Oh, the humanity! I was so sad to hear the Globe had closed. My sister lives in Mid-Town, and I would always come here with her on every visit. Tasty dishes, with a great appetizer menu. The lamb loin was the best I’ve ever had. Some very memorable family moments there… I won’t forget it. Great wine list, and amazing cocktails. Best Margarita in the World! Number two would be the Four Seasons Hotel in Bangkok… the bar in the courtyard. Oh well. *sigh* *sob* On to other culinary adventures.

if you want a cool hangout, get some drinks, this seems like a nice place. if you want good food, might want to avoid this place depending on what you get. my wife and i went with some friends recently before les mis at the fox. we sat outside, nice setting but it was a bit odd when the hostess wiped off the table(some remnants from nearby trees on them) with her hands. not that big of a deal to me but you get an idea they don’t pay attention to details. i would hope that once she noticed this problem she would wipe down the other tables before the guests arrived but doubt it. whatever, the main deal is the food. for appetizer we had the hummus which was good and the«barely touched scallops» which was … not good. it’s served finely sliced and raw which i don’t necessarily mind but it definitely left a distinctly fishy aftertaste. not good. i had to suck on a couple of lemons to get rid of the taste. my wife had the organic chicken which i also sampled. it had a nice crispy skin but surprisingly NO taste. i mean no seasoning, salt, pepper, nothing. i guess organic means no pesticides and no taste? the portion size was good but for almost $ 20 not worth it. i mean it was as bland as meat can get. the lamb chop was a total rip off for $ 28. i mean, come on, i could pay $ 20 more and eat all i can at fogo AND the lamb chops at fogo are much better! if you want to eat some good lamb chops, don’t go here! i would recommend fogo or pricci as far as places i have tried lamb. now, on a good note, the lamb did not have a gamey taste; however, again, there is no taste. did the chef have a cold that day and couldn’t taste anything? the portion size was tiny, the meat was slightly on the tough side and overcooked(i was not asked how i wanted it cooked). on a better note, my friends had the steak frites which they liked. final answer: if you go, don’t get the lamb rack, chicken or scallops appetizer. otherwise, can’t comment on the food but good ambience.

My first visit was in 2006, when this spot was new, hip and super hot. Remember when all-white restaurant décor was in? I returned recently(first in July then last week) and found the Globe to be just the same… décor-wise at least. I’m happy to report that everything else was much improved. My friend and I sat at the bar on a Wed. night after work. The bartender was awesome; friendly, personable and even suggested champagne by price, which is rare in this city. We didnt have any food(we were having a serious convo), but would happily eat here anytime. On Monday’s they have $ 5 «happy hour» small plates, which is a nice perk.

The GLOBE… let me see, what I can say about this spot that won’t be too harsh! Well, the décor is nice. The service is bad… the food is okay… and the atmosphere is WACK! I like the layout of the seat arrangements, the cute little table chairs but the atmosphere lights need to be dime a bit… its bright as heaven up in this piece! The lights were straight blinding me forreal. Our waiter was the worst yet! No disrespect but he appear to be a college student that don’t give an ish… He took forever with our drinks then to return after we had ordered 20mins later to tell us that one of our dishes were not in stock! Meaning: sorry we don’t have that dish tonight… remind you: this was at least 20mins later after order had been placed. WACK! Therefore, we had to wait another 20mins to get our newly place meals that were in stock…(I love the term stock… and out of stock!) Unbelievable…maybe bcuz it was a late night and the setup that night was for a bright early lunch… not a sexy dinner w/drinks. Returning…hhhhmmmmmm right now. heck to the NAW!

