We went here hoping to find a sushi spot that was comparable to some of the restaurants in Manhattan that we usually frequent. This place was mindblowing! The service was spot on from the moment we walked in until our exit. The servers were very attentive, prompt, and knowledgeable about the menu. I am currently pregnant and the server recommended some great cooked rolls. We ordered Hamachi kama as an appetizer, and it was the largest piece of fish I have ever received, and broiled to perfection. The hidden dragon roll and I love Lucy roll were so fresh tasting. Everything was reasonably priced too. I wish we had visited this place sooner. I am already looking forward to our next meal here.

Average. Food is pretty blah, but when you’re starving it fills you up pleasantly. Best bet is to get the bento box or tempura. Not a genuine Japanese restaurant. How do I know, you ask? The people that run the place aren’t even Japanese.

Tohae is gone. And I didn’t know till now because it’s been so stupid long since I’ve been back here. Inexcusable. It’s terrible he’s not here, at least for my sweetheart & me. He’s retired now, But he worked so hard. Did we expect he’d be doing this till the end of time? There are 4 sushi chefs standing now where he stood. We went tonight to celebrate a birthday. Yes we looked forward to the magnificent fish, but actually we went to see Tohae. His nephew Ben broke the news to us, very gently, but it was a reminder that putting off seeing people who are important to you is a lame thing to do. We miss him bad. Not because the restaurant would fall apart or anything. It’s just that… well, if you know Tohae you know what i mean. And we had an absolutely grand dinner. Sweetie asked for ankimo and of course they had it! and made it right there to order — heaven(like the house shoyu Ben offered instead of the soy sauce on the table). King crab, white tuna(escolar), fresh salmon, smoked salmon, hamachi, unagi, toro. I forget everything we had. A North Roll for old time’s sake — a sweetly traditional contrast to the massive artistic creations we saw Eri and his team turning out. It was all like *the* perfect cut of the perfect fish at just the right time. I only wish Tohae had been there to joke with us, make those faces, flatter Sweetie whose Japanese is coming along way better than when she last tried it out on him; tell more quirky stories about his family & friends, and give us faith that the ones we love will always be right there where we last met.

Miso soup is always delicious and the rolls are incredible. My favorite are the spicey crap and spicey salmon. My child loves the crab roll.

Just called on New Years Day to ask what time the lunch special is over was told 4 o’clock and that the kitchen closes at 3:45 drove all the way over here only to be told they don’t honor the lunch special today which they could have told me on the telephone before I wasted my time and gas to come here I will never come back again the lady was rude at the desk I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone stay away

I ordered the lunch special. I got the two rolls with the salad. The rolls were good, but the ginger dressing was so salty. I also ordered the chicken satay. The chicken was so dry and the sauce was gross. I am used to a sweet satay sauce and this was anything but. I will not order again from here again.

I went to Palace of Japan on Christmas Eve expecting to have another typical sushi experience. However, I received a nice and warm welcome from the entire staff as I walked into a beautifully designed restaurant. The environment alone separates this place from other sushi restaurants; the mood was vibrant and the service was awesome. The awesome vibe of this place is backed up by its awesome food. The owner personally came to us to explain that the seafood was very carefully selected and that they only pick the freshest fish. I truly enjoyed the experience and would like to thank everyone from the Palace of Japan staff.

I love this place. The waiters are awesome and they are so friendly. I come here twice a month and everything is delicious. The rolls are to die for and the lychee martinis are just the cherry on top. I recommend this place.

My GF and I come here a lot. It’s «our spot». They pretty much know us here. They seat us in the same table every time we come here. We always get the same waiter and he basically knows what we want each time ! Really nice place. The food is really good and the staff are beyond nice.

