Flavorful and aromatic food! I recommend the vegetarian wonton which contains tofu and vegetables wrapped in wonton skin. I also recommend the pan stir fried Chinese eggplant with tofu, scallion and fresh bamboo shoots. When the eggplant is served with steamed jasmine rice, the dish is perfect.

Huge portions for a low price — all very tasty food and indiscernible from meat dishes of similar Chinese food places. The Grasshopper Supreme is my favorite dish — the eggplant is soft and flavorful, and they give you huge portions of vegetables. Best for delivery, as the restaurant is a little bare.

Every time we go to Grasshopper it is amazing. Our favorites are No Name, Pepper Beef, Hot and Sour Soup, Won Ton Soup, and Grasshopper Supreme. However everything on the menu is amazing!!! This is the place!

Amazing Vegan food! Great prices! Sweet customer service! Other very friendly customers who chat with you like they know you. Can’t wait to go back again and again. The only problem was there is so many awesome food choices to choose from. I need to go back and try different ones! Love the Grasshopper!

Strange to think that the first time I went here was 10 years ago, I didn’t know what vegan food was and I was still using MySpace. 10 years later and I just happens to live in the neighborhood. This also ends up being my go to for Asian food, and I’m still not vegan. I love the fried wonton and the spring rolls are to die for. The no name is a classic and can fool any meat eater. The best part is that no animals are harmed in the process of making this delicious food.

Great Vietnamese Buddhist food. Lots of options too. Took my non vegetarian parents here and they also enjoyed everything we got. Eggplant, tofu and black bean sauce was DELISH! And the staff were all so friendly and kind. When I spoke the 3 words of Vietnamese I can remember from my time there, the people working were even kinder to me. Would definitely go back!

Had lunch special. Was delicious, big portion and cheap. What else can you ask for? If you are vegetarian or want to not eat meat, this is so good!

To begin, the menu descriptions did not match the plate. For example, the chicken fingers were tofu filled doughnuts(extremely sweet). Furthermore, every dish was greasy and overly fried. Vermicelli noodles(2 in our order) were not sufficiently sauced which led to lack of any flavor for the dishes. One had to go fishing for tofu in a dish; I would much prefer smaller portions of more worthwhile ingredients and flavor. And to top it off — as mentioned by other Unilocal reviewers — the food led to significant Gastrointestinal distress. I frequently visit vegetarian and vegan restaurants up and down the east coast and was sorely disappointed by my visit to this establishment.

I came here once years ago and thought it was amazing food across the board. Today, I ordered a spicy lemongrass beef plate that came with peppers and mushrooms. It was not spicy at all, but the flavors were all there and the beef was delicious(I wish there had been more!) The food came in less than 10 minutes, and complimentary tea and water, can it can any better than that?! Yes, yes it can. Since I like tofu I decided to try the deep fried tofu and I could not have been happier. The pastry was fluffy and thick, the tofu was cooked well, and the dish came with an apple flavored dipping that accentuated the deep fried tofu. My friend also ordered a fried rice dish and she really liked it. I wound up paying for the two dishes and one appetizer and the meal was less than $ 26, and we both had food to take back home. Will definitely be back here to check out their buffet the third Sunday of next month!

For a sit down place this was only okay, but as a vegan if I was local I would come here all the time for take-out. Everyone enjoyed their meal, but I was hoping for something that was really going to knock my pants off. It was only so-so…but again… if it was take-out chinese I would have been super excited about it. I got the No-Name and I found it to be overly sweet and a little overcooked. But I enjoyed my friends dishes that I tried. Next time I will not go with the« Unilocal standard» and try something new! Service was good, food came out fast. Atmosphere is kind of strange with a large, open, white room with pictures of chinese food on the wall(lol) Not very many people there on a Saturday night.(another hint) Would return again, but for takeout. :)

3 hungry vegetarians and 1 vegan enter Grasshopper early Saturday afternoon. Parking right out front(lucky:) and a booth was open(lucky again:)). My first time the others in my party have raved about their meals here. They helped order and recommended things for me. But everything we got was OUT-OF-THIS-WORLDDELICIOUS!!! I live north of Boston and wish we had a restaurant in this area that came close to Grasshopper in terms of vegetarian/vegan meals! And the staff was super friendly!

