Every time We go here I like it more and more. The ambiance is nothing special although the outdoor seating out back is great on a warm summer night. What is special … Always tasty and fresh seafood at a fair price(for 8202), a great wait staff that smiles and really seems happy to serve you … And of course BYOB … Key for this guy when I can walk to dinner. Can’t wait to come back

So this wasn’t the best experience. We had great service. The food was not so great. Our broiled platters were over broiled, and one needed more seasoning. The corn was awful, and the coleslaw was swimming in mayo. The bread was delicious.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Great seafood, friendly, fast service, pretty good pricing for what you get. It is restaurant week and for $ 30.16, I didn’t understand the .16 but whatever, you get an appetizer or soup, salad and a main dish… I picked calamari, and baked shrimp and flounder as my main dish. The calamari was really good, lightly coated and crisp fresh calamari. It wasn’t rubbery and the pieces were all rings. Salad was small and basic but good also. Main dish came out and was hot and delicious. The fish was a nice piece of flounder with 5 butterflied shrimp. It also came with a choice of side and I picked the baked potato. Baked potato was good… I only wished that they would have offered additional toppings for it other than butter. And lastly coleslaw was a nice touch to finish off the plate… which was good as well

Very good experience. Fried seafood combo was extremely good. Impressed with flounder, shrimp, crab cake, scallops, and cole slaw. Good size portion. I’ll definitely be eating here again.

I’ve been coming to Stone Harbor/Avalon for 30+ years and must have driven by this place hundreds of times. I wish I had gone in before — what a hidden gem! Everything was great — the service, the food, the casual, fun atmosphere. We had 6 in our party for dinner, 2 with allergies which were handled very impressively, and 2 who are super picky. Everyone was thrilled with their meals(and that the Eagles games was on). The seafood was wonderfully fresh, the French fries were perfectly crispy and salty, and everything else from the cole slaw to the baked potatoes were great. We are going back, often!

I read a lot of mixed reviews about Tonio’s before deciding to go check it out myself — I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it all was! After scanning the menu, I decided on the broiled seafood combo which included flounder, shrimp, scallops, and a crab cake. It was a little on the pricey side, but it was pretty much on par with other seafood restaurants in the area. My order was ready in about twenty minutes and it was a quick in-and-out to pick it up.(Beware the tiny, tight parking lot! If you’re close by, I highly suggest walking over.) The food was absolutely delicious! The fish was super fresh and cooked perfectly. The real standouts were the shrimp(I wanted about 40 more of them) and the crabcake(not a lot of filler). I can’t say enough how good this was — it was exactly what I was craving and well worth the price tag. I wanted to get back to try the lobster reuben(yes, that’s a thing), but ran out of time before heading back to reality. Oh lobster reuben, I’m coming for you! If you’re in Avalon, definitely check this place out!

The best clams in red sauce I’ve ever had. And I’m a life long fresh food girl. Good bye to the other establishments in Avalon that serve food in styrofoam with French fries. I’ll be back.

I am floored by the terrible service here. Our server was wildly unpleasant. We had to ask for our salads after a 50 minute wait. Drinks were never refilled. Appetizers came out cold. We haven’t even gotten our entrees yet, but I’m already underwhelmed and regretting the decision to eat here. Waste of time and money.

Over priced seafood, and rude service. It took 20 minutes to be acknowledge by someone at the counter just to over pay for takeout Raw seafood The stuffed flounder had bones

We love seafood and if you’re into that too this place does not disappoint! We got tonio’s special broiled combo with lobster, scallops, flounder, and crab cake. Everything was fresh and delicious. We also got a corn on the cob on the side which was great. Warning there might be a long wait if you go during certain times but the staff is very nice and friendly and they were apologizing for the wait the while time. Highly recommend.

Dinner last night was AWESOME! The Tuna special was out of this world! My husband had the fried combo, our friend had the scallops, my son had clams over linguini. The appetizers were also delicious. My daughter had pizza delivered from their pizza shop next door. She is addicted to their pizza. The service is outstanding as ALWAYS! They are so personable here. They make us feel like part of the family. That’s why we always come back! Love the BYOB also. 5 stars all be way! Can’t wait to go back before Labor Day wknd!

