My husband loves his cup of Counter Culture coffee and I had a delicious blended herbal tea.

Simply the best coffee in Asheville and I’ve tried them all. The staff is very friendly which you don’t get a lot of places. I drive out of my way and past several other coffee shops to hit this one. Baked goods are also yummy!

Went here for breakfast/coffee on my way out of town. Was my second visit, my first being early in the morning last December. The shop was, in fairness, significantly less busy during my first visit, but today I just didn’t have a great experience. My drip coffee was forgotten, so I had to wait to get someone’s attention, who ended up not being apologetic at all, and seemed mostly inconvenienced by me. The staff in general was a little less«warm»(to put it nicely) than I’m used to. My breakfast sandwich also somehow took 30 minutes to prepare, though it was pre made and only needed to be put in a panini press. After the wait, the food was really good, and the drip coffee was solid as well. Service might have just been a fluke today, try it out for yourself!

Order the Cuban, EXCELLENT!!! If you enjoy an Americano with half/half then you will love the Cuban, severs like an 8oz cup of coffee, steamed half/half a pinch of salt and raw sugar. I really encourage anyone to order this!

Amazing cappuccino and cold brew. Just so smooth and perfectly executed. Friendly service. Next visit to Asheville I will go back here and try more beverages.

Love both locations. Great staff that serve CounterCulture coffee. The barista didn’t feel my drink was up to their high standards so he remade it, without me asking him to. Got to love that.

This is my go-to spot for coffee every time I’m in Asheville. The use Counter-Culture coffee and offer some really good smoothies. My personal favorites are the Mayan Mocha(with almond milk) and the Down Low(also with almond milk in place of orange juice. They have delicious baked goods and offer a few sandwiches as well. Pretty much everything I’ve had here has been excellent and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. If you are in the area and like any of the above this is a must-stop-at place.

I feared I wouldn’t find good coffee in Asheville, until I found this place. AMAZING! I got the Rwanda Pour Over and a phenomenal Cortado.

What can I say that hasn’t been said already? Cool place and people, tasty, well-prepared coffee. I had the Diablo, which had an interesting kick from cayenne.

Having been to the other location over the weekend upon the recommendation of Janet an Ashvillian, I knew I had to try the other outpost of High Five and it did not disappoint. Slightly larger and more bustling then the Rankin Ave location High Five puts out quality beverages for even the most picky coffee lover. My latte was smooth and bold and their option of skim milk made my day. Looks like a lot of locals use this location as a meeting place and a home away from home to meet and work. The owners have taken this into account and have made the interior comfortable enough for that to happen. High Five is a great independent coffee shop with a cool local vibe. Definitely fits well with the aestetics of what I have found to be uniquely Ashville.

Fantastic coffee, my favorite has been the French press, but as I can’t always get it because it’s a little pricy I’ve explored their drip and their lattes, both of which have been excellent. I like the feel of the coffee though it would be nice if it wasn’t so crammed. Definitely a great place to chill and have a good coffee.

I absolutely loved this shop. The baristas are so kind and the environment is so inspiring and relaxing. Such a great place to catch a few quiet moments in the hubbub of downtown.

I would give it 6 stars if i could. After driving three hours on two hours of sleep we arrived here. This place was incredible. Best vibe ever from a coffee shop and the drinks them selves are very good. I had the chai lattee and fell in love.

Wish I could have stayed longer. Just a quick pop in to get a little something before heading back home. We ordered a shot in the dark and an affogato. Rich, creamy, and the perfect pick me up for the drive. The interior was clean with plenty of seating. Best of all they serve Counter Culture Coffee which is probably one of the best organic coffees mainstream. Plenty of snacks and sweets too in the display case, but we didn’t partake even though we were tempted. On our next visit to Asheville, I’ll be sure to bring a book and stay a while with a latte.

Why 4 stars? Because I needed a quick jolt, and I got it here. — — — This review will be far from an essay, because my experience was a brief one. High Five Coffee is on the bottom floor of what appears to be a residential building of sorts. Parking can be found in a gravel lot across the street, if you don’t land any street spots nearby. Once inside, I found a fairly typical, lovely independently owned, coffee shop. The menu was simply, which led me to ordering a basic latte. The girl who took said order was the emotionless hipster type. A 3% effort to smile wouldn’t have hurt, but also wouldn’t deter me from visiting in the future. My cup of heated caffeine was just what was needed post to wake and heat me up on a chilly, autumn afternoon in the mountains. Now that the other coffee staple in town, has umm… been unceremoniously vanquished, this will be my new go-to for coffee near downtown Asheville.

Cute industrial-chic coffee shop in the high point/downtown area. Staff was friendly and ordering was simple & easy, even in the bustle of a rainy 8am morning crowd. I had to wait for 12 minutes for my coffee. I counted because there wasn’t anywhere open to sit and it was just me and the barista awkwardly around the bar. I would return but hopefully not in any sort of a rush. :)

I love the High Five coffee bar! They just opened a new location downtown, too, that I’m looking forward to checking out. This place, though, is small and homey. I enjoy the atmosphere, dim lights, and overall it’s a nice place to get a delicious cup of Joe or a cortado(love cortados) and work on your laptop. It’s a nice place that’s close enough to downtown to be cool, but not close enough to get all the extra tourists in. The coffee is very yummy, too. They use counter culture coffee and all go through the training(there are certifications framed on the wall). Not only that, but the specials or Batista’s choices they have are always really creative, beautiful visually, and on point taste wise. This is just a nice little local coffee shop to stop by going into work or to do work in. No frills, and I dig that.

First of all their coffee is fantastic. Roasted and brewed excellently, I never add anything to it. No room! More coffee! Secondly, anything else you get there is going to be great too. If I want to treat myself, I get a dirty chai with chai made n house. They always have a barista’s choice drink that changes frequently and is very creative if you’re adventurous. You can also get a breakfast sandwich, quiche, fruit parfait, bagel with cream cheese, or other delicious baked goods depending on the day. It’s a great spot to stop in and relax for a bit or drop by to grab a coffee when you’re on the run. They have plenty of parking right across the street, which is a definite plus downtown!
