Service is really great! super friendly staffs The restaurant seating zones has a huge wall between it and when I chose to sit somewhere they couldn’t see me I was worried it’ll be hard to call for a waiter but they were really attentive. I went at 2pm which was kind of a strange time to eat lunch or dinner so it was pretty empty apart from one other table. I ordered the hu tieu mi gia with bbq pork and shrimp because I figured, the place is called hu tieu mi gia. they must specialize in that right? and there’s phở available everywhere else so I thought I’d just order that. And it was the right choice, it was very very good. Tastes very authentic. Even though that was the only thing I ordered, I was very satisfied! If I ever visit Ottawa again I would definitely remember to come here!

Love this place. The staff is super friendly and very anxious to please. The standard phở is very good, not my absolute favourite but no complaints. A bit smaller than some of the other phở places, however some of those portions are absurd. What really stands out is the soup options that that they specialize in. The noodles are all hand cut and the chicken broth is outstanding. The last time I was there I had a beef stew with rice noodles and brisket which I can’t stop thinking about. It was incredible. This place has definitely entered my personal phở pantheon, no easy task.

I came after lunch, around 3:30pm. It was quiet. I was greeted and seated quickly. I am only giving 3 star because the #5 phở soup lacked meat. I am no stranger to chinatown noodle houses. My fav for portion size is phở bo ga 2, the purple one. The broth is quite good here just the soup lack the trimmings. The staff is very friendly.

I came here for lunch and ordered from their lunch menu. It comes with an appetizer(wonton soup or spring rolls) and then the meal. The portions are really big and the price is fair. As for taste, I loved it because it tasted a lot better compared to the Vietnamese cuisine I have back in Toronto! The service was great. The waitress I had was really nice and friendly. The wait for the food want too bad either since you can watch tv while waiting for your order. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area!

I finally made it for lunch today. They offer an interesting brunch menu(one plate consisted of eggs, a slice of beef and vietnamese ham, for example) but I opted for the Hu Tieu Mi Gia noodle bowl which I have read about on other Ottawa food blogs. I started with drip coffee which was strong and hot and is what I was looking for. It doesn’t always come out warm enough in other places where I have had it. I then ordered the house special noodle(the Hu Tieu Mi Gia) while my sister ordered a more traditional phở. Mine was very tasty with thin slices of BBQ pork, green onions, a huge lettuce leaf, deep fried onion bits(I think) and a side of deep fried bread stick. I chose the rice noodles. I liked it — savoury taste with quite a bit of sweetness. There was, however, a little bit too much rice noodles, and therefore, not enough soup. My sister’s phở was huge(she was told there is only one size available despite the menu saying M or L) but also satisfying. Overall, a decent option in the Chinatown core if you are looking for a traditional Vietnamese noodle place. Don’t expect much in terms of ambience though — it is plain.

This place does hand pulled rice and egg noodles which are outstanding. They’re known for their Hu Tieu Mi Gia(coincidentally the name of the restaurant). A must try and the staff and very friendly and helpful.

I was very impressed when I came in here one day, looking only for some Vietnamese iced coffee to cool me off on my walk home. The hostess insisted that I sit down and have a glass of ice water while I waited for her to make it. I was grateful because it was one of those really hot days we’ve been having this summer.
