The last 3 visits the murray scholls location was out of both of our favorite menu items? probably will go elsewhere from now on. Great Food — when they have it.

Taste of the islands in Portland. Great for a quick fix for some Hawaiian plates. It’s not fancy, but you get your aloha groove on. Chicken teriyaki is good as is the katsu. Macaroni salad hits the spot. Friendly, casual atmosphere.

I am a major fan of Hawaiian plate lunch and Roxy’s is the best I’ve found in Portland. The moment I step inside, the smells and music transport me straight to Hawaii(as long as I can ignore the gray sky outside and the door is keeping the chill out). When I first started getting Roxy’s plate lunch I always ordered the shoyu chicken but then later on I discovered their amazing teri-chicken plate, which has become my standard order(I do still like the shoyu chicken though). The chicken is char-grilled and marinated to perfection and paired with two scoops of rice and one scoop of mac salad makes for a fantastic plate lunch. Even better with a can of cold Hawaiian Sun guava juice. Yum. The prices are also very reasonable and the service is pretty quick. Roxy’s isn’t much of a sit-down restaurant, even though they do have tables, seats, and a soda fountain. You pick up your order in a box from the counter so it feels a lot more like a takeout place. Just a word of warning, the kalua pork(also very good) isn’t available everyday so you have to remember which days they have it on if you want to order that. And even if you go on the right day, be sure to go a bit early as they sometimes run out. I haven’t tried their loco moco or anything other than standard plate lunch before but I’m sure it’s good. If you’re interested in their catering, as far as I know they don’t do on-site catering but I did order the food for my graduation party from them a couple years ago. That essentially involved contacting an office person to order teriyaki and shoyu chicken with rice and mac salad in mass amounts served in those large tin catering trays for carryout. It was very convenient and we had no issues whatsoever with our order.

The teriyaki and shoyu chicken are amazing and the portions are large. I love their mac salad, just wish they would increase the portions of it.

Best Mac salad in portland. Huge portion of Teriyaki chicken for $ 7. No grief when I asked for no rice. Best Hawaiian I’ve had in the NW. Friendly staff. Good happy music.

The Water experience here was excellent. Not only was the water clean, refreshing, and rejuvenating, but the ease of access was top notch. The water dispensary machine(also containing soda, which I would not recommend) was easy to use and distributed water evenly and efficiently. The ice kept my water cold while the clear water cup brought an air of sophistication to my liquid intake. Did you know that the phosphoric acid in soda causes tooth enamel erosion, even with minimal exposure?

My favorite for DAKINEGRINDS! Must try, LOCOMOCO, Shoyu Chicken. My friend always orders the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich that I’ve had bites of and it is good too. In-expensive big servings. There is a big M-F lunch crowd so try to avoid that if possible.

I have given Roxys many chances and every time I regret it. Their chicken is overcooked to the point of it being more like jerky. It’s gritty and has charcoal black pieces all over it that makes it inedible(which is a tell tale that they NEED to clean the GRILL) and then they try to drown in thick syrup like teriyaki sauce. This is the most overrated ‘Island Joint’ the Mac is nothing but mayonnaise, black pepper and garlic and reg salt. The employees are classless, unprofessional and how this place gets a passing score from DOH is beyond me. Not worth the wait, the uncomfortable tiny layout and crappy customer service.

This is my absolute favorite place to eat and hang out. Roxy’s has the best Hawaiian grub in Portland and a very relaxed atmosphere for just hanging out and enjoying life. If you’re hungry… or hungover take on the loco moco! So many great dishes… you can’t go wrong… but remember these words ‘Loco Moco’…

I absolutely love this place!!! It’s cheap and you get your food fast. Their teriyaki chicken is amazing and I tried their char siu recently and that was so delicious as well!!! Every plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. I do love their mac salad because it pairs great with the rice and chicken. They are super friendly there as well and they will let you sample some of their chicken as well. If you want spam musubi, you better get there early because they sell out quick! This is such a filling and quick meal to pick up if you don’t feel like cooking!

