I bought a groupon and came for 2 massages, two massagists were the worst. Also, the first guy made me feel uncomfortable while massaging. WORSTEXPERIENCEANDMASSAGEEVER :(

Worst massage I ever had, the body massage, left me with a lot of neck and back pain. This was a very unusual deep tissue massage, I will never go back to this place

Technically this place is 3.5 but since I can’t do half ratings, it’s down to 3. The place is clean and minimally decorated. We found out about this place through helpful Groupon and purchased the deal as advertised for a 60 minute deep tissue massage. The massages were pretty good but the reason why I’m bumping down the stars is due to the following: 1. My bf and I were in rooms next to each other and the therapists were talking to each other across the wall(walls do not go all the way up, they have a feet of space). What the heck? 2. They didn’t have a front desk person so when the phone rang, one of them left the room to pick it up… in the middle of the massage. This was not too bothersome for us, we get it, small business but just pointing it out so other people are aware this could happen. 3. While the massage technique itself was great, they primarily focused on our back and shoulders. It wasn’t the whole body experience we were hoping for. Our legs and feet were in need of attention after two days of hiking. Unfortunately, they didn’t get the tender loving care they needed… it was literally 2 rubs and a fist bump to my arch. Sad sad feet. 4. Massage oil was not wiped off afterwards. Maybe things are done differently here but at other places they do a light wipe to get rid of excess oil before we change back into our clothes. 5. They charged us tax??? This seemed really weird to us as we’ve never had to pay tax separately when using a groupon in the states for similar services. Not sure if it’s done differently in Canada. But nonetheless, that seemed off putting especially when no where in the terms of the groupon did it say tax would be paid separately. And it was calculated with a calculator… not the register. Hmmmm…

Normally, I’m quite spoiled by going to RMT’s, and getting 80−90% reimbursed by extended health, so I don’t go anywhere else. However, my feet deserve some pampering action, and I’m embarrassed to ask my RMT’s to touch my feet. Kungfu and their vouchers swooped in and saved my feet(after two weeks of travelling in Europe), and they felt like new baby feet after! Christine was super friendly, and also kinda looked like my mom, so I felt a little bad that she was doing such a fantastic job giving me a foot massage(though not too badly). She was super professional and made it as if making my feet feel better was her life’s mission for the next hour. Plus, she thought I had some lactic acid buildup in my legs from running, so she even massaged my legs, plus my back! I gave her a 30% tip after, and she totally deserved it!

I came in after I was disappointed with my go-to place. I saw the promo on Unilocal and the owner said I could just pay for it when I arrived. Even after trying to explain what the deal was several times($ 59 for $ 89 worth of services), I settled for the $ 59 for $ 79-massage. The ladies were really friendly and I liked the one who worked on me. It just just too much to fit into 60 mins. I never had a chance to relax. And yes, turns out I can tolerate a high level of pain(the owner was wondering if I should go for the relaxation massage instead of the deep tissue massage). I didn’t have my credit card with me so opted to pay in cash. The girl at the counter(who had arrived while I was getting worked on) DIDNOT have any change and suggested that I leave a tip. Was she expecting me to leave a $ 20 tip because she didn’t have change?! What business clears out all the cash at mid-day? I will try the other services before committing to a package of 10.

Probably the best foot reflexology massage I’ve ever had. I’m here visiting from Los Angeles, and we have a ton of foot massage places. However, it seems that most of the places I’ve been to follow the same routine. Here at Gungfu, I felt my specific needs were attended to, and I received a custom tailored reflexology massage. I work on my feet 15 hours a day as a pastry chef. I wear kitchen clogs and high performance anti embolism stockings to prevent spider veins and pinched nerves. I try to take care of myself, and reflexology, in addition to thai massage for full body is part of my regimen. Years of work have left me with hard, inverted corns and calluses on my feet, and despite the self care, I will probably have these until the day I die(if you work on your feet, you understand what I mean). I chose the 90 min reflexology(VACATION!!!). I think the masseur’s name was Warren(?). He started with a foot soak then my back and shoulders(which are pretty messed up also) and really got into my trapezius muscles, shoulder blades and forearms. He also did some nice arm/neck/back stretching. After this, I was seated in the chair and then each foot and leg was massaged. He really paid attention to the physiology, massaging not just the foot, but the calf and shin muscles, the ankles and heels, and did some nice acupressure on the toes and soles of the feet. This is where I felt that I was really being taken care of because each foot is different. The massage for my left foot was completely different from my right. He finished the massage with some nice punches all over the legs(haha!) and I had a cup of hot tea afterwards. I spoke to who I think was the owner(attractive Asian man) and he told me they’ve only been open for a week(lucky me!). I purchased a gift certificate for my chef friend that I’m staying with(she deserves it!) and they also gave me a stamp card and coupon for $ 10 off my next visit. Maybe I will go again before I leave! Because they are so new, I would recommend making an appointment as they may have only one or two masseuses. Also, I felt the masseur was highly skilled so I would recommend tipping well for the services. He was working hard, and I always feel it best to appreciate and recognize when someone does a good job. If you need some taking care of, come here. This is just what I needed to start off my vacation. Thank you, Gungfu!

This place just opened near my house, so I decided to give it a try. Omg you get more than what you paid for. The environment is nice quiet and super clean; it’s better than a typical Chinese massage place. I’ll definitely come back!
