Fantastic service. Great presentation. The steak was amazing. Great wait staff. Felt like royalty. Best steak I’ve ever had.

WOW! We just arrived from one of the best meals any of us had ever had at a Steakhouse. I think that many of the negative reviews are left because of its high prices but when the food quality is that excellent, one must expect those high prices. Our server, Lambros, and the rest of the team really took our meal to the next level. To start, I had the Italian filet mignon tartar made with black truffle oil and Parmesan cheese(amazing with a slice of black truffle on top). We ordered 220oz Kobe steaks and a lobster tail for our table of 6. These were so wonderful and impressive that even the cooks were taking pictures of the steaks they had just cooked up for us. Every one of the sides we ordered were awesome, in order of my most favorite: Brussel sprouts, corn, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes. He also recommended a wonderful wine bottle that complemented our meal impeccably and especially the cheesecake dessert(unbelievably good!!). We’re really hoping to make it back tomorrow before going back home. This might just be our new Montréal favorite.

Screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice… shame on me! Went to the old location for a birthday with my wife, was mistreated and really didn’t enjoy the food. Just went back for a friend’s bday, to the new location and the same story. It was very average steak and steak is my thing. This resto is supposed to be known for their prime meats, but I’m still very unimpressed. We shared bunch of $ 25 appetizers and nothing was memorable or even that good. The waiter made it uncomfortable when he tried to up-sell us on everything and he also mis-quoted us on some market price oysters. There are so many better places to spend $$$$ on a meal in Montréal. I won’t be back.

QDC has been one of my absolute favourite restaurants almost 10 years now. My most recent visit has led me to write a review letting those who are either not familiar with this special place but even for those who do that QDC remains one of kind to its fullest. My recent visit was on Dec. 4 for my 35th birthday! i was accompanied by my husband, 2 year old daughter, in-laws and my mom who were blows away buy the service, staff, food and ambience. In a nutshell my mother kept asking me, «what have we done to get this incredible service as if we are special»? the truth is, Peter Morenztos and his staff treat every customer as if they are famous! From the minute you walk in, you are greeted by right away. The rest of the evening as spent being pampered over with delicious food and generous portions. should anything have gotten cool over 10 minutes, a warmer version was brought to us. Our daughter was pleasantly greeted by everyone and Peter M himself spent time getting to know us and making sure we were all more than satisfied! Thank QDC for making my 35th one to remember!

Very attentive and helpful staff across the board. Hostess, waitress, bartender were all great. The food was mediocre. You really go more for the broad experience than the food. Not that the food was bad. But I definitely wouldn’t be going back if I really wanted a great steak. It’s just ok.

My husband brought me to this place because the French restaurant that we have been going in the past 3 years, The Fairmount Elizabwth Hotel Beaver Club, for my birthday, was under renovation(our yearly tradition). Food was ok, more Montrealers’ standards, there are many other options for tasting steak and seafood. we ordered a fresh sea urchin sitting on the ice hill at the seafood counter area. I wanted it because i always take sea urchin sashimi style at japanese restaurants. We were disappointed about this dish since there were loads of seaweed inside the shell, interwined between the meat, making it hard to eat, taste it on my tongue and swallow it because I had to remove the seaweed at every single bite. No way, this was completely not what I used to like from Japanese cuisine. We wasted $ 29.00 + tax for this little creature!!! Other dishes included rack of lamb grilled on charcoal, prime rib steak au jus, grilled jumbo tiger shrimps with thai style sauce. I had a glass of white wine from the limited by-the-glass selection list. At the end, We expected an expensive bill because of its reputation: $ 360. We were not at all astonished and satisfied with the food. Don’t think we will come back again.

My friends were here from out of town and wanted to try this place because they had heard about it. I had been before for dinner & lunch so I was up for a nice steakhouse. The place is well decorated. The service is excellent. The food is great. If you are not in the mood for steak they also have great seafood. The greek salad with aged feta is delicious. It’s pretty big so you could share it. Their seafood bar is amazing. Large cocktail shrimp. Their beef tartare is great. They have different cuts of steak which is amazing to choose from. Sides like french fries or mashed potatoes complete your meal. A lot of people complain that it’s not the best steakhouse. We are spoiled with amazing food in Montréal. I still believe the best steak is the one you make at home. But none the less this place is worth the try. It might be pricey for some but honestly you will enjoy the food & the experience.

