Beth D.’s ROTDC @ Winebelly

This intimate gathering turned out to be one of my favorite dinners ever.
My parents happened to be in town for a Memorial Day march in honor of our country’s fallen heroes on Sunday. After an early and long morning including a treacherous drive out to Burnet, TX in torrential rain for this event, accompanied by my parents, my daughter and former fellow Elite Unilocaler Alyssa B., we descended upon Winebelly also joined by Melissa A. and Errol M. to end our day by celebrating Memorial Day, friendship in general, my parents’ anniversary, and my recent ROTD from May 17^th.
I’m very grateful for each and every person who sat at that table. I appreciate everyone’s welcome of my parents, their gracious conversation and wonderful presence.
We wined, we dined, we desserted. And talked and laughed and enjoyed.
Thank you all very much. Happy 31^st Anniversary to my wonderful parents. Happy ROTDC to me. And thank you, Winebelly, for being awesome, for putting up with us, for serving us pork belly and swordfish and chicken liver mousse and wine and gelato cheese plates and meat plates and just, oh, so much goodness.
I look forward to many wonderful meals here!

So am I now the biggest fan of Winebelly? Not really. But since my first visit here, they have tweaked their tapas, added real desserts, and remain the hip & cool destination point on South 1^st & Oltorf. I should probably do an update. But on this particular Sunday, Winebelly gets five stars from me simply because:
1. It was a Beth D ROTDC.
2. I enjoyed meeting her parents.
3. Beth D is stunning in red. I’m pretty big on no-​brainer things.
Among the six of us we did most of the menu, and about four bottles of wine. (Some half-​priced on Sundays & Mondays.) Always a pleasure to see Alyssa B again. And afterward, Melissa A & I may have partaken of one or two more chardonnay varietals, as we closed the place down. I kind of like looking at that bottle indentation and proclaiming, «Punt.» So, a Beth D ROTDC? With cool parents & fun company? Yeah, I’d say that’s well within the realm of «As-​good-​as-​it-​gets.» A good time all around.
