Pretty good lunch spot that is reasonably priced, considering its basically across the street from the statehouse. I don’t think High Spot excels at anything, but there are a lot of options to choose from, including falafel. It’s not the best food, but you can probably please anyone here.

This is a great lunch spot. They have a pretty big menu. I like the salmon special the most, it’s very tasty — not the cheapest lunch though.

This is one of my new favorite lunch spots. I have walked past the restaurant countless times but only recently decided to give it a try. I wish I had done so years ago! The restaurant itself isn’t anything special as far as the décor goes, but the food is awesome. The first time I came, I tried the chicken pesto wrap. All of the ingredients are very fresh. The pesto sauce is fantastic and I loved the combination of everything that comes on the wrap. To top it off, the wrap is put in their panini press and is served nice and warm! I had a slice of chicken pesto pizza earlier this week. It was very cheap at $ 3/slice. The pizza was so flavorful and the crust nice and crunchy. My main complaint is that it was served right from the warmer without being heated up. That would have made a world of difference. Despite that, I will definitely be back many times.

I went here for the first time since our offices moved across the street a few months ago. Ordered chicken noodle soup… can’t go wrong, right? Wrong. The veggies are raw… like the small carrots are edible but the larger ones are a bit much… and there’s chicken skin in here. Chicken. Skin. In my chicken noodle soup. Many co-workers like this place a lot… but I’ll tell ya… DONOTGETTHESOUP!

I work in the area and this is one of my favorite lunch spots. Since becoming a vegetarian, I love their salad and pizza selections as well as their vegetarian options. NOICEBERG lettuce! Today my Greek salad had spinach as well as romaine. The eggplant pizza is delicious. Minimal seeds in the eggplant, which I am very impressed with. I think it is very affordable. Slice of pizza, Greek salad, and a soda for $ 11. The quality is very good.

I work right next door, and have for the past 2ish years, and I am still not sick of High Spot… not even close. It is crazy how fresh the food is and how fast it comes out. The salmon and rice/salad special is delicious, and even though the menu repeats itself weekly(for the most part) I always have trouble deciding what I want to eat because it’s all so good. The service is even better for the food. As I mentioned, I can’t ever decide what I want… usually standing off to the side of the long, but incredibly fast line. I never feel rushed, and they are never rude. The men who make the food are always so nice also, and accommodate you when you want the order switched up.

Fast service. Great food. The menu options are great and totally customizable to your taste, and the specials are never sub par. A staple to working in the State House area is High Spot. The line sometimes is long but moves fast. Always worth the small wait for a delicious lunch. Prices are really great too, perfect for my budget.

I’m giving this place a solid 4-spot as I am very stingy with my 5s. Had the Cubano and it was pretty amazing. I’m sure nobody else I know had a good of a lunch as I did today. They lose points for no online ordering, but gain those points back for accepting LevelUp. At only $ 7.65 after tax, this place blows Sam LaGrassa out of the water for value.

This place has the best veggie burgers! The people are as nice as it gets, and the food is excellent.

I’m giving this place two stars only because my food was passably good. The service and wastefulness of this establishment, however, will keep me from ever returning. I ordered two bagels with cream cheese and bacon and two coffees to go. The cashier responds, «Two bagels with cream cheese, anything else?» «Yes, add bacon to those,» I reply. «Ok, two bagels with cream cheese,» she says again. «And bacon,» I add. She gives me the order in two bags. Why each tiny bagel needs its own bag I don’t know, but I keep quiet about it. I go back to my hotel room across the street and discover that not only is the bacon missing, but that this place doesn’t even put the cream cheese on the bagel. Instead they give you a little plastic container and knife. Seriously, if you can take the time to toast the bagel, you can smear a little cream cheese on it. I return to ask about the missing bacon, and the cashier actually argues with me about whether or not I ordered it in the first place. Here’s a helpful hint to all service industry employees: do not argue with people who have already given you a tip!!! She offers to sell me a side of bacon(which really should have been offered for free at this point), so I get two orders. When the bacon is ready, does she offer to put it on the sandwiches for me? Of course not! Instead, each order comes in its own styrofoam container, which she tries to place in yet another paper bag. I end up just taking the styrofoam containers from her and I sat down at one of tables and assembled the sandwiches myself. In the end, the two sandwiches used two paper bags, two styrofoam containers, two plastic knives, and two plastic containers of cream cheese. The packaging of this place makes McDonald’s look like it’s run by Greenpeace. Really annoying experience all around. And another thing. The coffee wasn’t all that hot either.