I came here with some colleagues for lunch on request of one of them for his birthday. It’s an order and find a seat place, and we got there early because he mentioned that the line can get long. Thank goodness that we did! The guys working the line were very happy and helpful and gave us samples of the different types of chicken. I went with the shoyu chicken and loved it! They definitely give you a lot of food. Great spot!

This the best Hawaiian grill around. I have never had a bad meal here. Kalbi and the Katsu are the best. Never dry chicken, the rice is always fresh and the Mac Salad is absolutely perfect. This place can be really busy and you may need to take your order to go as the place is not very big. Always clean, friendly employees and Delicious food.

The happy atmosphere, positive vibes here make the experience almost as good as the food. Authentic, fresh, off the grill food. You can’t say no when they offer you samples of everything. You’re welcomed as family, and left with a full tummy as you would if you left a thanksgiving dinner. The quality of food is great, and it’s delicious. You can’t go wrong with the ribs and the mac salad hits the spot every time! Don’t be scared to ask to try something, they will feed with you a smile and stand behind their food. Enjoy!

Nov 7th, I heard they were open. This is the first week. Nice island theme sign out front, parking on-site not best if you remember the old hollywood video. Bright yellow inside contrasted with mere black tables and chairs. The table I sat at was not clean, maybe someone just left, moved to a clean one. Plenty of seating for 40plus. Nice laidback scenery, can tell by skateboards hanging at coat rack and the Roxy welcoming sign that tells you their laid back. Nice picture Signs shows you the food platters. I chose the Kalbi rib platter. There were about 10 people here at 530pm. Then a constant flow of people trying them out. Excellent alternative to Hawaiian Kine. Good came out in 10minutes. Beef ribs full of flavor. Hot Sticky Rice(short grain) cold Mac salad, has strong pepper taste, too much for me. Overall exp good. Friendly cashiers, cook was busy. Down side, no phone for phone order pick up. If sitting by window, be prepared to feel like a lost puppy up for adoption as people sit in their car with their headlights on you. No recycling appears to be going on here, especially with Styrofoam containers present. Junk storage in corner visible from half wall trying to cover it. Upside: great people, great ribs, plenty of sauces. Wow pictures. New paint, very simple, island feel with island music.

Great place to eat for a cheap eat! Each meal is around $ 7.50 each. However, don’t expect a nice restaurant setting as it is set up more like a cafeteria with around four tables for 4 and three tables for 2. You order and pay for the food before sitting down to eat. I noticed a lot of people came in for takeout. Ordered two of the items on the menu: 1) Kalbi chicken — A little bit dry, but I like the very very slightly charred taste and it is well seasoned. 2) Sweet garlic chicken — Very good, but be aware that it will taste very salty towards the end of the meal.

As long as you’re not looking for healthy options, this place is the best. Everything here is amazing. My favorites are Shoyu chicken and Katsu chicken and of course, the mac salad. I always ask to sub one of the scoops of rice for an extra scoop of mac salad because it’s so good I can’t get enough. I love that Roxy’s is simple and super chill. It’s always pretty busy but the line goes fast. The only thing that makes me cringe is that they use styrofoam boxes for take-out orders.

This is the place I’ve gone to the most since moving to Oregon… and for good reason. Their place is a no fuss, open late, in and out type of restaurant. Gigantic parking lot on the corner-ish of Walker and Cedar Hills. I’ve come for lunch and dinner and it’s always busy but always moving fast. I always have the hardest time deciding what to get but luckily they let you get two different types of meat with your combo plate. Here are my top choices: –sweet garlic chicken(this is the true winner in my book). it’s not greasy or heavy or anything. just delicious! –chicken katsu. fried to perfection. it’s a Hawaiian staple –loco moco(if youre feeling mad hungry and have time for a nap afterwards). My only gripe is their spam musubi. ive gone a couple of times where they were sold out but I get sad when they do have it and I’m super excited to eat it and then bite into hard rice because they have the musubi chilling on their heating tray all day. rice needs to be soft in order to be a winner in my book. They accept card and there’s indoor and outdoor seating. You order at front and they call your name when it’s ready. Also provide huge water cups for water.
