Salads are amazing. Pastas are fresh and tasty. And the super hot, thin pizzas are full of flavor. The whole family loves it!

Good mid-level Americanized Italian food. Yummy pizzas good salads, great pastas, big portions. VERY kid friendly. Also great for take-out. Pizzas are thin-crust personal style, not the big NY style, so not the best for a family pizza night unless you order a few. We are frequent customers!

I haven’t had the pizza, but I had the pasta(meatballs and spaghetti). Best spaghetti I have ever eaten(if you think Macaroni Grill spaghetti is good)! Great value for your money. The pasta portion sizes are huge!

Best. Pizza. In. VA! Courteous staff, super fast, delicious, and reasonable prices. This little gem is in a strip mall of sorts, but it’s quite convenient to Virginia Hospital Center. It is very clean and has always had ample seating when I have visited for lunch, and the pizza is just perfect. Seriously. Thin, wood-fired crust with just the right amount of toppings for me.

Great for kids but pizza tends to be soggy, salads are tasteless with grocery store dressings and when staff makes mistakes mgmt doesnt provide customer svc to do «the right thing» just sorry we were wrong and customer has to accept it. Bottom line: Go there to keep your kids happy but dont go there expecting real italian food or high flavor food.

This is my go-to whenever I am in the neighborhood. The goat cheese arugula pizza is phenomenal. Everything is tasty and fresh. Service is very decent too.

The Arlington hype over this place is rather overrated, it’s average pizza. Occasionally I will have a good time here, but it’s because of the atmosphere, not the food or the service. I’ve had a few bad experiences here, but most were when they first opened, so they have gotten a lot better.

The food, prices and service are excellent! I love the 4 Cheese Pizza, the meat Lasagna is the best I have ever tasted at a restaurant and the salads are delicious. The portions are very generous.

Great pizza — nice toppings, delicious crust. I usually call and go and pick it up since I live close by. The pizza is always ready in 15 – 20 minutes and is waiting when I arrive. The restaurant is always pleasantly busy and filled with families. I have not eaten in the restaurant but it seems to have a nice atmosphere. Only drawback is that it can be hard to get parking in the strip mall — it is always PACKED due to several popular restaurants and the Harris Teeter. Recommend parking in the garage behind the Harris Teeter and then walking through the grocery store.

I’d been here once before and had a meh experience with the pizza — if you wanna go Neapolitan, go to Pupatella. Since pie-tanza is close by, I decided to give it another go and ordered the angel hair pasta with herb tomatoes. It was underwhelming, too oily and could have used more garlic. For pasta, I’ll stick with Ruffino’s down the street.

Very family friendly and great with the kids. The pizza is awesome and the pasta & sauces are great! The staff are so helpful and kind. We love to celebrate here or just come when we need a break from the dinner routine. It’s a neighborhood place – we always run into friends here!

solid neighborhood spot. ive been coming here steadily since they first opened for business at lee-harrison, and the quality of the food has been consistent over the years.(which is more than i can say for some of the other restaurants at lee-harrison…) service is always pretty friendly. so far, i havent had a meal i didnt like. still pining over some items that have been taken off the menu over time… notably the pie-tanza grilled cheese that was on the menu when they first opened.(please bring it back!) standout dishes: seared portobello sandwich, any of their calzones, mozzarella/tomato/basil sub, margherita pizza.

This is our solid go-to spot for local pizza. I actually prefer the crust and sauce to Pupatella(theirs seems flavorless), but maybe that’s just me! The four cheese is my favorite and a healthier runner-up would be the pear and arugula. The veggie lasagna is another favorite, but not as much as the pizza. Beware, there are usually a lot of children here, so if you’re looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, then this is probably not the spot, but it’s good for those nights when you want something in between delivery and a nicer sit down place. Also a good casual spot to meet friends or bring family without breaking the bank :-)

Had the sausage, onion and peppers pizza and it was everything i was hoping for. The crust was cooked perfectly. Thin and crispy yet soft and full of flavor once crunched into. The peppers and onions were fresh and nicely sauteed. The sausage was the KING of this pizza however. Perfect blend of spices and flavors truly made the whole pizza come together. The mozzarella and fontina cheeses were melted to all the toppings so it kept the toppings in place and made every bite delicious.

What a gem this place is; from the hospitality that I have endured to how great the food is. I had an order that was incorrect, not only did ED ensure that it was right this time, but he also gave me a free salad of my choosing, and when I did not know what to order, he gave me a mixture Of his favorite. Definitely recommend to everyone! Keep up the good job guys!