I had passed by this restaurant almost everyday via bus 66 but was never brave enough to try it out — didn’t know what to expect from a vegan Chinese restaurant. Vegan! That meant no soup dumplings or general tso’s or kung pao beef! A vegan friend suggested eating dinner here and we tried the No Name, the Spicy Steak Filet, and the House Special Nest. Like most reviews say, the No Name tastes like general tso’s/sesame chicken! Other dishes were pretty good too. I would prefer eating at JoJo Taipei any time, but these vegan dishes weren’t so bad. But I did wish that the vegetables in SSF were better cut into edible pieces. I decided to bump my rating to 4 stars from 3/3.5 though, because my stomach felt OK afterwards. Normally I get a heartburn when I eat greasy Chinese food on an empty stomach but I didn’t after eating here!

Decided to check the place out on their 3rd Sunday buffet. For the folks that don’t know… the restaurant hosts an all day buffet on every 3rd Sunday of each month for less than $ 12. This is a great introduction to their popular items without breaking the piggy bank. We arrived around noon and the restaurant was practically full… though they weren’t fully set up yet. All the tables are grouped together like a communal setting. People were just waiting around for them to bring out the dishes. It’s rather interesting… almost like a clear understanding among the regulars that this was the norm. When majority of the food are brought out, people start lining up. They do offer a decent amount of selection — their famous no name crispy meat dish(equivalent to sweet and sour chicken or pork), fried spring rolls, hot and sour soup, beef and broccoli, salad, stir fry veggies and couple different noodle dishes. Definitely enjoyed the vegetarian meal and will be back in the future.

Everything we ordered was delicious and affordable. Tofu hot pot with lemongrass and pineapple, snow peas with mushroom and carrots, fried vegetable rolls, nori rolls which was sushi style. Plenty of tables on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Everything was great and they start you off with hot tea which. Reminds me of growing up in Little Saigon in California where that was pretty much expected everywhere you went. But since moving to the Northeast, this is the first place I ran into that did that. Very friendly service as well and they allowed us to park in the back in the one spot right behind the restaurant. I am not sure if customers normally can park there, but it was later in the evening so if this is employee parking, perhaps they knew they had an open space and just let us park there when I called to ask if customers are allowed in the lot. So you still may want to call before you get there. I wouldn’t assume this is a normal thing.

I’ve been coming to Grasshopper for 12 years and in that time it has stood up as my favorite vegetarian restaurant in Boston. The prices are super reasonable and the menu has a huge variety of options – there is still a ton of stuff I’ve yet to try. Service is always quick and portions are generous. My favorite is the once a month BUFFET. I go every time and always look forward to the next one. If you’ve never eaten at Grasshopper before I suggest trying the buffet first as it has a good mix of items.

A VEGANCHINESERESTAURANT. Sounds crazy but tastes so right. Tried their infamous«no-name» dish which is basically a non-meat sesame chicken and very yummy. It’s crazy how it’s not meat and it’s so good. Their coconut rice noodles came with assorted veggies and imitation shrimp. Looked just like shrimp BUTWASN’T. Our waitress was attentive and no problems. Only downfall was how HOT the place was. There was probably only a fan when it was about 90 degrees out.

This is a vegan restaurant. So it’s ok to invite your hipster vegan friends here. In fact, you can probably share all of your dishes, something that they haven’t been able to do at a normal Chinese restaurant because there’s pork in everything. The food? Not bad. But not good either. Some of the stuff was really starchy. I would say it borders on Chinese food, but is accessible to the American palette. But the black bean sauce had good flavor, and vegetarians in the party were able to eat without worrying about accidentally eating pork. That’s something to be said.