I was in a very generous mood so I gave Palace another try. Again I was disappointed and my order was not fresh, I suspect the sushi was DOUBLEFROZEN, which is a no no. But i did give them the benefit of the doubt. Again i did hear this time in the South Riverdale post office of an incident regarding a beige off color calamari dish and an incident which ensued .I honestly gave this place a second shot but after hearing all this neighborhood gossip., I can never grace their door again. I am so afraid for the surrounding neighborhood of this establishment,

This place was Okay, service is good ‚ food is okay as well. It’s current. And dessert was left at the table(it was grossed) It’s TOO Dark to eat at this place! I came here on a Monday early afternoon, it felt like I couldn’t see my plate, almost as if they were to turn on the light, u will see how dirty it is ‚ We order the hidden dragon, and. I forgot the other plate. It was what I like to call unmemorable. The food presentation was great, it was on fire. Literally the lady lite a match into my plate. While I was eating I can still taste the alcohol of the Flames when it was gone. This plate doesn’t make ur taste buds go wildly crazy as much as you would want to enjoy it. Dessert: more like punishment, We order dessert the cappuccino truffle You can tell it was frozen. Literally with frost bite lol Please Skip dessert, it’s cheap, no quality, it’s served in a plastic cup by(hindin),. You’ll spent $ 6 on a tiny frozen wanna be dessert. It tasted like that Haagen Dazs ice cream that melted a few weeks ago and was put back in the freezer. Perhaps worse. Would I come here again? Fck no.

I love sushi and have been to many sushi spots in the area but felt that the salmon in some of my usual spots was a little on the meh side, so i decided to give this place a shot. We ordered a bunch of sashimi, shrimp tempura rolls and miso soup and were glad with the quick delivery. Our food came in under 30 mins when I was quoted 45 – 60. Sadly the food was not up to par. This spot is pricier than the ones in the area so we had a bit of hope but that wasn’t the case. The salmon was okay, the tuna was tough, and we was missing a few pieces of our sashimi order. This isn’t a place I would rush to order from again

I LOVE Palace of Japan! I eat there several times a week and have never been disappointed. The wait staff are very attentive and nice and the new owners who are related to Kevin are the nicest people!!! They address me by my name every time and always make sure everything is to my liking. The lechee martini is the best and the bartender is very generous! I have tried every sushi restaurant in Riverdale and this place is the best to me. My one and only critique is I miss the old way they made the Alaska roll(saltier) and wish they brought it back. I will always eat here and recommend it all the time! I don’t understand the negative reviews about the service and wait staff. I have never had a bad experience with them but they know me as a frequent customer and I am always friendly.

The hubby and I ended up here last Thursday on a rare weekday off after dropping off the 4 yr old at preschool at 12 pm, so regardless of the brightness of the sun, I assure you this was an actual date ;). I am SO happy we found this place, the food and the service are unbelievable! We had veggie gyoza and tuna tar tar to start, along with some amazing drinks called«tropical breeze» I believe, it had mango rum(see I told you it was an actual date, lol) and was simply delicious, we are already planning to go back for just drinks and fried ice cream(a server passed by with it after we were stuffed, but it looked scrumptious!). So I had 2 rolls, went for the salmon and avocado and spicy salmon. The hubs had some chicken and shrimp tempura that he absolutely loved. Both dishes were accompanied by a bowl of miso soup and salad. The servers both super friendly and attentive, explained dishes to us when we asked and were just beyond pleasant, the hostess as well. We will definitely be returning soon and cannot wait!

I ordered the sea food platter. Probably the worst sea food I’ve had, the sea food tasted like they took it straight out of the fridge and dumped sauce on it. On the other hand, the staff is amazing. Sweet and attentive! The overall vibe is chil. Amazing music, nice Décor! They should consider changing the chef…

I am so happy I found this place near the Bronx. I absolutely love sushi and this was not only an experience but it was delicious. We had the hidden dragon roll, which they lit on fire and it was so good. The bartender was beyond generous when it came to the alcohol and the lychees in the lychee martini. I am not complaining, just saying… Definitely would come back.

I went for lunch with a friend then went back the very next day for more! Creative, delicious and beautiful rolls. So fresh and yummy! Excellent service. Will recommend to everyone!
