Big Al’s

Most restaurants in the US can’t make Burgers like this. The nachos are fantastic. The burgers are fantastic. I’ve been here 3 times already this trip. The staff is great and engaging and make it easy to feel at home. Try the «three way» burger. Best in Barcelona.

Dios existe y por eso prohibió el pulled pork en la mayoría de religiones, es la tentación, la oda al pecado, es La Hamburguesa.

Best day ever! Hoy en Big Al’s he sido muy feliz no, lo siguiente! Hubiese entrado en la cocina y abrazado al cocinero mientras le daba las gracias!
Una vez entras te encuentras un local pequeñito y en seguida se te van los ojos al muro de la fama. Si consigues el reto de comerte una mega hamburguesa con tropecientas patatas en menos de 30 minutos, ahí que te vas! En seguida piensas, algún día, algún día mientras te tocas la barbilla al estilo Homer Simpson. Un simple detalle, pero estaría bien que a los que lo cumplen les regalasen una camiseta al estilo crónicas carnívoras, en plan yo sobreviví al reto del Big Al’s! :)
Una vez te traen la carta y empiezas a ver las hamburguesas te das cuenta que cada una es más «americana», hipercalorica y novia del colesterol que la anterior así que asume lo que va a suceder a continuación con todo el orgullo y dignidad posible! Hay varios tamaños, pequeño y grande, el pequeño ya es hermoso así que imagino que el grande debe ser para alimentar a un regimiento de expedición por el Himalaya.
A nosotros nos tocó un camarero joven y con gafas que era majisimo (si alguna vez lees esto, eres un crack!) y nos recomendó la three way (pollo, hamburguesa de ternera con queso y BBQ pulled pork), solo por eso te queremos! Nos pedimos esa y otra más para compartir entre dos, la otra estaba buena, pero la three way, OMG!!!
Definitivamente déjate recomendar por los sabios camareros!!!

Servicio excelente, atento y con humor. Sus hamburguesas con pan de brioche crujiente las hacen irresistiblemente buenas y al complementarlas con las curly chips queda un plato delicioso! Aunque ha sido un fallo que un martes no tuvieran ningun refresco de importación de los que presentan en la carta tipo Fanta grape o Dr Pepper, pero por todo lo demás ha sido fantastico, 100% recomendable.
Recomendación: BBQ siempre es acierto seguro

Ich hatte den 400gr. Jalapeño — Burger und muss sagen: Wow! Sehr frisch, alle Zutaten hausgemacht, super Geschmack.
Riesenportionen, die man auch als großer Mann erstmal niederkämpfen muss. Selbstgemachtes Sriracha-​Ketchup zu den Curly Fries ist auch ein Genuss. Mein Ober sprach sogar noch einwandfreies Deutsch. Das ist sicher kein Kriterium um reinzugehen, aber eine nette Abwechslung. Wer den Widowmaker (1,3kg) bezwingt, kommt an die Wall of Fame. Den Rekord hier hält… Ein Deutscher, der wohl nur knapp 8 Minuten für dieses Biest gebraucht hat.
Es geht hier aber keinesfalls um Kampfessen, aber es wird keinen geben, der hier nicht satt würde.
Fazit: Super hausgemachte Burger und nettes Personal!

Great place with big, American style/​sized burgers. Even small ones come with 2 beef patties. Small selection of their own micro-​brewery beers. The staff are friendly and fun. The desserts change on a regular basis. If you have some big eaters in your group, this is the place to go. The even have a winners wall for those who finish the biggest of the burgers!
We were fans of the one in Sitges and were excited when we found out one was opening in Barcelona.

Hamburguesas con pan que tiene apariencia de seta gigante y torrado, hamburguesas de gran calidad y de dos tamaños pequeño (mediano) y grande (doble). También hay una hamburguesa especial, que es el reto que si te la terminas en menos de media hora cuelgan tu foto en el muro de la fama.
Los precios oscilan entre los 9 y 14 €. Cervezas artesanales más una gran hamburguesa que más se puede pedir.

We came to Big Al’s because it was an American place in the midst of mediocre Spanish food. As it turns out, we ate mostly Mexican food at Al’s and it was some of the best damn Mexican food I’ve ever had. (And I’m from Socal, so that should tell you something.)
The nachos were unbelievable — the meat very tender. (See the pic.) Then we shared the quesadilla which was perfectly grilled and the cheese was of utmost quality.
Lastly, we shared a burger. It was a bit on the dry side and left something to be desired, but it might have something to do with the fact that we asked for medium well. (I’d be willing to give the burger dept. another shot.)
Oh and the staff was awesome and super friendly. This location is pretty new, so we had some good, personalized attention. If you walk by and don’t see anyone there yet, it’s likely because no one knows about them. Don’t take the current lack of patrons as a bad sign.
All in all, I actually wish we had Big Al’s in Socal. Apparently Al is from Seattle, so one can only dream he’ll trace his steps back to the U.S. and try his cuisine hand there.

This was not my first Al’s experience, I’ve been to one of the locations in Sitges. Everything is awesome, my favorites are the pulled pork nachos and the cajun chicken salad (it really satisfied my craving for American style big salads!). The service is friendly and attentive. The best part is everything is homemade, the chips, the hamburger patties and even the buns! The desserts are not always same each visit which is nice. I love this place, it satisfies my craving when I miss home.
