I love this place. It’s a little treasure hidden at the Quay. They have spices, herbs, condiments, dried fruit and nuts for any cuisine from Thai to Italian. Love the variety and everything is in small packets and fresh. You don’t want to buy herbs and spices in large quantities because you don’t want them to get stale. The service is lovely and they are quite knowledgeable– I always get great cooking tips. Give it a try!

This store is like a condiment museum. Spices, sauces, some common, some not so common… All inspiring. I found things that I’ve been looking for for years under one roof and things that I would like to try for the first time. They have spices on the wall in little zip look bags with handwritten titles on them = very DIY which adds a charm to the place. I am all about charm. So here is where it falls flat for me as a foodie and a baker… the customer service was horrible. There were a few spices that I never heard of. I inquired for more information on the different types of saffron, however, the lady was rude and seemed disinterested in helping me. When asked if I could smell one the spices, she was reluctant to assist me. I had to wrestle with her for 2 minutes just to smell something that I was highly interested in. I eventually gave up and put back $ 10 worth of stuff back on the shelf. I can’t invest in a business with a rude attitude. The plus side is that everything is reasonable and affordable. It’s ’cause of the customer service I have to give it 3 stars instead of the 4 that I had wanted to based on the product line.

This is a small store inside Lonsdale Quay Market that sells a variety of spices, sauces and herbs, some of which are quite rare in my opinion. I found some frozen galangal, pandan leaves, belacan from Penang, curry powder blends, and candlenuts, all of which are used heavily in Southeast Asian cooking. I’ve never used candlenut before but many recipes that I am working on call for it. So I bought a small packet of it, which only costs $ 2. Many spices and herbs are also available in smaller packets, perfect for people who just want to try them out.
