It has RAMEN! So good. Place us very authentic. Just put it this way, we were the only non Asians in the place. Very Very good food! the sushi was fresh and tasty. I had the spicy roll and u also had the Spicy Miso Ramen. It was so hot and good! The broth was a good base and noodles were good as well. We went on Saturday for lunch.

Best sushi in the city: traditional dishes, ingredients that are tough to find elsewhere in Winnipeg, always fresh, great specials(for example, Wagyu beef that you cook yourself on a hot stone), many GF options and alterations available.

Went to Yujiro for lunch today, and as usual, their food never disappoints. This is probably my favourite Japanese restaurant in the city. I was the first customer of the day, and was greeted by the waiter/waitress. I took my usual seat by the window. The waiter informed me of their special of the day. I ended up ordering the miso ramen($ 11, which has gone up from $ 10), a favourite of mine. I’ve also had their seafood ramen in the past, which was also quite good(photo can be found in the photo section here). The miso ramen comes with a sheet of nori, bamboo shoots, wakame, half of a marinated egg, sliced pork(which was super tender) and scallion. It also came with a side vegetable salad, which I had forgotten it came with. If I had known, I’d probably wouldn’t have ordered the yakitori($ 6), because I was super full by the time it arrived at my table. The yakitori was so juicy and tender, so it was well worth over-stuffing myself. I had the yakitori with teriyaki sauce, but you also have the option of having it with simply salt and pepper. I should also note that they only offer ramen during lunch hours, so come for lunch if you want some ramen. Aside from miso, they also have spicy miso, seafood, and chicken karaage ramen. However, they only have miso ramen on their menu, so just ask the server whether they have the other kinds available.

My daughter and I were taken such good care of by the staff who took the time to walk us through all the offerings and answer our questions. They made us feel SO welcome and comfortable. We sampled things we’d never had before, tried drinks we’d never heard of before and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Such a great little space that we will definitely return to.

The sushi here was very good and both me and my friend loved it! Our waitress was very friendly and explained all the things on the menu we didnt know. The food also arrived very quickly, and it was quite busy! Would highly recommend.

My girlfriend and I found this place on Unilocal on our first night in Winnipeg. It was on the way to IKEA so we figured to try it out being outside of downtown. Luckily our hotel had free local calls so we could make reservations. This restaurant was serious about reservations so we just made plans for 2 at 5:20PM at the bar. It turned out that we asked about a table for 2 since it looked like tables were available. The waitress made a point that we understood that we had only an hour. So, we quickly ordered but ended up waiting for 20 minutes for our food. We got the dinner bento special which included appetizer(chef’s choice) and ice cream. I got the BBQ mackeral bento box and my girlfriend got the tempura bento box. We sampled each other’s boxes but she ended up liking my BBQ mackeral. For the appetizer, the salmon fried skin was especially good with some bits of meat on the end. Plus, the ice cream was a special surprise when I couldn’t get red bean. Instead, I opted for the black sesame which is now my favorite since red bean ice cream seems to be everywhere. My girlfriend got green tea was fine but I much prefer my black sesame. The price for both of us was very reasonable and the restaurant took my debit card which was extra sweet. It’s tough to plan and bring Canadian currency for just a long weekend.

The food was excellent, well proportioned for the price. I’m vegetarian and the options were quite sufficient. Nice atmosphere as well for a quiet meal, romantic or otherwise. I would definitely come back!

Moved to Winnipeg almost three months ago. Most often the sushi places here have extremely small portions, what a disappointment — hint hint to the sushi restaurants at Corydon. This sushi restaurant was amazing, the best in Winnipeg! The waitresses were extremely nice and helpful, since my husband is not a fan of sushi. He loved his a la carte teriyaki beef and rice. I loved my deluxe special. Would definitely go back!