We’ve come to Tonios for the past two years, and they are consistently on our must visit restaurants. The seafood is almost all broiled or fried, and we always get the broiled on butter. The seafood is always very fresh and incredibly tasty. This season we tried the fish & chips, which were cod(only one option of fish) and was the first place where it reminded me of what I had in England, a large side of fish, lightly bettered and fried whole. The cole slaw is a consistent favorite, and we end up packing up anything we have left for later. The portions are also large, easily feeding one person while we can also share some with one of our kids. We recently had the crab leg special, where all the crabs came out hot, and were seasoned with some old bay. The staff has also always been very friendly. This is a great place for seafood, even if very little of it seems to be local.

Had the cheese pizza and it was mediocre per our whole family. Sauce lacked Italian spices and very sparse with the cheese. Chicken wings were average. Greek salad was good but next time I will ask for romaine lettuce.

Despite what naysayers have posted, my experience has been nothing short of awesome! The staff is fun and accommodating while the food is quite good. Their pizza in terms of mouthfeel and taste is far more enjoyable than places you’ll find on the main drag. Their Cheesesteaks and burgers are always hot n juicy(Try a triple cheeseburger with bacon and fried onions).

Tuna was great. crab cakes had no crabmeat– all filler. Very disappointing for being at the jersey shore. Chris, the entertainer of the night was entertaining. Nice outside dining area.

My friends an I have eaten here twice in the past two years and every time we are very pleased with our meals. We have eaten at various seafood restaurants at the shore points and have found Tonios to be at the top. Food is very good and reasonable for the shore, wait staff is very friendly, and we haven’t had to wait for a seat. We will be back in September. Kudos!

Great service. And the seafood was phenomenal. They catered to out table of 16 excellently. Friendly staff. I had muscles with marinara and linguine and it was delicious. The steamed clams were great too.

The friends told me not to try anything from here but I didn’t listen. I would have considered this slice to be better than Circle pizza if it wasn’t so doughy and cold when I had it. What happened? I ordered a slice and a buffalo chicken cheese steak. The cheese steak was horrible and barely had any buffalo or cheese on it, just dry chicken — at least it was shredded chicken. The girl who took my order was nasty and acted annoyed the entire time I ordered, made me uncomfortable. She didn’t heat the pizza up until after the cheese steak was ready and didn’t keep it in there long enough because it was cold. A disappointing experience when I can only have pizza and cheese steaks when I visit the east coast once a year.

I tried their Seafood Shack last year, and was impressed by how not awful it was(very low expectations down the shore). Ordered a «Rustica» pizza from here on a Saturday. It was $ 19+ for 8 small, square slices. I usually like a thin, crispy crust but this pizza was like a cracker with marinara on it. What’s more, there was hardly any cheese(it says parmagiano, and I could see it was sprinkled on, but couldn’t taste it at all). Their regular pizza used to be descent, but this was a total disappointment. The worst thing is I only ordered it because the wait at Uncle Oogies in Sea Isle was way too long. Should have just waited.

We ate there tonight. I honestly can’t figure out some of the other reviews listed here. It’s a Seafood restaurant. It doesnt advertise itself as Steak and Seafood. Therefore, if you are an adult and order burgers, chicken fingers, and steak — you probably are making a mistake to begin. Usually I’m not so argumentative but some of the reviews here were definitely not helpful. Now — for the prices. This is Avalon. You eat here, you pay a little more. For Avalon, the prices were very reasonable. The staff was friendly and attentive. I watched all of the waitresses and everyone around us got the same professional, friendly, quick service. The food here was very tasty. We had the fried calamari — it was fresh, tasty, and lightly breaded. The sauce was also homemade and good. They served garlic rolls which were also good. My daughter had the crab claws and it was standard. My son had the 50 clams special and my daughter had the mussels in red sauce. They both devoured it and I tasted the red sauce and it was delicious. I had the local caught fluke/flounder stuffed with crab plus their fresh made sautéed veggies and my mom had the grouper. Everything tasted fresh. We’ll be going back. We are down here all summer. We are fans — especially for a good, SEAFOOD meal.
