From a Vietnamese perspective, I gotta say that’s it’s not bad at all. As you take a sip of the broth, you could barley taste any MSG. And that’s a good sign! I got the phở tai with bo vien(beef filet phở with meatballs) and wasn’t bad but wasn’t «wow!» A great amount for the small bowl. I find the little meatballs very cute for some reason because they’re sliced so thin. The side ingredients tasted fresh, no soggy bean sprouts or leaves. Rather eat here then phở Saigon. I think this is an okay phở place so far in Austin. Mediocre but has its own flavor to it. Com xuong on the other hand wasn’t great. Rice was hard and the meat wasn’t good.

My husband and I thought we would give this place a try. I had the fried rice with chicken(C6), the chicken was very dry. I dashed some soy sauce on the entire dish to give it some moisture. My husband had the pork and shrimp combo(B4) his came out great!!! Wonderful flavor. Both dishes had a good amount of food. You wont be hungry after. Overall great service, clean restaurant. We’ll probably be back, I just wont order chicken. :)

This place was incredible. We went shortly after they opened in the morning so the restaurant wasn’t packed and we were seated right when we came in. The service was awesome, we were told about the specials right off the bat(egg rolls and vietnamese coffee) and we ordered both. The egg rolls were incredible and so was the coffee. We got the phở with brisket and flank and that was awesome as well. We will be coming back to visit this place, just the service alone would have me come back, and of course the awesome food is a plus. I really cannot stop saying awesome to describe this place, I was so impressed.

I ordered the Phở Chin and it was honestly the best phở I have ever tasted. I would recommend any family and phở lovers to go to phở phi!

Great service, the manager was so sweet and helpful in helping us decide what we wanted in our phở. Food was great as well. Highly recommend!

Hooray! Another viable option to add to my family’s regular dining out rotation, and it’s very close to home. Thanks for joining the neighborhood, Phở Phi. So far, I’ve only had the classic Phở Tai and the pot of steeped green tea. The tea was fragrant and delightful, definitely a higher quality than I’ve been served in similar shops around town. The quality of beef in the soup was perfect, freshly carved into the thinnest slices and served rare as it should be. The broth was dark but clear and flavorful, and the side plate of veggies & herbs were crisp and alive. Everything met or exceeded my expectations, including the volume of food in the small bowl — it was very filling and I cannot imagine ever ordering the large. My he-man dining partner ordered his usually grilled pork vermicelli with eggroll and declared it «Solid!» He ate every last morsel, so I’m taking that as an endorsement. My son, a great fan of phở broth and noodles for the past 3 years(a full third) of his short life, declared it the best phở ever, which means I no longer have to suffer his previous favorite phở place(which has gone down hill of late). I certainly appreciated that our server had no problem with the boy’s picky order(no veggies or green stuff of any kind in the bowl, please). If it makes any difference to you, we were the only table of non-Asians in the place. The décor is very clean & modern, with some nice arch details added to the ceiling of the dining room. The place is much improved over the looks of the former tenant, Food Shui(RIP). Guess what else? They also have a gluten free menu for all you allergy-prone, special diet eaters. That seems to contradict one of the other reviewers here who reportedly tasted MSG in the broth… Sad trombone, they do add a surcharge of $ 0.50 per item for take out orders. If they ever add delivery service, they’ll earn my 5th star even with the upcharge.

If you’re ravenous and happen to be on Parmer, Phở Phi is a decent choice to find food that will fill your belly. Their portions are impressive. The food, on the other hand, didn’t impress us at all. We ordered some spring rolls, phở with brisket, and vermicelli with pork. I also splurged and got an iced coffee(café sua da). Of all those items, the iced coffee stood out to me the most. It clearly conveyed to me who Phở Phi’s target clientele is: people who are Vietnamese food newbies. Traditionally, when you order a Vietnamese ice coffee, you’re presented with a tiny French drip and a glass of ice. The French drip brews the coffee into a cup that contains condensed milk. When it’s done brewing, you stir the condensed milk and coffee together, and you pour it into a glass with ice. Most Vietnamese places will serve their iced coffee this way. Not Phở Phi. Instead, the iced coffee comes out pre-made a la Dunkin’ Donuts. I am pretty sure that they do not use real condensed milk. It tasted very powdery and chalky, like it was made from some sort of instant mix. It was probably the worst iced coffee I’ve ever had. As for the food: both noodle dishes were edible, but not particularly enjoyable. My phở broth was extremely oily and the meat was excessively fatty. The fish sauce served with the vermicelli wasn’t sweet, spicy, tart, or salty. It just tasted like diluted fish water. The worst and most offensive dish was the spring rolls. The wrapping was thick and chewy, and the filling was bland and overly noodle-y. On the plus sides for Phở Phi: the place is really clean, the servers were overly friendly, and the portions are massive. If this is your first time eating Vietnamese food, you’ll probably enjoy it. I’m just way too spoiled by my mom’s cooking to overlook the details.

