Our food was fantastic! Don’t judge the food by the simple décor. Not really celiac-friendly, but plenty of steamed shellfish to choose from. Everything we ordered, from blackened salmon to steamed king crab legs and spicy crab and corn soup, was delish!

Stuffy space with not enough windows, inflated prices, mediocre food. Skip the dining room. The fish market looks nice and might be good for takeout raw or cooked seafood, though.

The steamed clams are fantastic!!! Priced right and very convenient, this is a great place to grab a bite on a summer night, or carry out and eat on the deck with a bottle of wine.

Got takeout from Oceanside and they’ve definitely improved the service and the food was on point. Food was ready quickly, packed well for the drive home and very hot and fresh. Fried shrimp platter was the best, and the she crab soup was yummy. Clams Casino isn’t a typical preparation so those fell flat. Chicken Caesar and fried flounder were strong too. Happy to write an updated review and looking forward to ordering again before the week is out!

Will NEVER eat there again. 8hr ER visit IVs for fluids and Zofran for nausea. Great 2014 vacation …

Great family friendly environment and the food was terrific, especially their pastas and broiled seafood. Convenient location right on dune drive. I have been coming to this place for years. It is great to see a group of people who are committed to the area and that is why people keep coming back for more.

Been here several times. Great food and service. No frills, very comfortable and BYOB which is a plus.

We did takeout here and just were not impressed. With so many seafood options down the shore, this one made me feel like I had just made a game changing error in the ninth inning. The crab cocktail lacked flavor, the lobster tail was chewy and the flounder tasted too much like the tin it was served in. The steamed clams were fair at best. The scallops were probably the best part of our meal, but still nothing great. Perhaps all would have been a tad better if we ate there instead of after a 15 minute commute«home». The inside of the market/restaurant was nice and the staff was friendly.

You can’t just complain that it is expensive, because everything is expensive down the shore. However, you at least want good food for that price, and you don’t get that here. The lobster was small and like rubber and I almost broke my teeth on the baked potato. I even gave it a few tries and had the same result every time. Save your money!!!

Food was decent. Wait staff was mostly young, inexperienced college kids. Not very attentive. Wouldn’t come back.

Have to say I was impressed after eating here last year. Tonight’s meal was very good with each of the four of us happy with our dinner. The flounder and scallops blew away what we got at Sylvester’s earlier in the week(compare pics, though one fried and one broiled; flounder is under the scallops). Also the pasta was great as was the chicken fingers. Manager was very attentive and asked if all was ok twice. Definitely will be back!

This restaurant is a BYOB that is also a small seafood market. Walking in, the atmosphere is very casual and open(plenty of room to spread out). The tables have plastic tablecloths and the cups are thick plastic. Bottom line, it is super casual(t shirt and shorts are fine here) and it is very kid friendly. The food is very fresh, reasonably priced for Avalon and delicious. We tried several appetizers and all of them were delicious — shrimp cocktail had 6 very large shrimp that were perfectly chilled; mozzarella sticks for the kids were crispy and served with delicious marinara sauce; the crumbled crab cake over salad was huge with mostly crab meat and no filler and was split in half over a large chopped house salad(this portion was suitable for an entrée); crab cocktail was huge lump crab meat served on a plate. For dinner, the fried scallops were perfectly breaded and fried with no oily aftertaste. They simply melted in your mouth and the portion was very large. The seared tuna was delicious and the broiled flounder and shrimp was very satisfying. All entrees come with cole slaw which was«meh» and also come with a choice of baked potato or fries. Everyone ordered the old bay fries which were addictive. For the kids, there are limited options, but our kids(5&3) were able to find something they liked. As with most shore restaurants, the wait staff is all college kids. Very friendly staff and great with children but sometimes absent or slow. Overall, I rated Oceanside a 3 because I reserve 5 stars for exceptional meals/service. Oceanside is so casual and the limited menu and spotty service bring me to 3 stars even though the food was very good. Food — 4 Atmosphere — 3 Service — 3 Price — 4 Dinner for 10 came to $ 270. The boyfriend and I wanted some no-frills seafood for dinner last Sunday so we strolled over to Oceanside as it came highly recommended. The place was basic, yet very inviting. We had a seat, strategized, and then went for it– i got the broiled scallops with french fries, and he got the scallops/flounder with broccoli. We also split some calamari since I’m new to the seafood game… and its been a big hit. Our waiter brought out bread and butter right away. The rolls were on the dry side, and the butter was on the hard side, but I didn’t go there for the bread and butter… The calamari took quite a while(20 minutes or so) to come out, and it said it was ‘lightly fried’ but there was a lot of breading on this. That aside, it was still pretty delicious. We were lucky in that we had our beers to keep us company. This place is a BYOB, and i must say– that element of it is AWESOME. 4 bud-lights with some no-frills seafood was perfect. Our entrees came out not long afterwards. I’m new to this seafood thing, but what i got was quite a few scallops… so i dug right in. They were delicious. The seasoning was an enhancement, but it didn’t steal the show. The french fries were beer battered and super-crispy. I ordered them with old bay too… and I quite literally couldn’t stop eating them. The cole slaw was ok. Nothing to write home about… but not half bad either. My boyfriend seemed to like his food too. In the end, we left with about 7 scallops to go, and some flounder, and some cole slaw. It made a great lunch the next day. I also have to give props to the service. This place is run by a bunch of young kids… yet they’re very professional, very quick, nice, and they take their job seriously. I was impressed. Overall, this place was quite a treat. The prices were fair(i think), and the BYOB component really just threw it over the top.

