Impossibly mediocre. Everything comes in styrofoam, even if you’re sitting right there. Yuck. The food was not horrible, but everything else basically was.

The restaurant across the way was busy, so I made my way to L & L Hawaiian Barbeque. I am a fan of Roxy Island down the street, so I had just imagined the same. Well, they had few different menu items at L & L. I ordered the generous serving of their mahi mahi for $ 8. It came with macaroni salad and two small rice mounds. The macaroni salad was delicious. The fish & chips style mahi mahi was lovely and 3 nice pieces. I liked the Bq sauce on the side. I liked seeing the Honolulu Star on the side for perusing. I know L & L is not local, but it’s small size still felt like a local mom & pop place. I guess now I will go to L & L along with Roxy Island.

The Mac salad has no flavor but everything else is really good. What I like the most they are not shy with the rice the loco moco had a lot of good flavor

This restaurant is stuck on the back of the Cedar Hill Crossing mall. It is small but run by an always friendly woman, i can only review the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, but I have had it several times, it is fairly cheap, comes fast and there is more sauce in a bottle if you want The vegitables always seem to change, but that is stated on the menu. This is part a chain, The space is tiny which makes for an odd layout, but there are lots of windows so it is always light and bright inside with company posters showing happy people with scenes of Hawaii in the background. The place is always kept very clean which is nice for fast food. There is nothing fancy about the place but the speed and service bring me back and the bowl is quite good for fast food standards. Oh, and its just around the corner in the mall from Powells Books, another selling point.

EHBRAH! WHATHAPPEN? I’m a hawaiian food aficionado. I know lots, and I’ve eaten more than that. L&L is a local chain. They ARE hit and miss depending on the franchise owner. Some of the better mainland ones are in Vegas. However they also have lots of competition. The worst ones I’ve been to were in Arizona. Ugh. Not a good one in the bunch. This location is a mixed plate. Some items are good. Some are kinda plain and just kind of miss the flavors. But up side is, it’s not bad. This location is TINY! But clean and well managed. The people were nice. The prices here are fair for what you get. The Teri beef seemed to lack a bit of flavor. Same with the spam musubi. The Mac salad was ok, but also a bit bland. To be fair, I haven’t had great Mac salad at an L&L off the island yet. It’s a decent spot to get a hawaiian food fix. But they have competition right up the road who really know their stuff. Roxy’s and 808 Grinds. If this place wants to hang in there, they need to step up their game a bit with those guys a stones throw away. I’ll check back in again soon tho.

I wandered in here one day after getting off work, hungry and tired and ready for some fast, delicious food. I had their BBQ Chicken lunch special, along with a spam musubi, and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was delicious and tender, with not too much sauce. The musubi, while not the best I’ve ever had, was still good. I tried the katsu curry meal today, which was also good. But it had too much curry on there for my personal taste. No biggie. I am not a huge fan of their mac salad– don’t get me wrong, it’s fine, but it doesn’t have a lot of flavor. The service here has been very friendly both times I’ve come in. The lady behind the counter was very kind and made suggestions for me when I couldn’t decide what to get, and she greets everyone politely. Overall, I like this place, and I will definitely be back more often.

Simple Hawaiian fast style food. Good BBQ chicken and fried shrimp. Will certainly be back.

Extremely rude people! My sister in law, who is legally blind was kicked out of this place because of her service dog! Her dog had the proper tags and they didn’t care! I think she should sue them for this! That is totally illegal, not to mention insensitive! How can someone kick a blind person out of they’re restaurant?! Never eat here!

I’ve been eating at L&L for years and the food here has always been great in the past. My favorite is the beef short ribs but I’ve tried most of the traditional Hawaiian dishes on the menu. Today when I went I ordered the short ribs and was very excited because I was really hungry and hadn’t had Hawaiian in a long time. However, much to my chagrin the meat tasted old and of very low quality, even the marinade flavor seemed off. The mac salad was good, as was the service, but for $ 12.50 the meat should have been better.

