Been meaning to check this place out for awhile since it’s really close to our house, we finally did and the food was great and good prices! I had the beef phở and the broth was so delicious, probably one of the best! The spring rolls were also very good. The service was lacking a bit but it was also busy. Will definitely be back!

Terrible customer service! While waiting for food, the staff started to have lunch and they kept ignoring me and starved child for 20 minutes. When our food was coming, nobody tried to bring it to us. When I let them know, the staff were annoyed me and very rude to me. I love their Richmond branch, they were all nice and respectful. But Victoria Drive and Broadway one were both of horrible. Somebody wrote about them in Unilocal before, I agree with her, they are rasist. They look down at oriental people except who speaks same language with them. In addition, their cutlaries and bathroom were so Dirty. Absolutely NO to this restaurant. I won’t recommend this place to anybody. I will never come back again.

I bought a standard Vietnamese rare beef soup. This was the worst soup I had in years with absolutely no flavor. I mentioned this to the server and she responded that«we sell a lot anyhow»!

Stopped in to try the rare beef phở. The broth was quite tasteless. I tried everything to bring up the flavor, adding hoisin and chili sauce, though it had literally no saltiness or sweetness that a basic beef broth would have. It was as if I had a bowl of noodles, beef and water. I got only half through and gave up. It was a waste of space in my stomach. I commented before paying about the lack of flavor only to have the woman at the counter give a dismissive laugh and have her comment that they sell a lot of it. So maybe they were running low before I arrived and watered it down? Makes me wonder. I won’t be back or recommend.

Stopped in to try this out as friends said it was good. Had a Large Phở soup. Was quite fresh. Fair amount of stuff in this soup. But nothing to blow you away with. Waitress seemed more interested in holding a conversation with the table next to us instead of taking our order.

Can you believe we got 8 guys to go golfing on Christmas Day? Anyways after a cold round of golf at Fraserview golf course we were looking for a hot meal. We ended up meeting at Phở Thai Son on Fraser street. I had the large special beef soup(number 13) and a Vietnamese ice coffee. It was nice to have a hot soup/noodle dish on a cold Christmas Day. Everything was good. Just the beef slices were a bit on the fatty side. After tearing some of the excess fat off the meat it’s perfectly edible. There are a ton of Vietnamese restaurants around Phở Thai Son isn’t half bad. I would place it on the ok side.

My mom and i decided to try this restaurant as we were close by. Like many Vietnamese restaurants, the price is reasonable and the food is fresh! I was a little sad there was no wifi, but overall it was a great experience. The staff was so friendly that we will consider going back again sometime.

I’ve visited their other location on SW Marine Drive and have constantly been impressed with their service and food so I had high expectations for this location. Thankfully I was not disappointed! The food came quickly, filled me up for a reasonable price, and tea was constantly refilled. Cannot think of any negatives!

Above average phở here! I either order their beef tendon + brisket phở. The soup base is tasty, not too salty and just right. Their lemon grass chicken on rice is the real winner though. It’s so perfect and better than other phở restaurants! You’ll be able to find a seat at any time of the day too. Give it a try!

Just an average tasting Phở. My rare beef phở was okay but soup was rather greasy. Everything else was alright. I asked the server for uncooked bean sprouts and said they only got cooked ones. Oh wells. Anyways they offer 20% off every tuesdays.(Correction: 10% not 20, sorry)

I was here when this location opened, it was awful I would have given it one star back then if I was doing Unilocal review. Now after few months since opening, the service and quality have been improving so 4 stars will come back again.

The staff here is just as great at the Richmond location. The superstar waitress will speak Chinese /Vietnamese to please whichever customers come in. Impressive, considering she handles the English speaking ones too. I’ve eaten here more than twice since this location opened. They are relatively pretty clean and quick when serving you. I was amazed at the rainbow drink with coconut milk here last time I ate here cause I wasn’t expecting more than 3 different beans. I love their Phở. And I always enjoy the vermicelli dish with spring rolls here ~ they always serve the right amount of fish sauce for that dish.

Thought I was gonna get phở. TIll I walked in and the pork chop, shredded pork, and egg over rice enticed me otherwise. My cousin got the Bun. Vietnamese iced coffee was on point. Probably some of the better viet food I’ve had.