The service was horrible. We were served dressing that was 4 months old. Our waitress kept disappearing and we had to ask another waitress to get her. When we said something to her, she was incredibly rude and said she was the manager and we had to deal with her! Made no attempt to resolve issues. Food was not good and order was messed up. Do not eat there, you will be disappointed!

Oceanside Seafood hosted our Rehearsal Dinner for 55 people in Oct 2013. The service was professional & efficient. We were able to enjoy ourselves while we barely noticed they were serving and clearing plates. The food was plentiful & everyone left full. The chowder was so good, as it always is. The shrimp, chicken & crab cake choices left our guests with the perfect entrees for our wedding weekend. The room was set up Perfectly w the hydrangea center pieces. We had an cocktail hour in one room and dinner in the other. Michele suggested we work w the liquor store down the street & allowed us to use the byob option & keep costs down. They even delivered. Michele was a pleasure to work with and created a perfect evening to kick off our wedding weekend. Thank you!

Not sure what’s up with all the people below commenting that this place has«great food» but then give it an «average» 3 star rating. This place deserves a 4 star rating because I have never had a bad meal there. The shore is made up of too many over priced and sub-par places to eat. This place has very fresh, good seafood. Their market sells high quality seafood. Their customer service is excellent. If you know you are going to want to make some octopus on the grill next weekend, they will order you octopus. We get takeout often and even the fried food still is excellently cooked and crispy 20 mins later. And as for people complaining about the ambiance? It’s a seafood joint down the shore! It’s not supposed to be a palace? It’s nice enough and it’s clean and the food is good. They are great with families and kids. 4 stars. Only complaint was those crab fries were RIDICULOUSLY salty. Like I ate 2 and needed a glass of water and a hospital! Other than that, everything I’ve eaten has been excellent and simply prepared — the way seafood should be. Oh and their soups are good too! And the steamers… And the fried shrimp… Go with the simple and you will be happy. Don’t expect good Italian food at a seafood joint. And impersonally wouldn’t touch a lobster roll outside of Maine and mass. Be smart about your order and you should be alright.

The service was terrible and the food was marginal. The steamed clams were excellent and came out fairly quickly. However, it took 3 times asking and for us to go to the front desk to get some bread. The broiled lobster was ok, but not great. The crabcakes were very marginal. Both took over an hour to come out. We never did get one of our side dishes The table next to us left because they hadn’t received their appetizers after waiting over an hour! Needless to say our server was much more attentive after that!

Meh… Deserves 3.5 stars… Definitely not 4 though… Menu was limited, but the food was good. Service was decent, nothing fantastic. Basically, this place is kind of a take it or leave it. I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to come back but it wasn’t awful.
