If you want some carne asada ‘steak’ tacos and a cheap Mexican beer you might enjoy yourself here. The patio outside is nice on a cool day. Nothing to rave about, and the prices are a little high for the food grade. Skip the margaritas and don’t expect much from the chips with store bought salsa. It was nice to step out of all the modern foodie extravagance and feel ‘not in Arlington’ for a bit!

Absolutely terrible food and service! The meat was inedible and our waters were never re-filled and we never received the ketchup we asked for twice. I will never go back or recommend. Hoping it closes so something decent can move in.

This place gets some bad reviews but we were impressed with the service, food and beer. Nothing fancy, but solid Tex-Mex fare with a nice Mexican beer list. Everything is refurbished and much nicer than its previous incarnations.

I have lived in the neighborhood a long time and decided to try this place since it reopened as The Corner Tex-Mix and always liked the patio and easy parking when I drove by. I was pleasantly surprised at the upscale interior. Even more surprised at the menu, combining American diner-grill fare with Tex-Mex. Not extensive, but I found several Tex-Mex things I like. I picked Lomo Saltado but kept my hopes down since the who menu was priced lower than I thougt ut would be, walking into the nice interior. What a great deal! Generous steak portion, reallly good, warm tortillas(2) on the side, steal was very flavorful. Rice was ok, beans a little watery but tasty and a nice chunk of lime for the salad. Only downsides: A small language problem, not a big deal. And stale tortilla chips and with a so-so salsa-no fresh ingredients, seemed canned or bottled– but hey– free, and and those menu proces not a deal-breaker. I liked the crisp, pretty table linens and the fact that the linens, silver and glassware were quite clean. There is a small but nice looking bar setup in back. I think readers need to take the other reviews with grain of salt(as with much here on Unilocal), and try this place out for yourselves. I’ll go back.

When I saw this place I was excited thinking I could get some good, authentic Tex Mex. If you too are thinking that, stop, you are wrong. Fast food Tex Mex in Texas puts this to shame. There are not even tacos or burritos on the dinner menus, the margaritas are all too fruity, the chips are stale, the salsa is obviously store bought, and the quality would have you questioning getting the fish, which is at least half their menu. Also, dress lightly, it is HOT in there during the summer. Go to Guapos in Shirlington… we did.

Avoid this place like a plague. The service here was the worst service I’ve ever received. Our waitress had a really disinterested attitude, and it made us feel really uncomfortable. When we asked her questions about the menu, she shrugged her shoulders or rolled her eyes. Later on, while we were waiting for our food, she sat at a nearby table and took out a small bag containing nail products, she then proceeded to do her nails. Aside from the poor service and strong nail polish odor, the food itself was the WORST thing I’ve ever had. I honestly do not understand how this place is still in business. I ordered the ceviche to start off and the fish itself tasted as if it had been washed with soap. One bite and it ruined my entire appetite. Then our entrees came and they too tasted awful. We came to the conclusion that their food was spoiled. The food was not eatable and all of it was left on the table. I was ready to just walk out of that place. My mother felt the need to pay, although we were sure we were served spoiled food. I made it very clear to the person that was suppose to be in charge that if a health inspector was made aware of this situation the could easily be closed down. During our conversation she admitted that the cook«made a mistake» and gave us food that was from the day before. I was livid. My mother has a kinder heart and insisted we pay for the spoiled food we did not eat. I strongly suggest you never go to this place. I assume it won’t be open for long.

This is not Guapo’s, folks. The portions were generous, but the quality of the fajitas steak wasn’t great. The dishes weren’t entirely clean and the dining tables outside had some weird sticky plastic tarp covering them. The servers were prompt and the food came out fast, but their english wasn’t great and there was no beverage menu — the server just recited a list from memory. The next time i want tex mex, i’ll be going to guapos or cantina mexicana, or taqueria el poblano instead — all of which are much better.

I live in the area. This restaurant left a colored advertisement on my car windshield that was parked in the private parking lot of my condo community. Unfortunately, they left them right before a wave of massive rainstorms came through all day. I found it the next day completely glued to my windshield — it took a lot of scrubbing with windex and goo gone to get it off. I have not been to this restaurant and now have zero desire to do so. Please respect personal property.

I have not been to this restaurant to eat either, and will echo what another Unilocaler has said. They left a thick colored ad on every car in our condo complex’s parking lot, and mine is now stuck to my windshield like a sticker. I now need to go in with glue remover and spend my time removing it so it will be safe for me to drive. Horrible first impression — I will never eat at this place.

I live around the corner from here and have witnessed the changing of hands. What always baffled me though was that even when the restaurant would undergo a change, it would still be the same genre of food. We decided to finally give this place a try on a Friday night. I do give them credit for having a lovely looking outdoor seating area; the lights make it look welcoming. Our server was very distant from us, figuratively and literally. He came to our table to ask us what we’d like to drink, and then wandered away??? I ordered an Inca Cola, but he brought me a Coca Cola, then said they don’t carry Inca Cola. It’s sort of weird to not have Inca Cola in this type of establishment, but okay, I can understand the confusion. My husband ordered iced tea, and they didn’t have it. Who doesn’t have iced tea at a restaurant. I ordered pollo a la plancha. It wasn’t terrible, but the dish was unimpressive and reminded me of something I could make at home. I’ve had better dishes for $ 12. My husband ordered fajitas, and they brought him ONE tortilla for his platter. Our bill was over $ 30 for two entrees, coke, and a corona. If we wanted to walk another 15 min, we could’ve had much better food from Abi’s and for far less than what we paid here. The final straw was having someone soliciting outside of the seating area. A man approached my husband and I, muttering something incoherent. My husband asked him to repeat himself once or twice, and I said we didn’t have any cash, figuring maybe that’s what he was asking. Instead he got mad at me, saying he wanted a smoke not money. I’m sorry that you can’t speak up, and if you’re approaching me at a restaurant seating area, what else am I supposed to think you want? This whole time I was looking for an employee of the restaurant to see if they were noticing this, but no one was in sight. The confrontation with the gentlemen kept me irritated for the rest of the meal. If an employee had seen it, I’d hope they’d ask the person to leave and not want their guests bothered by that sort of thing, but no one was even around to witness it happen.