Disclaimer: I had the vegetarian Phở is veg broth(I know, totes boring, right?!) Well, it was. The veg Phở was rather disappointing in flavor. The tofu in it was superb, though! I could of just snacked on that — and pretty much did. The veggies in the Phở were fresh and not overcooked. Just overall wasn’t any flavor there. I also ordered veg spring rolls, which were on the same flavor spectrum. I don’t expect much of tofu, but there wasn’t any basil or crunch or anything to it. I left my food mostly unfinished, which is not a habit of mine. Again, this could totally be because of the vegetarian factor — so you’re forewarned. I will say the service was good — the staff was attentive and friendly which is the one redeeming factor of the visit. With so much Phở competition in Austin, it’s unfortunate to come across a new shining star that’s a miss.

Have had the vegetable phở twice and it was delicious both times. On my first visit my server made a tofu veggie roll for me by request. The broth is excellent and the portions are huge! Very affordable, glad to have them in the neighborhood. Staff is very nice and service is excellent. The dining room is bright and comfortable. Will definitely be coming here regularly.

I’m no phở aficionado, I’ve just had pneumonia for the past 2 weeks, so I feel like I am getting the jive of the atx phở scene. But, I lived in Houston for long enough that I know my phở, can at least order in Vietnamese, and have an ex mother in law that made broth to be reckoned with. But seriously, I have been hoping for a little place like this to open. I have really gotten tired of the phở saigon and phở dan corporate mandated broth recipe. The thing that really made me love the place, was who I assume is the owner, she is so damn lovely. When you get the phở to go, she blanches the noodles and lord so help me… the eye round, copious amounts. A great amount of basil and mung beans. Thank you Phở Phi! The only thing I would add, and totally not negative. Just saran the broth containers and a little bit more lettuce for the egg rolls, maybe pickled carrots too, But Im a wrapper with rolls. Ordered togo. Phở Special size small, glad I asked them how big a large bowl looks like. I can easily split the small order into 2 meals(maybe because I’m on a diet). But the meats were not skimmed on; there were sufficient slices of different types of meat to worth the dollars I paid! Will be coming back whenever I’m in the mood for home country food! :)

Tasty and Fast! The Phở bowls are huge; you’ll have leftovers for sure. Their entrees are quite large too. The food tastes fresh and is good quality. I’m so excited that they’re in our neighborhood now!

Pretty crowded the day my husband and i wanted to try this new phở place. Don’t go on a Sunday after church. Service took a while to order. We had to get someone’s attention to order. Then it felt like we were the last table to get our phở. I think they make their bo vien(meatball) from scratch. It was good. After adding more pepper, fish sauce and what not, the phở was good. So obviously i wasn’t big on the service and the phở was okay. I might give it another try. Hopefully not when it is busy.

They have really friendly service here! The broth wasn’t too heavy; however, a little saltier than I like it. It was a little similar to Phở Dan, which is my favorite Phở place. I wish they had a napkin dispenser at the table. Their water is quite divine! You can tell when restaurants have good water, and they do indeed have divine water! Even their ice cubes are clear! Overall, great service, decent food, pleasant experience.

Located next to Palm Beach Tan, right were the old Food Shui used to be. Zero wait, at 10:30AM, was seated promptly. The table was pretty small, there were two chairs but I think it should be a one person table. There were other larger tables on the side. I ordered P13, Dac Biet, which costs an extra dollar, and a glass of water. My bowl came out fast, not a lot of onions but that’s okay. I noticed the broth clear but was darker than other Phở restaurants around town and that’s totally fine. I didn’t have to add hoisin sauce because there was enough flavor there to eat it raw with a sprinkle of lime. The meat was pretty generous for a small bowl of phở, but I did pay an extra dollar for P13. I could be wrong but the cut of meat just wasn’t on par with what I get at Phở Dan. «What the phở is this?» I thought to myself. There was pieces of meat with bright blue markings. I had an idea of what it was, never in my life have I been served meat with blue dye on it. I had to go back to work anyways paid for my check and bounced. I noticed a sweet aftertaste in my mouth afterwards that lasted a few hours, there was probably quite a bit of MSG in the broth. My cousin is addicted to that stuff but it’s not for me. Would I come back, probably not, especially when there are better alternatives nearby. But hey, it’s 20% off in November, give it a shot, who knows. TLDR Look at the picture

Great food and the waiters were really nice! The atmosphere is more modern different from other phở restaurants. The broth of the phở is lighter and doesn’t make you feel drowsy after you eat it. Overall good experience.

As a born and raised Austinite, I’ve had my fair share of Phở places in town. Phở Phi is hands down the best Phở place in Austin! My parents and I got the phở tai bo vien and the bun thit nuong cha gio. The phở broth is definitely the best in the area. It was rich in flavor and seasoned perfectly. The meat was sliced perfectly and tasted excellent as well! The egg rolls in the bun thit nuong cha gio were crunchy and delicious, and the chargrilled pork was seasoned and cooked great! I will definitely be coming back! All their items are 20% off this month!

I am very excited for this new restaurant. It’s possibly the best Phở I have ever had. The broth is a family recipe that simmers for 14 hours and tastes very clean and fresh, not oily. It had just the right hint of spice from fresh jalapeños. We had the brisket, eye of round and flank steak Phở. The vermicelli bowl with shrimp and pork was also very tasty. Again, the broth served on the side was the perfect light flavor for the dish. Both were topped with fresh green herbs. Everything on the menu is gluten free, except the egg rolls. I recommend the iced coffee with condensed milk for a sweet treat. Wait staff and management were very attentive. Ask for their personal recommendations. They didn’t disappoint!
