Ordered delivery from here for the first time. Were told they did not have a website so we just talked our way a bit through the menu with the person answering the phone, and placed our order. We asked that they send a take-out menu along so that we would have more information the next time around. Delivery man came, and he was very friendly. He didn’t have a menu to leave us, but then advised that they did have a website, which he wrote down for us. It is basic, with just the menu items, but that’s what we were looking for. The pizza and baked lasagna were… ok. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with them either. I’ll admit a tad uninspiring, but acceptable.

We’ve been ordering from Georges for over 10 years and through various owners. The current owners are very focused on being helpful so the service is good. They often have students working there so some may be better than others but the manager is obviously committed to good service. The pizza’s are consistently good but the quality of the ingredients does seem to vary with each owner. The current owners seem to be choosing quality cheese and better quality ingredients than others. They are certainly generous with the toppings and cheese. We also often order baked spaghetti which is very good, although the pasta’s inevitably a little soft. One of the better, more traditional thick crust pizza’s in the neighbourhood.

The food itself was ok but service is absolutely HORRIBLE and they forgot some of our food. We called in for delivery and they called us multiple times trying to find the apt. Once they found out we were in Richmond(literally 10 mins from the restaurant) they said sorry we don’t deliver there. We already waited over an hour for food and didn’t want to make another delivery call so we decided to go get it ourselves… When we arrived the lights were all turned off and the door was locked even though they didn’t close for another 20 minutes. We had to call multiple times before the guy(who knew we were coming) let us in to pay. Once we got home we realized they forgot our salad but still charged us for it. We tried to call there today to get our money back but of course no answer. Quite possibly the worst run restaurant.

We live in the neighbourhood and Kerrisdale is not exactly a hot spot for food, so we were ordering from George’s fairly regularly, despite how bad the service is whenever we would pick up. In fact, the bad service we always experience is why we only do take out — I can’t imagine what it’s like to actually sit down there. It’s completely normal to walk up to the front counter and just stand there for 5 minutes while 2 – 3 people stand behind the counter and ignore you. This is not a tightly run ship — it always seems like there’s a problem they’re trying to figure out at the till in front of you while you just stand there. I have never worked in the food industry and yet every time I’m in there I think, just let me behind the counter and I will whip this place into shape in no time. There is clearly a MAJOR problem with management. We never had any issues with the food quality until recently. The last two times we ordered, the food had gone downhill, so now they don’t even have that going for them. We are officially done with this place unless new owners take over. It would not shock me if they went out of business within the next couple of years. It’s a shame because the neighbourhood really needs more food options. Sometimes you just want something other than sushi or McDonald’s, y’know?

Okay … where do I begin? As far as the pizza goes, it’s excellent. I’ve had a difficult time finding a restaurant that matches their pies. They’re stacked with layer and flavor. Aside from a wide variety of pizzas to chose from, the«create your own» pizza menu has the most extensive list of topics I’ve ever seen. There’s everything for everyone. Needless to say, the food isn’t where I take my issue with this place. Professionalism seems to be lost on the manager. My first time visiting, the manager was overly invasive, kept trying to talk to my mother, and at the end of our meal he attempted to give her his phone number. I wouldn’t have returned if it wasn’t for the quality of the food. However … on my second visit I arrived precisely at four, when the restaurant opens. The manager wasn’t done cleaning and told me that they weren’t open yet. I said that it’s four and your sign says that you’re open at four. He told me to go outside and wait fifteen minutes. Yeah … real good business skills there buddy. Did I mention it was raining? That’s definitely how you treat a customer. Maybe he was just bitter than my mother never took his number. Needless to say, I did not wait. Nor did I ever return.

Tried it for the first time tonight. Tasted like I was back in high school and eating at Pizza Hut. Thick oily crust, lots of grease left in the box, yet somewhat satisfying. I would give them a 7.5÷10. I prefer a healthier tasting pizza nowadays but enjoyed the memories of this type of pizza. Also, they were more than fair with the amount of ingredients. Plus the staff member I dealt with was excellent. Great phone service.

As their name suggests, pizza indeed is their strongest suit. Tried the George’s special and it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Papa John’s in Kerrisdale doesn’t even come close. Price-wise it’s a bit more but it’s the taste that counts right? Also had their pasta special: a calamari linguine on a tomato-based sauce. Not bad. However, we were very disappointed with the lamb souvlaki, which was their other«special» of the night. Lamb chunks not tender; texture felt more like jerky. Tasted kind of stale as well. Try Minerva’s instead if you’re in the ‘hood. Theirs are divine! It’s also way too dark inside, especially on a cold, damp winter night. More lights please!