This place is ok… I tried seafood and beef noodle soup. Seafood noodle soup had a lot of fake crab meat which I am not a fan of but had good sized shrimp and squid bits. Still, nothing to write home about. The spring roll was ok — bit greasy but packed lot of mear inside. I also tried their cocont milk mixed with ice green and red jello with sweet red beans — it was ok. Service was good, we found parking ok and place was ok clean. I think you get my point — it is an ok phở place. I prefer Lemon grass on Kingsway but if you live nearby and want a quick beef noodle, go right ahead.

We love the Thai Son at 1st and Renfrew, but this one is a little closer so tried it out a couple of times. The rice dishes are my favourite! No. 45 to be exact lol. But I don’t recommend the salad roll… It was just stuffed win noodles and dry pork meat. I prefer cha and shrimp in my salad roll, and the sauce was a bit bland as well… The only thing I ever get at this place is no.45 so… Can’t really say much else about the phở… I wish I could give .5 starts cause it’s really only 3.5 starts since the only thing I ever want to eat here is the one rice dish lol

Look! Another Thai Son location! *happy dance* As with their other locations, the BBH was not mind blowing, but the Grilled Lemongrass Chicken on Broken Rice is always good. I’m not usually around this area but it’s good to know I have solid food options if I ever find myself hungry over there! Solid 3.5 stars

Came here for some Vietnamese dinner goodness, after noticing that this place has replaced the Church’s Chicken. Parking is available in the strip mall parking lot, as well as on Victoria outside. The interior is mostly brand new, but you can still tell that the place used to be a fried chicken joint. The chicken-themed bathroom signs come to mind. Service is half-decent, but nothing special. Not sure about the hygiene at this location — one of the staff members would serve us while he was mopping the floor. Not sure if he washed his hands each time, but I’m suspecting he didn’t. Of course, one could argue that this place is authentic Vietnamese as a result.(I’ve been there) Spring rolls — surprisingly mediocre. The filling was okay, but the outside looked like something you’d get out of a dim sum restaurant. Even with the fish sauce they tasted pretty bland. Hot and sour soup — quite decent. Nice large chunks of vegetables, and that trademark tang. Carmelized fish — pretty salty, but this is the way they roll. The fish has a lot of bones, so don’t eat too quickly. Even though I thought the dish was okay, my friends described the meat as «sandy». Something to keep in mind. Strangely enough, and maybe it’s just in my head, but this location simply isn’t as good as the original(E.12th) Marine Drive, or Richmond locations.

I’ve been 4 times pretty much since it opened a couple of months ago. I keep going back because of their delicious broth and noodles(not soggy). The grand opening discount of 15% off was attractive too. The place is clean because it’s still new. It kind of ends there, hence, the 2 stars. Although new, I find it rather crowded, it was really hard when you have a table more than 6 people. The worst part was the customer service is a complete turn-off. I went 4 times, all 4 times I asked for water from this petite Vietnamese lady(with a pony tail and heavy make-up). All 4 times she would say OK then took off to do something else, we asked again, AND again, then she would finally get us water. I had a strong feeling she was deliberately ignoring us as I caught her taking peeks at us after we asked for water, we stared at her, she would look away quickly — not letting us make eye contact or request for anything. I literally had to hunt her down in order to get anything. I’m so annoyed! If she could be that consistently rude every single time I went, I can’t imagine what she does to my food before bringing them to me! I get this strong vibe she hates her job. This place tastes good, but there are way more good phở places in lower mainland with better service, I don’t need to go there to get pissed off just for some noodles. End of story. Not going back. Still pissed at that lady.

Thai Son has always been one of the most consistent Vietnamese restaurants I enjoy going to. The only down side before was that each location had been so darn far away, but those worries are no longer an issue! With a location opening up on Victoria now, it provides a phở place needed in that area. I would’ve liked it if it was open later or maybe 24⁄7 but then again that’s just me. I ordered the grilled short ribs with steamed vermicelli. Which is not phở(duh) but a favourite nonetheless! Afterwards I did finish off my friend’s small phở which the beef flank was a tad tough for my liking… then again they did just open so maybe they are still working out the kinks. It is nice to see that they have most of their regular staff from the original Broadway location here, so at least the transition for regulars is seamless. Also just wanted to mention that they currently have a grand opening promotion of 15% off for the time being, so get on that!