I work near here. I usually bring my lunch, but on occasion I will buy take out. This is often my first choice. Best BLT ever. The French roll they serve it on tastes very fresh, they add just the right amount of mayo and they really heap the bacon on. Especially for the price. I also always add a slice of cheddar. I’ve never eaten in the restaurant, but the few days a month I’m too lazy to pack a lunch, this really does the trick.

«What are you having, buddy?». Locals will read that in their head and know exactly what I’m talking about haha. This place is great. I have NEVER had a bad meal here, and I have gone about once every 2 weeks for 3 years now. My top 5 are the New Englander, the Cubano, the Sicilian Pananini, the Greek Salad wrap and the Hummus wrap. All will nock your socks off. Occasional long lines, but well worth the wait. Added bonus: really good, fresh pickles.

Had lunch here for the first time and ordered the Tuscan Panini with grilled chicken(basil pesto, mozzarella, tomato, and balsamic dressing). The bread was by far the best part, with the right mix of crispy and chewy. I didn’t care for the flavor of the chicken or whatever they had basted it in. It had that — this was cooked a few hours ago but kept warm– taste to it. The veggies and cheese were very fresh so next time I will opt for the vegetarian or prosciutto version. My lunch date went for the pastrami and slaw and commented that it was too greasy. Not a bad spot for a quick bite, but you can definitely find a better bang for your buck on Beacon Hill. I also encourage High Spot to also expand their chip offerings. Lays … boring … Baked Lays … BORING.

High Spot Deli is good, but not quite as some have described. The pastrami sandwich w/cole slaw(and russian dressing) was tasty but a little greasy. Coffee was bold and flavorful — just my style. I wouldn’t mind eating here again if i’m in the neighborhood, but definitely won’t go out of my way.

I love this place. I attend Suffolk University, so its a quick walk for a great lunch. I specifically go there for their salmon special during the week. I have had a lot of the things on their menu and I always love it. The staff is great, and very friendly. They have a big lunch rush from 12 – 1 so I try to go there around 2 for a quick in and out. Overall, one of my favorite lunch spots in the city.

This is where I have Lunch during the work week. Food and value can’t be beat for lunch in downtown Boston. If you are visiting our State. Take time out from The Freedom Trail walk and grab some tasty food.

This place is a mixed bag. Their sandwiches are freshly made while you watch, and are quite good. The sandwich meats are tasty, the breads are pretty decent, and the veggies are fresh. Their prepared dishes range from«oh, yum,» to «oh, no!» I’ve ordered chicken soup here twice, and both times have had bones, fat, and cartilage to unpleasantly chomp down on. The people taking orders often seem lost, but the people making the sandwiches almost always get it right despite that. There sure are better deli options around, but not terrible for a quick pop-in.

Had their chicken pesto pizza for lunch this past week and all I can say is wow. They don’t skimp on chicken unlike other places. I love basically anything pesto and this was no exception. I don’t work in the area but I’m literally craving that pizza. I have some days off later this week and am seriously considering a trip to the area…

This place has varity– from breakfast omlets, pizza, sandwiches, wrapes, and then there are the lunch specials. Todays special was blackened salmon with rice and veggies. Not a fan of salmon so I decided to go for the Tuscan panini. This was amazing!!! for $ 7 I got a toasted rosemary roll with prosciutto, tomato, fresh basil, mozzarella, and balsalmic vinegar. the bread really made it. It was not grilled enough to have grill marks but it warmed the sandwich through out. The mozzerella was sliced in thick slabs and had a really good flavor. Co-workers go here frequently for pizza, so I’ll have to try that next. But from the looks of it I think I will like it since it is a bit greasy and has a thick crust. Not looking at the size of the slice it would appear pricey but you can get 2BIG slices for like $ 5 – 6.

Another place to ad to my Falafel list… though I probably would have been happier with anything else on the list. Microwaved Falafel. It was actually better than I thought it would be(as in I thought it would horrible) but I’d go just about anywhere else(skipping Temptations) for a Falafel, and probably order anything else on the menu… That is assuming I’d go back. Its not a bad place. Its clean, the food seems fresh, and the service is quick(though not very engaging or warm in any sense. think«NEXT!») But the price isn’t really worth it(6 dollars and change). You get better portions at viga and you can find better sandwiches. Nothing really stood out on the menu as being unusual. So, sorry Hi Spot, but there are enough Delis and Pizza places in Boston for me to overlook this one. (Note: They take Credit cards, but not AmEx)
