Unhappy with my haircut and especially my color from Nicki.

I love Nicki! She is continually educating herself when it comes to all the new and updated technology for color and products. I have been going to Nicki for about 4 years now and I’m never ever disappointed. She takes the necessary time to make things perfect as she is a perfectionist :). She is also an artist when it comes to cuts as well. I highly recommend her and promise, you won’t be disappointed.

I think Nicki is my new BFF when it comes to hair. A few months ago I really needed a haircut but was so busy it wasn’t my highest priority. Bella Bliss is on my way home from work, and I stopped by on the off chance that they accept walk-​ins. Nicki is such a doll! She invited me in, and I bookmarked a few pages in the hairstyle magazines while she finished her current client. We talked through the styles I chose, and she is one of the first stylists I’ve worked with who *really* understands what I want — stylish, short, and easy to maintain — and how to make it happen. Nicki also made a recommendation on styling my bangs that really works.
Each session starts with a relaxing scalp massage, and I end up with a really hip haircut for a reasonable price. I just went back for my follow-​up cut, and I am even happier with this one. I’ll be back next month for color.
The salon also offers manicures, spa pedicures and waxing services. Now that I am making time again for haircuts, pedicures should be next!

I just got home from the salon, and made it a point to write Renee Schulz a review right away! I’ve had my hair cut with her before, and I have wavy-​curly medium bodied hair. She always gets my hair just right! Today I went in with the intention of having my bleached out, dry hair (under layers) cut off because it was so dry. I wanted to keep the length though, so Renee suggested I add color to it. We put this amazing new plum color in (I have black hair) and it looks so pretty! She also trimmed the ends off, complimentary. I’ll definitely be back! Thanks Renee!

I will admit that while I have liked some of the haircuts I have had in salons, I’ve never really cared for the stylist who has cut it. This may be the first time I’ve liked both! I even liked the salon itself.
Thanks to Groupon, I found a $ 50 bargain for $ 25. The salon is located just across the street from Sunset Lanes bowling alley, so you might not even realize it’s there.
I walked in and was immediately welcomed. I said I had a 4:30 with Renee and found out it was Renee who welcomed me. She offered me a drink and told me it would just be a few minutes. I looked through a magazine while sipping my Diet Pepsi.
When Renee was ready for me, we walked to her station and talked about what I wanted. She looked at the photo and made sure that we were thinking the same thing. She washed my hair and then continued to keep checking that she understood what I wanted. Even while cutting my hair, she kept giving me option after option to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. At one point, she had cut my bangs long and then asked if I wanted to keep that or cut them to be even with the other side. I wasn’t crazy about the longer bang (even though that’s what I had asked for), so I got to change it up and even it out with the other side. She helped style it and then asked it was okay if she called over someone else to suggest other ideas. They talked about the cut and Renee made a few tweaks. She took her time with my hair and allowed me to make every critical decision while giving me her opinion here and there.
I’ve received many compliments on my haircut and look forward to my next cut with Renee. If you know what you want and it’s straight-​forward, make an appointment for anytime. However, if you’re unsure and you need a little guidance, I recommend making yourself her last client of the day.

Not a good experience. I have curly hair and have struggled to find someone in Portland that can give me a great cut.
I explained to the stylist (and owner) my hair type, took a picture and insured we had time to talk about what I had in mind, always stressing the cut was most important. I told her previous stylist dry my hair stick straight, then cut. This is great if my hair was actually straight, but it’s not.
Well, she picks up the dryer and proceeds to do exactly what I’ve just told her doesn’t work. She tells me about her education and passion for her craft. Tells me how she’s going to give my hair the right cut and proceeds to cut away.
I left looking fine, but the next morning reality sets in… my hair was over layered and texturized. I take a dryer and struggle to get it tamed with very little success. I’m not looking to make my curly hair straight… just get a decent cut that’s versatile.
Lesson learned… now I’ll be on the search for a stylist that specializes in curly hair. Hopefully with better luck.

I was in a dire need of a haircut. In fact, I’ve been so busy I finally found time to get a trim (I’m planning to grow out my hair).
I was recommended by a friend to get a haircut here. And after seeing a bunch of my buddies get their new ‘do’ here, I had to see what the fuss was all about. I made an appointment with Nicki and she was able to accommodate me.
The day I came in she was running a bit late because the heat to their building and water supply was not working (from the snow and cold wind during this Thanksgiving week!!!) and they had to get that fixed prior to taking in their customers. Things like these happen in life and Nicki was able to deal with the situation and accommodate her customers. While in the waiting area, she offers you a selection of complimentary drinks from coffee (Starbucks) to Hot Apple Spice drinks. There are also many magazines to browse through while you wait for your session.
After my wait, Nicki was able to wash my hair and give a scalp massage as well as a hand massage. We talked about the vision of what I wanted my hair cut to turn out to be. She explained how she attends educational classes to continue to be on top of the newest trends and the «ins» with hair care/​style/​cuts. What I liked about Nicki is that she is so passionate in her work and makes sure you are satisfied with your hair cut. She wants to be sure what you want in your cut prior to her cutting it. I walked away feeling happy with my hair cut and she was also there to address any hair needs and concerns I had about styling.
She used some of the products in my hair during my time session there and I was able to talk to her assistant about the prices and items after my cut.
Bella Bliss Salon is decorated ultra girly chic and emits a pampering vibe. I would definitely go back for a cut here and highly recommend this place to anyone.
