Cozy old school diner in the middle of the neighbourhood. Gotta love places like these. Parking is available along Victoria outside rush hour. The place looks like it was frozen in the 1970s, with the faux wood panelling. Nice comfortable booths. The breakfast is a bit pricier at $ 5.75, but it comes with everything one would expect. The toast could be a bit more toasted, but the food isn’t drenched in grease like Denny’s. No frills. Just good comfort food.

The quality has dropped with the new owners although the waitress is very nice and quick with the coffee pot for refills. I feel like I am having breakfast in Kamloops… small mom + pop place, with 1970’s décor. The breakfast is a deal, but again, the quality is not great. A good place to get a bite, read the paper and have many refills of coffee before heading off to the nearby Value Village.

Unexpected great food for a family-owned diner. Can’t beat a $ 5.75 breakfast with all the fixin’s. Great service all around and will definitely be back! Recommendations: coffee, breakfast special, and their soup!

This place hearkens back to a simpler time when Canadian Chinese restaurants dominated the landscape and judging by the faded décor, it desperately holds on to that period. Although the server is friendly enough, the food was really whatever. Had the corned beef hash and boy it was G-R-EASY to the point that everything was just soft and mushy. I can appreciate a small family owned business trying to make ends meet, but nothing about this place draws me in enough for a return visit.

I and my friends used to be regulars but not since the business changed owners. Now smaller portions, higher prices and generally lower quality. Service remains good but that does not compensate. Look elsewhere, diners have a lot of choices in this area.

My friend and I are regulars here after an early morning back 9 golf outing at either Langara or Fraserview. It looks like a diner straight out of the 60’s(or what I imagine the 60’s to be like, namely a ton of brown everywhere), featuring easy breakfast staples(french toast, bacon/sausages with hash-browns and eggs, omelettes). The breakfast special(2 eggs, 3 sausages, hashbrowns, 2 slices of buttered toast) is only $ 5.75, the lunch special(deluxe burger and fries /hash-browns) may be a dollar more. We take the day’s Province newspaper(multiple copies and going back a few days by the way) and take a read through while waiting for our order. The only thing that takes the place out of the 60’s is the fact that you will be greeted by an old asian lady, and if you look carefully enough you will see just enough asian-esque furnishings to identify this establishment as a place owned(perhaps recently) by asians. No matter the food is decent. Conveniently, the default setting for a +1 is separate bills written out on old school pad paper. The best seat, or at least the one I covet is the one right by the window for people watching whilst taking a sip of coffee. Enjoy!

Cheap, quiet, laid back, Corned beef hash. These are the ingredients to make the perfect little gir. wait, no. These are the ingredients for a quick stop for breakfast from a hangover or a filling brunch if you want to spend under 10 dollars. It’s a quaint little spot that will grow on you. The corned beef hash is what I have eaten almost every single time. I have ventured to french toast(mediocre) burgers(pretty good) but nothing will top the corned beef hash. The seating is comfortable, the atmosphere very enjoyable. It’s quiet and laid back even if packed, and you’ll never feel any pressure to leave. The staff is humble and helpful, and the old cooks are so endearing! If you’re in the neighbourhood, check it out!(and get the corned beef hash, trust me)

This place needs more attention! If you like classic greasy spoon diners, then you should come here. The Victoria is actually a pretty pleasant, tidy little space, which is kind of surprising — usually these kinds of restaurants are a little worn and tattered(think the Master Chef — no diss! — I love that place, too!) but this spot has nice booths and non-stained menus. One good sign that this is a quality joint is the amount of locals and people who work in the area who pour in when it’s lunchtime. And I keep coming back for the cheap burger special — it’s a classic«Western/Chinese food» kind of burger. Nice, simple, classic, not to be confused with the«haute cuisine» Victoria Restaurant on Melville …

Vancouver seems to have a lovely assortment of hole-in-the-wall, inexpensive dinners — cheap and tasty food, and a unique and colourful assortment staff and patron that really reflects the lovely diversity of people in this fair city. This one is no exception; breakfast and lunch on the menu here and there’s sure to be something you’ll find interesting. Corned beef hash with two eggs. I’d wished I’d been the one to order it then, and I wish I had one right now. Sandwiches, Chinese dishes, burgers and fries. An interesting rendition of Eggs Benedict that could only be described as «someones version of the dish based on a picture they saw»… The woman who owns it who sits silently pouring over the paper until *poof* she’s at your elbow bringing your food or refueling your coffee. The dapper elderly gent who came in for a brunch one Sunday. A lovely suit with pink accent and all of the festoonery to match. Pink dress hat, pink shoes, pink belt, pink suspenders, pink handkerchief, pink tie, pink socks… I fell in love. Once I hijacked my honey’s order because he always seems to order what I want(see corned beef hash comment above). He’d wanted steak and eggs so I order: «Two Steak and Eggs please». Well she mis-heard me and brought us two bacon and eggs. It was perfect. Low cost, decent food, great people watching and atmosphere.
