Great friendly neighborhood spot, food was fresh and delicious, and the owner is amazingly friendly.

Love this place for a quick bite! The staff is incredibly friendly and the sushi is consistently great! Worth the visit.

I’m going to guess this place does a great takeout business with the college nearby. The sushi is good and the chef is generous. The dining room rarely had people in it, which is strange, but the guy who runs it seems to get by. He’s fast and attentive.

Decent place. Had spicy tuna lunch special. The portion was humorously small but it was made well. Service was ok.

Place was empty when we went in for a quick bite. I was not satisfied with the service. The waitress apologized for the wait saying it was busy, although there was only one other table being waited on. Took about an hour to get just 3 rolls. They prioritize strangely. Take-out before the eat-in customers. My sushi rolls were missing ingredients. Later that night my partner and and I felt sick. They served the worst sushi I have had by far.

Great little local sushi place. Always a great meal, prices are a big high but I never mind because I feel bad that I rarely see the dining room full for dinner.

I work near the area and craved sushi one day so I ordered a simple roll. Price was fair and it was tasty. I am very picky as to where I order food by the way. That was my first experience Which was good but the second time I ordered from here I got food poisoning. I ordered the same sushi and some noodles and within hours I was ill. Never again. I should been more careful especially since the restaurant had an unpleasant smell and no ac during the hot summer day. Never again will I get food from here.

Honestly, the only reason why this restaurant is still here is because of location and lack of competition. If you’re a college student looking for Japanese-ish food, then this is a good place for you. Or, if you want to eat Japanese food but could settle for take-out Chinese food, this place would work for you too. The prices are too high for the quality, and the service is mediocre at best. Three times(different occasions) I requested for a particular sauce on a dish and did not receive it, even though they said they understood each time. Also, never order a salad from here. The Avocado Salad was a quarter of an avocado with 3 pieces of lettuce and some carrot slivers. The side salads are literally one piece of lettuce with even fewer carrots.

Overall a very good place! Went to dine in once, nice atmosphere, solid staff, good food, excellent prices! Definitely my go to place for pseudo-Japanese food, ESPECIALLY in the Riverdale area, where cuisines come to die!

I personally love this place. Been ordering from them and dining with them for as long as I have lived in Riverdale. People complain about the service there, even when it’s quiet. But I have to say, I may not get served right away, but I get to enjoy the owner playing a beautiful Japanese flute along with great conversation with my friend without having to yell or constantly asked if we need anything or rushed out. I have been to too many restaurants where I have felt overwhelmed by servers and felt rushed. When I come to Yokohama, I can relax, listen to great music, and enjoy my food. The food is delish, the price is great, and the owners/servers are always very nice.

My wife walked in for lunch the other day. No other customers were present. Hip hop was blaring and the place was freezing. We asked if they could turn off the ‘music’ and heat the place up a bit, which would not have been difficult as the thermo was set to off. At that point the water walked away never to be seen again. We asked someone else to come over. He fiddled with the music control which did nothing and he too walked away, as did we. What a horrible rude shop staffed by lazy slobs. Stay away! Good for… nothing.

Friday night and only two other tables were taken. So why did it take them 10 minutes for us to be able to order, and a further 40 minutes, before we left, supper less, in disgust? Ah yes, they were cooking for takeout customers, while we sat, hungry and ignored. I ordered a glass of wine, only to be told by the grumpy git waiter that they didn’t have a liquor license. Which is odd, because they serve saki and beer. He also told me three times in sarcastic tones, that if I wanted to drink liquor, I should cross the street to An Beal Bocht. Thank goodness he was there to provide such helpful information. My friend asked for a glass of water. He couldn’t grasp what she meant. We had to explain that it comes out of the faucet. Our apps arrived and were ok, apart from the vegetable tempura, which included a hunk of squash with the rind still on it, and a lump of turnip. In July? After that, we waited, and waited, and waited, before throwing down $ 20 and telling them to forget the whole thing. They were unperturbed — they hadn’t started to prepare our entrees, 40 minutes after taking the order. Dismal and pathetic, with a nasty dish of rudeness and sarcasm on the side.

If you can stomach the«Sushi-Nazi» taking your order, then you’re in for a treat. Yes, the angry Japanese man on the phone almost made us too scared to call and add a soda to our order BUT the food was absolutely delicious! And since food is what matters most, I’m giving this place 5 stars.

This place use to be a 5 star organization. I had lived in the Bronx for almost 10 years and this was my go to place for sushi. I lived no where near this place but one of my neighbors would order and get food and beer delivered there, so I jumped on it when I found out I could too. The sushi was great to me, I loved the fact that I did not always have to go to manhattan for a sushi craving. Since I was getting delivery I would get a weird mix type of order too. I use to usually order the Japanese fried rice, Shrimp Tempura Roll, California Roll, and something that was a kid’s portion of sushi but it included alot of just pieces of raw fish and on top of a bed of rice. It was alot of food and very cheap compared to everything else. Also, sometimes throw in a 2 or 3 cans of Sapporo with the order. So yeah I would just order alot of food that was just for my dad and I and just save the rest for later. I loved the food say back in 2006 or 2007, 2008 time frame, but more recent orders of less than 8 months ago, left me very unsatisfied. I guess it would be nice to try my pieces of fish on top of bed of rice order again. Maybe one day, I will head back to the restaurant in person for that one. The area is very nice on 238th street.

Lunch prices are great and delivery was timely. I really wish that they would put the sushi in those regular sushi boxes(black bottom with clear top) so the wasabi doesn’t get all over the place before I get a chance to eat. Also, the sushi and sashimi don’t taste fresh at all. Definitely have had better from nearby places that deliver.

had to write a review to counter the 2 star review based on what seemed to be solely delivery issues. from my perspective, the apps are top notch — the yakisoba is friggin amazing, the gyoza are delicious and the yakitori to go out of your way for. fish-wise: i’ve found the sashimi to be as fresh as any other in the city, which is an amazing surprise seeing as the neighborhood we’re in. all of the rolls are the right size. no so thick-i-can’t-fit-this-roll-in-my-mouth here. the lunch deals are nearly a steal. go. eat there.

Saki Bombs anyone?! Yokohama is a great little sushi place. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but definitely fast and friendly service(«Darren,» the only server I’ve ever seen there, and an incredibly cute and funny little Japanese man, is the bombbb!). Also, if you’re in the area on Friday and Saturday nights, it’s great place to take a group of friends for some pre-game saki bombs!

Here’s how I sum it up: Great food Reasonable prices Horrible delivery We all know that the Bronx isn’t exactly known for its first-class sushi. Fortunately, Yokohama delivers on the quality side. I didn’t experience Maria’s qualms about the food itself. I recommend the Jasper roll(shrimp tempura, crab, spicy mayo). I can’t speak to the in-restaurant experience, and I’ve had no problem with the carryout. So why only two stars? One time, only half my ordered showed up. I called to request the rest over the phone, but they would only offer me a credit for the next time until I politely insisted they bring the remainder of my dinner(basic English-speaking phone operators are also are not a given, which added to my frustration). Several times, delivery has taken a long time(over an hour and I live five minutes away). Although the food itself is great, I’ve been very disappointed more than once by the poor delivery. So enjoy the tasty sushi, but only order out if you dare!

+ Relatively Inexpensive + Fresh Fish Sushi — Sliced so thin it was difficult to discern the actual flavor of the food. I could even see through the fish to the rice underneath. –Service hit or miss. One waiter was on the ball, the other one a bit clueless. Table service is tag team so you get both which makes for an on and off experience. –Weak green tea. More minuses than pluses. Sayonara Yokohama. We won’t be back.
