I an not sure if many Canadians are aware of this but our healthcare system has gone from one sweeping, middle of the road, tier to two. The shft has been made before our eyes in the last ten years with clinics like Wellpoint, The Cleveland Clinic, Medcan etc. infiltrating our downtown core. In a sense these places are upscale, thorough(CATSCAN, MRIS, colonoscopies, Pulmonary functioning tests, stress tests etc.) testing meccas — where everything happens on site in one full swoop. The catch is, you have to pay for it, well you don’t(you can’t actually) your corporation does. If you don’t belong to a corporation or you yourself are not incorported, tough luck, go have a seat in Dr. X’s office and she’ll see you in 4 hours. Among these preventative medicine clinics(as they have been come to known) is The Toronto Clinic, situated conveniently in Hazelton Lanes. The place looks more like a hotel lobby than a doctor’s office and the staff matches the décor quite well. Nonetheless the Clinic’s main practitioner is the most thorough, intelligent, and caring doctor one could ever meet and her service alone is worth the fees of the clinic. When becoming a member of this clinic there are also a number of amenities included such as life coaching, massage, naturopathic sessions, nutrition planning, and physical training.