My review is based solely on organizing a private party with a fixed appetizer menu at the Globe, so here goes: I organized a work event at The Globe to coincide with the Flicks on 5th movie. We had a private portion of the outdoor patio and seriously enjoyed the private viewing of the movie on The Globe’s 12-foot movie screen that they set up on movie night! The food was excellent. I ordered a buffet-style setup from their cocktail/appetizer menu. Portions were quite small and could have been larger but were still very tasty and the staff kept the food coming so that all guests stayed fed. Some highlights we had were Rosemary Focaccia Sliders – the beef was cooked medium(which I give props to the chef for because I always just thought it was impossible to achieve anything but well-done for sliders). We also had assorted Bruschetta(tasty but could have been bigger pieces of «toast» with more toppings on each), Risotto Cakes(these were my absolute favorite – creamy, cheesy risotto lightly breaded and fried into a ball shape), and Chicken Skewers(well-seasoned and tender). The wait staff(thanks Chanda!) was very attentive and quick considering they were taking drink orders for 50 people for 3 hours. If the people in my party didn’t want to wait on the waitresses for their drink, they visited the Globe’s bar inside. The bartender was friendly, personable and quick. The décor is very modern, clean and classy. The main open area next to the bar is inviting with low couches to sit and mingle on while waiting for a table. I had a great experience at The Globe and many of my co-workers told me the same. I can’t wait to visit again soon!

I’ve been to The Globe a couple times now, first for a drinks/apps gathering before a business presentation. The most recent for lunch. The ambiance is really nice — very clean and airy. Upscale, without being intimidating or trying too hard. The food is excellent. The service was very attentive and while I was nervous when our water glasses were so short and they wouldn’t get refilled often enough(I drink a lot of water), the server was always there to top off our glasses and I never had to ask for it. Menus are online for people to check pricing.

OK I have to admit I was there for a b-day party, but the drinks were great. The staff was also great, as was the décor… which is mostly white and gives the clean feeling. Since I did not have the food I can only go off what other people there told me and they all said the food was great. I heard the monk fish was especially good, and from my angle it looked great. As for location it is right by GT, but it is still not a young crowd. It is more of an adult crowd but with casual dress, for men jeans and a collared shit(and the equivalent for women.) I am looking forward to going back and having the full dinner experience. Will update when that happens…

I was actually really impressed by this place. The minute we walked in the door we were’nt really sure what to think. Is this place a little too snobby, are we dressed too casually(we had on t-shirts and jeans and this to me at first glance did not seem like a tee n’ jeans kinda place), how is the vibe? It actually turned out to be a great evening starting 2 seconds after we walked in the door and second guessed our choice in restaurants that evening. There wasn’t anyone standing up front to greet us but immediately the manager did and asked if we minded waiting while he checked on the tables. Soon after he walked away 2 waiters also asked us if we could be seated/helped. The customer service was excellent. They made us feel very comfortable. As another person said, it wasn’t a pretencious vibe at all. The staff smiled and was extremelly courteous and friendly with everyone it seemed. **If you haven’t noticed already I am HUGE on customer service. It will make you or break you as far as i’m concerned.** We were promptly seated and our waiter arrived shortly after. We placed our drink orders, a glass of champagne($ 13) and some sort of mixed drink($ 10) and began to look over the menu. We were a little taken back by the price of the meals(and yes, also the drinks. lol no cheap beers here). $ 10 for an open sandwich which our waiter informed us not to get because although he said they were very good, they were also very small. Our waiter also had what I think was a french accent so that just added to the vibe that poured out of the walls here. Very nice. We finally decided on 2 filets. They were beyond delicious!!! One of the best steaks I had in a long time, also one of the pricier ones($ 20 a piece for a steak and some french fries) It’s not Outback though so I can’t argue and it was d**m good. Did I mention that? It was gooood. lol All in all I suppose I should give the Globe 5 stars because I loved the vibe, the employees were extremely friendly and on top of their game, and the food was great. Our bill ran about $ 80 or so which isn’t technically bad but not inexpensive either considering we were just gonna grab a bite to eat, hop into Blockbuster, and head home for a pretty tame evening. Ok, so after typing this I decided to give them 5 stars. lol I’m easily pleased but then again they definitely earned these stars.