How I heard of this place: Looking for a quick bite and no hassel meal, Chris told me about a great, «wood-grilled» pizza place he had once tried, not far from his home. We decided to place an order for take-away and enjoy it, while relaxing at his house. Type of cuisine: «Pie-Tanza serves gourmet wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizza, fresh oversized salads, authentic Italian entrees, and hot & cold subs all made with the finest ingredients. pie-tanza also serves beer and wine. Don’t forget to leave room for our specialty desserts and espresso drinks.» Ambiance: While we decided to order our meal to go, we had to stop in to pick up our order, not more than 15 minutes after we called it in. Located in a strip mall, the quaint character of the establishment is unassuming. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the store-front seem tinted, with the blazing sun setting behind us. Walking into the space, the large setting is evident with table and chairs available for dine-in on either side of the entry-way. A young woman greets us at the podium, but we point to the To Go Orders counter at the back of the store. Walls are painted with murals of the Italian Countryside, a bikeparked next to an old Tuscan home, set along tall grass and dusty roads, as well as painted décor resembling stone, an Italian flag and Welcome signs. The paintings give the clutterless space a cozy and warm feel. At the back, the take-away counter is lit with neon lights and a cashier completes the transaction of payment for food. What I ordered: On this visit, we wanted to try something new and something typical. We started with the Spinach, Artichoke & Rosemary Chicken Calzone($ 11.69) with fresh spinach leaves, chopped artichoke hearts and shaved rosemary chicken with ricotta, mozzarella, fontina and sweet tomato purée. And ended with the 12″ specialty pie: Primo Pepperoni($ 11.89), a very thin base of pizza dough topped with mozzarella, fontina, parmesan and red sauce smothered with extra large sandwich style pepperoni and baked to wood-fire perfection. What I loved: I loved the pepperoni pizza and would easily entertain the thought of eating it again, and again. The large, slightly spicy pepperoni added great flavor to each bite! The hint of tomato sauce allowed for the flavors of cheese and pepperoni to truly make their way out and enrich each finger-licking, mouth watering bite. I loved that the chicken in the calzone was abundant and the cheese a secondary, giving way to the flavors of the fresh vegetables and light sauce. Why I loved it: The food was fabulous and surprisingly light for Italian food, the thin crust of the pizza grilled to crisp perfection with soft dough inside, the staff friendly and the wait time could not have been more doable! Cost: Average to high($ 10-$ 13 per 12″ specialty pizza)

When I’m looking for quick Italian food, this is the spot that I frequent. The meat lasagna and sweet tomato penne are pretty good. The meat lasagna is sweet, but not overly sweet. The sweet tomato cream penne is good for someone who is looking for a pasta dish with a creamy sauce. The restaurant doesn’t have an Alfredo chicken dish, so this is what I normally order. The antipasto salad is also a good choice with chopped up Italian meats, olives and banana peppers(yum!). The service is pretty decent. I have never had any major issues there. The restaurant has a rewards system that I would recommend if you frequent this spot. You have to download their App, which is called Cardagin. After accruing points, you can get rewards such as $ 5 off. When you pay for your meal, mention that you have the app. You will have to write your phone number down on your receipt so they can record your points. For this season, they have a gift certificate promotion. If you buy a $ 50 gift certificate then you get an extra $ 10 off your next meal. For those that frequent the restaurant, it might not be a bad idea to buy these for yourself. Just saying…

Stopped by for dinner on the way home from a very long day at work. Wasn’t planning to do much other than grab a quick bite. Started with what looked interesting — Gorgozola Stuffed Fried Green Olives. Well, these were already 5 of my favorite words in the English language — together there’s a synergy that can’t be described. I’ll try to boil it down to something simple: YUMMY! So your probably wondering why just 4 stars. First — I save my 5 Star Ratings for someplace that you really don’t want to miss. If you follow my reviews and see 5 stars then you should carry your ass down there and eat right away. Trust and believe — it’s something worthwhile. Back to pie-tanza. For my entrée I had the meatball sub with a Caesar Salad. The meatballs were tasty but over mixed and left without a real meaty texture. This is really a personal preference — I believe based on taste they’re homemade, but they have that texture /consistency of something store bought. It was nice to have plenty of cheese melted over the top. The Caesar was a side, but the lettuce wasn’t very crispy — like it had been mixed and left in the bowl for a while. The dressing — NICE — good flavor, lots of anchovy, classic, not one of those fake Caesar dressings like you get from the salad bar at the office cafeteria. Service is consistently good. I was late already and had an online course I had to finish for work that night. The server I had was understanding, checked in to make sure everything was ok, but clearly knew I was focused in the iPad and he didn’t bother me. I really appreciate when servers can identify when I want to chat and be more engaged and when I just want my food. Two visits, two different servers, two equally good experiences.

Pie-tanza is fine. I probably would not suggest it, as I think that there are better pizzerias, but it’s not bad for brick-oven pizza, and if someone really wants to go, you’ll be OK. My artichoke/eggplant pie had a nice char on the crust and it was fairly crisp, but it could have used more cheese, though there were plenty of veggies. Also, the eggplant was diced, which I was not prepared for. Take-out was quick and staff is friendly; prices are reasonable.

If I could have pizza every day, I would have pizza EVERYDAY! That’s how much I love pizza. OK — Moving on to my review of Pie-Tanza. Pie-Tanza, we can’t get enough of you. We absolutely love their pizzas and meatballs. If you haven’t tried their meatballs yet, do yourself a favor and order one meatball next time. It’s home-made and very, very good. Our last visit to Pie-Tanza, we ordered their Primo Pepperoni. This has to be my favorite pizza here because of the size of their Pepporoni’s. It is the perfect amount of food for two people with a salad to split at the beginning of your meal. We have also had their Sausage, Onion and Peppers pizza, which was also very delicious. My friend who is gluten-free says she loves their gluten-free options here as well, so plenty of options for everyone. Enjoy!