It’s was delicious, but expensive and not much on your plate. I will absolutely go back because the sushi is higher quality then many places in the city and the cooks still roll the rice by hand.(You’d be surprised how many feed the rice through a machine that does it for them). It is a very busy place so make sure to make reservations or go early. They have the best Ginger and Green Tea icecream i’ve had in years! P. S Don’t go if your starving

Overall, the sushi and food here are high quality. They have an extensive menu that will make revisiting this place a must. We did not know how busy or booked this place gets. The waitress was pensive on seating us(walk-ins) at around 17:30, as they were booked up at 19:00. In addition, we have 3 young kids, and although this place says good for kids, they may mean kids 5 and up. Being that said, it’s good location lends itself as perfect for carry out, which I witnessed firsthand as so many carry out orders diverted our servers’ attention away.

LOVE this place and I try A LOT of sushi places. The décor is pretty typical, but the food is awesome. Everything is really fresh, well prepared and delicious. The price is a good value for what you get. Everytime I have gone to this place it’s been packed. As much as I really like this place Wasabi on Taylor will still remain my favorite just because they have a few rolls that no where else offers, but it is more expensive. I really appreciate a sushi restaurant that doesn’t purposely double wrap the rolls in rice to make it look like you are getting more when you really aren’t. Yujiro makes the rolls small and bite sized which is great. It’s a weird location for most as it is in River Heights and not a more popular or trendy area. If you have to travel to get to it Yujiro is worth the trip!

Great sushi place. Food is great, service is good. I always get the tuna salad roll and the sunomono salad. Delish!

For a city that is suffering from one tooo many sushi places this has been one of my favorites for a long time. When they moved quite a while ago from their much smaller location on academy to here I was worried they would«lose there way» If last night’s snack was an example they are still among the best in the city. We dropped by for a quick bite on the way through and we sampled an appetizer and three other rolls, they were all fresh, well presented, and very good tasting. I keep to what I have said before this is one of the top three in the city, and worth the trip.

The Skinny: great sushi with awesome unique truly Japanese specials(4.5) service is solid(4) value — for what you get, it’s really reasonable(4.5). This is by far and away the best Japanese traditional restaurant in town. Period. It’s also a favourite neighbourhood haunt for most people so make reservations as they can be booked up quite quickly. Their fish is extraordinarily fresh and well priced. Their sushi is well made too — not too firm, not too soft so that the rolls fall apart. They have a great selection of a la carte menu items of which I am a fan. Namely 1) the daikon salad, 2) Japanese yam tempura, 3) amaebi with the fried heads(oh yeah!), 4) the uni is divine! If you are a fan of Japanese desserts, try their fresh mochi with red bean and ice cream(when they have it) — you won’t regret it. Specials are quite traditional yet change all the time reflecting what is available and in season. Finally, they have great lunch specials — that’s right, dudes — they are open for lunch and their bentos are a great deal.

This is my favourite sushi spot in town. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s not overpriced like a more well-known local chain. The service is always great, too.

In my opinion this is by far the best Sushi restaurant in town. I’ve been going to Yujiro for years and never had less than perfect experience. Ingredients are always fresh and of the highest quality while prices are very reasonable. If you prefer giant rolls with tons of rice on them or all-you-can-eat sushi, don’t bother coming. This is sushi done right, byte sized pieces, wonderful presentation, always the best and freshest ingredients. They do have daily specials, combination(bento) specials and a lower priced lunch time menu, though. If you want to sample of variety of items without breaking the bank, I highly recommend trying one of the bento/package specials, like Yujiro special. You get a miso soup, bowl of rice, 8 – 10 small pieces of sashimi, two rolls(California is heavenly here), side salad or an appetizer and a desert, all for less than $ 18. Daily specials are great for discovering something new, there you’ll find less common, but pretty amazing dishes. The place is not huge, but very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well suited for a romantic dinner. I can see it working for bigger groups of 8 – 12 people as well. There’s also a sushi bar, where you can enjoy your food after you watch chef prepare it right in front of you. The owner and chef, Masa, is one of the very few real Japanese chefs from Japan that operate in Winnipeg. Also, one of the longest in business. This is not a run of the mill, Korean owned«Japanese» restaurants that seem to have spread through the city in the recent years. This is one of the very few authentic Japanese sushi restaurants, you won’t find metal chopsticks here.

The best Japanese food I’ve had in Winnipeg! Really great sushi. The presentation was beautiful, the service was awesome… nothing but good things to say! This will be my go-to sushi place for sure.