Who eats quail eggs??? I went to the Globe on 1-12-2008 for my birthday celebration with 12 of my friends. We were seated in the back of the restaurant so there was no atmosphere… we couldn’t even see the bar area. The food sucks… drinks were ok. The waitress was acting like she was just being nice so maybe she could get more than the already added 18% gratuity. There was nothing on the menu that I wanted to eat. There was a pasta dish that had quail eggs as one of the ingredients. Gross ! I ended up eating over priced chicken. The total bill for 13 people was over $ 400 and everyone did not eat. The Globe sucks and I will never go there again.

If the first thing someone tells me about a place is how swanky it is, that’s a bad sign. Seriously… I’ve said it in other reviews… I don’t care about a place being«cool», «trendy» or a great place to «see and be seen»… its not a plus to me. The food and service are all I really care about. Get that right and I will reward you for it with my business. :) Anyhow, we went here with 15 others for my wife’s birthday. The reservation process was easy, they confirmed with me the morning of the event and we were all seated promptly at the specified time. They gave us a room of our own in the back(though by the end of our meal they started putting other people back there, which I didn’t think was very good). Our waitress was rather scatterbrained, but she did do a passable job given the size of the group, and she split the checks which we were very grateful for. The drinks they were serving were pretty good. My wife had an «organic margarita» which I thought was very tasty. The desserts were delicious, especially the chocolate torte with real mint ice cream(seriously it was like ground mint and frozen cream). I wasn’t super amazed with the entrees I tried but maybe that was just me. This just isnt my kind of place though, so 3 stars.

I’ve always enjoyed the Globe, whether for lunch, dinner or just for drinks. It seems to be the perfect mix of nice enough to have a business lunch, but not too expensive or pretentious, with a bit of cool thrown in. It does get a bit more ‘loungy’ in the evenings. The food is a fresh take on American, but unlike many places, it doesn’t feel like it is trying too hard. I love the space, clean and contemporary, but not cold. I’m not sure if he’s turned it over, but the original owner was wonderful — constantly greeting guests and showing that he cares. I think its a perfect restaurant for dinner before hitting the midtown scene

I really enjoy coming to this restaurant and it all has to do with the people who work here. They have created a fun, team atmosphere and every associate knows they are there for the sole purpose of helping customers. Yes, they have delicious food, tasty libations, and a beautiful space. The people make the difference and here’s a quick(albeit simple) observation that has proven their people to me. On each of my 3 visits I was wearing an overcoat. Before the thought entered my mind someone was already asking if they could take my coat. It is stored for you while you dine and I love that they don’t add extra work for me when it’s time to leave(i.e. it’s free, so no having to worry about having cash… you don’t have to keep up with a claim check… no time consuming rules about when and where to retrieve it). Honestly, at most other restaurants it can be quite a task getting it back and I normally prefer to keep it stuffed at my table. Along the same thought, at the last Unilocal Elite Event I forgot to validate my parking. I walked back in and went to the bar to ask how I did that. The bartender(who was noticeably busy) took my ticket without question and walked around across the room to stamp it for me. He could have pointed and said«go there» and instead he made an extra effort to help me and I appreciated it(thanks, Russell). Definitely a great place to eat, drink, and enjoy yourself and some friends. There is great energy here and you’ll notice it too!

Chocolate flavored starlite mints in the men’s room, saaaay what?! Oh Globe, you had me at hello. You have lots of moxie, kid. Your spry, modern sophisticated insides made me feel like a cool patron. I liked what you had to offer! I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to try your food menu, however. But next time, Globe, next time!

