Viet Taste Restaurant

Great little Vietnamese Place that my Mom and Step-​Dad have found in my old hood in Ottawa. Vietnames is usually pretty solid in Ottawa due to the large community and ths place is no exception. Family run, with your usual options of Phở, Vermecell and Rice.
I had the Wrap and Roll. This is something I haven’t seen in a lot of Vietnamese places in Toronto. You get your own rice rolls, bamboo shoots, lettuce, rice and grilled beef plus satay and fish sauce and create your own rolls. So good and so simple and so fresh. Tried some of Mom’s Phở and it was good as well. The broth was tasty but not as salty as some that I’ve had.
Triple GO GO GO

Stopped in for afternoon phở. A solid broth and the additions (beef/​tripe/​tendons) were all very good. Priced on par with phở bo ga, which is pretty good for westboro. It’s a small family business and they are very friendly. It’s very conveniently located and I’ll go back.
It also looked like they had a good selection of thai and chinese entrees as well (noodle dishes and plates).

Great restaurant! The staff is very attentive and food is always very fresh and flavorful. This is definitely a «go to» restaurant for my family.

Most Phở in the city is about the same. But this place takes it to a new level. You owe it to yourself to check it out.

Needed something to warm us up on a friggin cold day. Stumbled upon Viet Taste in Hintonburg. The Vietnamese hot & sour soup really hit the spot! Full of flavour and veggies.
Will come back and try more next time I’m in Ottawa.

I went here for lunch today with a friend of mine after some Christmas shopping.
Viet Taste is a newly opened restaurant in the space where Chickpea (Baby and Kids’ Clothing) used to be.
We were greeted promptly, advised we could sit anywhere and then given a pot of tea (which was much appreciated after coming in from the cold).
I had the S3 which was a «Special Soup» with crab, shrimp and fish balls with tapioca noodles (I had the Large which was $ 11.25. I think the Small was $ 8.99 and the Medium around $ 10). My friend had the Seafood Tom Kha Soup (which also came in Small, Medium or Large, prices were the same as my soup).
The Large was a good size for me, it’s not too big. The crab in the soup is imitation crab sticks, not real crab. There were several pieces of the crab stick, 2 tiny bay scallops, 4 – 5 large shrimp and lots of fried fish balls. There was also finely shredded cabbage, tiny pieces of fried shallots/​onions and fresh cilantro in the soup. The menu said that it came with tapioca noodles, but honestly they looked like udon noodles to me. They were not translucent the way tapioca noodles usually are. Anyway, the soup was still delicious. The broth was very light, mild and not overly salty. My only suggestion would be more vegetables in this soup.
My friend really liked her Tom Kha soup. She said it was spicy but not overly spicy. It smelled like it had a lot of fish sauce in it though, so I would caution against it if you don’t like fish sauce.
The restaurant is clean (including the women’s washroom) and the server was nice. I would return.

Top notch Phở and various other Asian dishes. Shrimp fresh rolls are on point and the staff is super friendly. A hidden gem in Ottawa’s Phở scene.

Viet Taste Restaurant on Wellington Street West just opened last week. My husband and I went there on Friday and were very pleased with the food we tried. We had Spring rolls, fresh Salad Rolls, Crispy Fried Noodles and the Sate Chicken Vermicelli. All dishes were very well prepared, nicely presented and delicious. Vietnamese food is one of my favorites and something that I eat regularly and Viet Taste Restaurant is serving up dishes as good as I’ve had anywhere. The service was very good and the décor clean and pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant.
