Love this place! Our go to place for quick and good food. Kind of shocked by the different reviews regarding service and quality we’ve probably have gone 15 times(that’s kind of embarrassing) and it’s always been great! Try the desserts they are all homemade and delicious

The food was average, nothing special for diner type food. I found a mistake in my check after I left, but because they don’t give you a detailed receipt, they just add it up in there head I didn’t realize till we were gone and tried to add up our cost. I found that to be kinda shady and think we got over charged about 12 bucks but it was impossible to figure out because no one remembered the prices that were only on the menu.

Perfect place for Saturday morning breakfast! Feels like you’re in your own dining room and mom’s in the kitchen cooking. If it’s available, definitely spring for the Vermont syrup. SOGOOD!

Stopped for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. I had the warm lobster roll and my husband had the fried scallops. While seafood this far from the coast is iffy, it was great here! It’s all fresh and comes in good size portions. The wait staff is super friendly, and very attentive. We will definitely be back

My husband and I discovered this place a couple weeks ago. We stopped in for breakfast. First off the coffee is delicious. I had the special of smokes salmon eggs benedict and it was sooooo good! The cornbeef hash is the best that I have ever had. My husbands eggs and french toast we also very good too! We were so happy with our first experience that we came back again this week for breakfast again and again everything was awesome! This will be our new breakfast spot!!!

We have only been here for breakfast but it has always been tasty. The service has always been attentive and friendly. I mean it’s a diner, so it’s not going to be gourmet or fancy, but I think it’s pretty good for what it is.

This diner has very fresh and delicious breakfasts and dinners. The Swedish meatballs are better than my own mothers — and that is quite a feat. The omelette’s are creative perfectly cooked and delicious! Most of All the family that owned and runs this diner are outrageously friendly and inviting. It’s really a special place to come to when someone remembers your name.

When a man ran in the front door requesting the chicken pot pie I knew that I had to order it. I was delighted to find an authentic chicken pot pie from the old country with fresh ingredients that may have been the best I ever had. I wish I had room for the homemade stuffed cabbage I heard someone else raving about but I’ll just have to wait until I’m the guy who runs in the front door asking if the stuffed cabbage is ready! Comfort food has a new home! A must try!

Had dinner here last night. Excellent Patty Melt. My 5 year old ate everything but the kitchen sink. Had a nice older gentleman for a waiter who was very attentive and friendly. My wife had Salmon over a salad and she said it was excellent. Nice family feel

First and last time here. Went for breakfast toast was burned on one side. Kids pancake had a piece of green pepper in it and was under cooked. Only reason for the two was the waitress was OK.

I’ll summarize: my experience here is that breakfast rates about a 4.5 and dinner a little inconsistent and maybe 3.5. I’ve been here many times but never once for lunch. I definitely favor their breakfasts. There is usually a board covered with tempting specials, and they can also usually make any omelet/breakfast you describe. The blueberry and/or banana pancakes are fan favorites, and the corned beef hash is also particularly good here. I do question whether it’s 100% homemade or a canned product that they’ve lovingly doctored and supplemented with homemade corned beef. Dinner: there is something for everyone, and the specials continue to be tempting. I just can’t help but think that by trying to offer a diverse array they are impeding their ability to do everything as well as they’d like. This diner is run by a hard working family that has lived in town for many years and still does. They are vested in the success of this restaurant and care about the quality of the food that they turn out. Sure, it’s pricey compared to diners in the flats or Naugatuck, but operating costs are higher in Bethany. The service in general is very good. Although I must add that there is a general difference between the table service given by a family member(exceptional) versus hired help(‘meh’ or ‘bleh’).

Menu clearly states“breakfast all day” but not really, waited 45 minutes to get a small stack of pancakes, and when it became painfully obvious that the delay was extreme, I was told that the grill had to be cleaned(attitude from waitress was basically we ordered a breakfast at 2 pm, so our fault, not theirs). Offered refills on the sodas, my daughter ended up getting 2 refills with the delay! Finally get the check, figured they would COMP the sodas, seeing she didn’t deem it necessary or in good faith to offer the pancakes or the home fries on some kind of discount for the fact we pretty much ate our meals separately. Further review of the check… Charged for FIVE sodas, and the 11. 95 special I ordered(to which the waitress asked if I wanted THE soup or THE salad) was billed at 14.95, with a charge for the salad! TWOBIGTHUMBSDOWN!!!

Unfortunately I ordered the lobster roll. The waitress said it was fresh lobster. Noooo it was not. It was dry and tasteless. And the«butter» was salty with again no flavor. The price was 19.95 which is definitely too high for what I received. My husband ordered the fish and chips. Although it looked better on the plate the only item that tasted good was the french fries We won’t be back for supper at the country diner!!!

Just to update this so its more relevant to present day — this place continues to do a brisk business. We still only stop in for breakfast and it’s now very rare due to the increase in the costs. I’m not sure what happened but the breakfasts easily exceed $ 75 not including tip — which is outrageous and disappointing considering that the food is pretty good. If this is not an issue for you, I still recommend it — but dropping that much breakfast is just not cool for our family of four.

I’ve been going to this diner since I moved to Bethany in 2001. The quality of food I find to be above average for a diner. I’ve enjoyed all three meals here over the years and can’t say anything bad about the food. We have tried many other places for breakfast but this by far is the best breakfast place in the area. Some folks complain about pricing but you get what you pay for. A lot of their food is homemade including the Corned beef hash so to me I think the prices are in line for the quality.

The staff is always very friendly and efficient here. I’ve only come for breakfast, but everything I have had has been good. I won’t say blow me out of the water good, but decent diner food good. I love the blueberry blintzes and they make the best bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. My husband is a huge fan of the chili cheese omelet. The food always comes out very quick. They are always busy, but I’ve never had to wait for a table. All in all, it’s a pleasant place to grab breakfast on a weekend morning.