I’ve been to the Globe for pretty much every meal possible — brunch, lunch, dinner — and now for an event( ) and late night drinks, too! The interior is all clean lines + modern décor.. . Yes, the Herman Miller chairs make me drool. Yes, I think the Pelligrino wall is fabulous(probably helps that I could drink the stuff by the gallons). Yes, I wish my living room looked like this. And, yes, I even love the font they use on the menu. Ah, and the food! My most recent meal was a tableful of steak frites from their late night menu — did you know that the closer it gets to midnight, the better a steak tastes? As for the rest of the menu, it’s new American all the way — they’ve got selections like well done classics like fried calamari and a fresh fish selection. Actually.. . last year one of their recipes that I had tried, the spaghettini, was published in the paper. I liked it enough to save it and even email it to a friend(um, but no, it didn’t taste quite like it does at the Globe when I tried to make it)! And as an event space, there are a lot of options — from the lounge area in the front, to the ‘library,’ a private back room. They’re well staffed and suited to cater to special events. Depending on the night, they have valet, but they always validate parking in the near by parking deck, which is a huge bonus for Midtown. This is one of the restaurants that I’ve frequented quite a bit — and I’m excited to see the upcoming new additions they soon plan to add to the menu. And if you won’t let me move in, at least you’ll let me dine here.

Very nice! Inviting atmosphere; seemingly upscale without being pretentious and very modern. Lots of private booths for a bit of first level intimacy. Good bartenders and servers… especially Joy… pleasant, upbeat and easy on the eyes. Wonder what their lunch is like?

You know what goes really well with bacon… wait for it… wait for it… yep, bacon. How can you really go wrong? If I ruled the world, everything would have some sort of baconacity to it, there would be bacontastical celebrations in the street and every day would be a bacon holiday! And so it was no surprise. given my strong draw toward all things B, that as soon as our server read off the specials and he got to halibut, yeah yeah yeah, with white beans, yeah yeah yeah, and bacon. Oh? What? Yep, I will have that!!! It was also about 8:30am LA time, so the fact that I ordered fish was incredible, but it had bacon so what are you gonna do! Now for the place itself. I liked it. It’s definitely got a modern vibe to it, but it has just enough of a cool loungy feel to it that I could see it warming up a bit at night. That is usually the problem I have with super modern, white walled sleek and trendy places. There’s no warmth, but with their strategic placement of light greens throughout the place, it brought enough softness to the whites and greys to make me like it. Also met one of the owners and she is absolutely delightful. I would come back here again as their menu has some really neat lunch stuff and I would definitely like to see what they can rock in the evening here with some little candles and some swanky dj tunage :)

The Globe is a hard place for me to review. On the one hand, the first 2 times I went in 2005 were good visits. Service was rendered with the easy arrogance of a hip new joint, as if saying, «we just _know_that you want to be here, eating with us.» The food was rather good — with the standard New American fusion of many different styles. I enjoyed the limited wine list, and the desserts — as well as the many of the appetizers. I remember the Tempura Asparagus quite well from both those visits, as well as some of the beef dishes. It’s a shame that the next 3 times left me far more non-plussed. The food no longer had the same crisp intentionality that brings good recipes from decent food, to memorable dining revelations. Place any of the fairly pricey morsels(for a joint immediately next to a college campus!) in your mouth, and you’ll not be disappointed. I just wish that it was of the quality that I’d first enjoyed shortly after the Globe opened. At this point, factoring in the price to quality factor, I can only give it a 3. There are better examples of this food style around.

The atmosphere is sleek and trendy and is the first thing I noticed about this caf in Tech Square(the edge of Georgia Tech’s campus on 5th street). Other than being incredibly out of place(no Tech students can afford these gourmet prices), it somehow fills up with business folks relaxing like they would in France sitting at rot iron tables under the lush green trees lining the courtyard. If you step inside you’ll seen white shelves holding an array of crisp green glass bottles. Take a look closely and you’ll notice they are San Pellegrino bottles, Italian mineral water. There are a couple of smell settees(English word for sofas) with a selection of Vogues and GQs strategically placed on light wooden coffee tables. The bar is off to the right, fully stocked and with guests sitting on the swivel white stools. The menu is a simply gourmet, and even the chef becomes an artists with his placement of garnishes on the sleek white plates. The drinks menu continues the trend of sleek and upscale business class. I’ve tried the Momo Special, the Globe’s twist on the mojito, and the Italian Job with a mix of fruit juices and campari. Cocktails and glasses of wine range from $ 8 — $ 11. Reasonable if you appreciate well mixed drinks in a trendy atmosphere. However, I still think the location is odd.