Run far away from here! I am not an amateur when it comes to dining out, and I have no ax to grind. This place is plain filthy and really nasty bathrooms. Dirt on the floor in the eating area, and looked like they hadn’t cleaned it in a year. Even the kitchen was disheveled and dirty. Lazy uninterested order taker. Food came back all big chunks of pork fat! I am amazed it’ is allowed to stay open, obviously the health inspector is blind. I made the mistake of ordering thinking«Hawaiian style» and all, no way ever again, we threw our food in the garbage there(which was brimming) and didn’t ask for our money back as my wife gets embarrassed. If I was alone they would have heard this and I would have gotten my money back.

Anyone who has been to Hawai’i know that L&L is a local chain owned by a couple of Japanese business men that has now expanded to the United States. Since it’s a chain there is a definite«sameness» between locations. A meal at one location is going to be pretty much the same as other locations. What that meal is cheap, decent, and with huge portions for the price. I usually get the BBQ combo, BBQ Chicken, BBQ Beef, BBQ Kalbi ribs. I always sub out the Mac Salad for some greens so I can pretend I’m eating semi-healthy. And then add a SPAM Musubi, and Portegeuse Sausage Musubi. This huge meal still comes in just under $ 15.00 and has enough left overs for dinner or a late night snack. The BBQ Chicken special comes with THREE chicken breasts! They also have four types of Musubi, ALL of which are really good. Especially with the addition of a bit of their BBQ sauce on the side. The only dishes I don’t like here are anything with the gravy. For some reason the gravy is just a bit off for my taste. There is better Hawai’ian food around. But L&L still provides a good solid meal. Or two.

Hours are from 11 am — 9 pm daily Don’t know why this place gets such bad reviews. Tastes like every other L&L I’ve been to growing up in Hawaii, granted I have only been here this one time. It has got all your typical plate lunch options. I had the mini chicken katsu and my husband had the loco moco, both with Hawaiian Sun Passion Orange juice of course! Nothing spectacular but serves its purpose when I am too lazy to make those things myself.

while not the best Hawaiian food it is pretty good. A friend and I went here one night… we were starving and they were open. We both ordered the plate with 3 meats. While the beef was okay…(we both decided while decent we were not that impressed) the chicken… oh my the chicken was perfect! I LOVEDTHECHICKEN! The mac salad was also good. That is one of those sides that is either really good or horrible… this was really good!

I finally gave this place a go as I have driven past it numerous times. Now I wonder what the draw is since it seems pretty busy. The people who work here I will say are some of the nicest folks ever and wow do they serve food fast! The food was meh and seemed spendy for the portions honestly. The chicken was rather tasty but the beef had that reheated from frozen flavor. Their pasta salad they serve with their meals is tasty and their veggie spring rolls were also good. I just cannot imagine going back when I can get better food way cheaper just about anywhere else.

Me being a girl from Hawai’i, L&L is like home for me. Its obviously not exactly like the food from back home but it does hit the spot when it comes to the closest Hawaiian food besides Roxys. The Lau Lau & Kalua Pig plate is soooo ONO! If your not used to Local Hawaiian food. I would go for the Chicken Katsu! They also have Fruit Punch as part of their fountain drinks. Just FYI! They also have daily specials which is pretty awesome! Mini and regular plates. Love their Fries too. They have something for everyone from veggie or healthy meals to hamburgers, meat lovers(bbq mix plate), kalua pig w/cabbage, saimin(ramen noodles), spam musubi, mahi mahi(fish), fried shrimp etc.

A Haiku Review of L&L Hawaiian Barbeque: Should’ve known better. But I was really hungry. Bring out the Pepto.

2 years and 100+ reviews in, you’d think I would always Unilocal a place before I try something new. Believe me, lesson learned. I had the chicken katsu. The portion was huge — really, the mini or whatever it’s called would have been enough. The panko was fine, but the chicken was really dry and frankly, some sketch cuts. I’d maybe try again at a busier time of day, in hopes that it might be fresher — the rice was good, the mac salad ok — but never again on the gravy. Never. It was thin, watery, and had a really«off» taste that I couldn’t place. Almost fishy? And the chicken was saturated in it. This would have been much better with a teriyaki or katsu sauce. Here’s the thing though: it’s overpriced for what you’re getting, on top of questionable quality. Yes, I get that it’s Hawaiian fast food, but lunch + a drink set me back $ 9, which is dumb considering much, much better Hawaiian is available for less cash just two streets over at Roxy’s, and it’s just as fast as L&L.