Pizza is full of layers of ingredients! Very tasty and satisfy my cravings!(U’ll love it if u prefer lots of ingredients on your pizza) Roasted lamb combo is soooo good! I couldn’t finish one order by myself cuz the portion is so big. But definitely worth it if u have two or more people to share with! Pasta dishes are amazing too! For sure i will come back for more! Appetizers are all pretty good except for the calamari… They don’t have the sweet and spicy thai sauce. They use a very bland yogurt sauce which doesn’t balance the greasiness of the fried calamari.

Ordered the calamari dinner for take out, included was rice pilaf, roasted potato, tzatziki, pita and Greek salad. Disappointing. The pilaf was season less and chewy without being able to actually chew through, the potato was barely cooked through, the Greek salad was more like a red onion and cucumber salad with 3 chunks of tomato skin and 1 olive. I couldn’t manage to take a bite of the pita. Literally. The calamari, over fried and some were very hard to chew through, if at all, and also season less. The thin, runny tzatziki tastes like acidic yogurt, no cucumber or even anything green to reinforce that it’s tzatziki.(I don’t think it was even Greek yogurt.) On top of it all, the containers weren’t full nor was my food warm, let alone hot. If a semi Greek restaurant can’t do deep fried calamari right, I don’t really have hopes for their other Greek dishes. $ 17 could have been better spent on better take out elsewhere

I agree with Kenneth N, this place is strangely romantic, though I imagine this is 100% unintentional result from it being quite dark inside, and generally pretty dead. My wife loves pizza so whenever we go out, unless I have a terrific alternative suggestion, pizza tends to win out. This is a typical Greek style pizza; a oil rich thick crust with lots of toppings and cheese. Well, I loved it. I am spoiled for pizza when I visit my wifes family in the East Coast of USA, and even though this is certainly not a good authentic Italian style pizza, it is delicious and that is really what its all about. Our main was the lamb dinner which was very good indeed. Braised lamb shoulder, finished in the oven, was flavourful and extremely tender(bordering on overboiled but just a smidgen less). The rice was rich and tasty, and the boiled potato was waxy, starchy, and had a faint lemon taste — really excellent. While I wouldn’t ever come here with friends for a fun night, or bring anyone who cares about ambiance, I was really surprised by the place, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Also, our server was very nice and efficient.

This is now my go to place for pizza w/lots of fresh toppings, esp. when the green peppers and onions are cruuuuunchy – good sign. Ordered their George’s special, w/shrimp and beef, olives, pineapples, green peppers and onions… medium for $ 18, for this area, what the heck. Very nice waitress that helped out. Small cozy, dimmed setting, almost romantic in a way. lots of parking.

Passed by this place many times and finally took the whole family here recently. According to the menu(and the waitress), they’re famous for the pizza. So we ordered that first, and oh, was it ever good. The regular crust was just crunchy/crispy enough and the toppings were all tasty. It is different from what I’ve been experiencing elsewhere in that the crust is thicker and the cheesy is not as, well, cheesy. But I like it as that allows me to actually taste the toppings. I will, however, give the thin crust a try next time. We also ordered the roast lamb leg. The waitress said the portion was huge and it was, though not any bigger than most Greek establishments. It was nonetheless very good, and the kids all loved it. If you’re looking for a nostalgic traditional neighbourhood style pizza /pasta diner, this would be a good choice.

Always wanted to try this place, but finally had an excuse to do so tonight. This part of town is pretty deserted, so it was quite easy to park out front. There are 3 specials one should be aware of: Mondays — $ 7.99 pasta(all but the penne), before upgrades Tuesdays — $ 9.99 pizza(small) Wesnesdays — $ 11.99 roast lamb Service was very friendly. I really liked the waitress and her friendly personality. The inside was a bit old(painted wooden chairs, dingy walls), but it had a classic feel. The sandwich board mentions that the place has been around since 1973, and it shows. Not in a bad way. Caesar salad with anchovies — anchovies were salty. Salad was actually a bit plain. It was missing something, but couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Spinach tortellini with meatball upgrade — excellent pasta. Surprisingly good. Meatballs were a little *too* perfect(ie spherical). Looks like they may have just squished it into some mold. I miss the uneven classic type. George’s Special pizza — baby shrimp, olives, onions. Too salty for my liking. Crust a bit too thick. Toppings were good though. Greek pizza — also too salty. Oh, and the pizzas were PRICEY, at $ 16+ for a 12″ medium. Holy geez. As a result, I would recommend the pasta here, but not the pizza.