We are visiting from Chicago and went on a recommendation from the hotel. The service was outstanding. I loved, loved the tuna tartare! My fish entrée was excellent– my husband’s steak was wonderful. I agree that it was pricy but I must applauded them on fabulous service.

Just to confirm all the less than stellar reviews here. Far better places for much cheaper prices. You’ll need to ask for salt because they don’t use any. Service is a bit overbearing. Layout of the restaurant means it’s likely someone will bump into your chair a few times while dinning, usually the wait staff. Don’t get the twice cooked bake potato fries. Also watch that they will try to sell you a more expensive bottle of wine, even if it’s not as good.(Since I’m from California wine country I happen to know). They do not offer corkage, so don’t bring your own bottle of wine. Even the layer chocolate dessert was not very rich nor complex in flavors. At these prices the bar is pretty high. Very disappointed.

The single best place for people-watching I know of, especially if you’re a fan of motorsport and visiting during an F1 weekend. Team bosses, technical directors, and drivers are abound, some of whom make you wonder how they’ll perform the following afternoon given their indulgences on this night in your near-company.

Amazing place Best experience so far, they have the best wine and an amazing variety of excellent heavenly starters, I could only be satisfied with the starters for they were extremely good, they seem to use the best ingredients and the best flavors, they have the best steaks and sea food in Montréal, a place not to miss when in town, they have a huge bar downstairs with a big variety of sea food and another place upstairs, the dishes were coming out of an open kitchen where you could see the chefs preparing the food with the best high quality ingredients and the best presentation, considering that they have the best steaks and sea food in town they are not as pricey as we thought, we tried the steak and halibut and as entrees the Aliki salad(Greek salad) and the tartare of tuna and salmon and everything was amazing and out of this world ! A gem place in Montréal!

2 stars is a stretch for this place. It used to be soooo much better before!!! For 1, its overpriced– i dont mind paying for great food, but their food is sub par! Nothing nooothing was great. I hate that there are 7 tables and 20 waiters– hello!!! Some privacy please! Also, do they get regular beatings there? You could cut the pressure with a knife there! I just could not relax and sit back. A supposedly romantic date night was almost ruined, we decided to go for desert to la societe– that saved the evening! All in all– dont go! Dont waste your money! Spend your $ 300 per couple at maison boulud or europea!

Queue de Cheval has been heralded as amongst the top steakhouses in Montréal — and i’m sorry to say — but this is far from true. I had an interesting experience at the restaurant — i got to see it at a few stress points. Namely the following: The restaurant was busy — seated right next to the open kitchen — the stress of being busy turned into chefs yelling at each other and swearing at each other which really didn’t make for a pleasant experience. We got a bad steak — a companion got a bad steak, and so at the prices we were paying, we suggested she let the mgmt know. Their response was to get her a new steak and charge her for both. Appalling and cheap. The ‘fresh’ food — i didn’t think much for the food. I had a 120z baseball filet. My filet was not even close to baseball shaped — it was more a flat sirloin. And the meat was not tender like a typical filet either. It felt like i had been served a sirloin but i didn’t bother saying anything. Add to it, the steak was terribly burnt on the outside, with a sharp gas tasting char to it. And add to it, i ordered the U5 shrimp at the suggestion of the server, which came out with an apricot basil sauce of some sort — i wish i had been warned or informed of that prior because it was not good at all. Overall, i found the food bad, the service excellent, the ambience interesting but terrible thanks to the yelling chefs, and the management horrid. At $ 280 per head, i would expect so much more. I left feeling like i had totally been ripped off the experience i was expecting. I will never go here and i suggest you don’t either. If you’re looking for a good steak in Montréal, go to Viex Port, Moishes or Joe Beef — but stay clear of this excuse of a restaurant.

Over the years I have been there several times. The old place was simply amazing to look at and the food and service were the very best. Something has been lost here about the old place. The magic of a wonderful dining experience is gone. It was actually a really enjoyable and memorable place to go to nearly 20 years ago. Now it seems like it has lost its soul. Frankly it now feels all about money and all about trying to squeeze you for every penny. I am not pleased with my recent visit. In the past I did not mind paying such inflated prices because I am an infrequent visitor to Montréal and my trips to this establishment were kind of like a personal treat. Well I am sad to say that the treat part is no longer in existence. I will need to look elsewhere to be pampered and have a stress free and excellent dining experience that I used to find here. It is GONE. As many of the other reviews have stated here on Unilocal the feeling is a common one that this place is very over priced and it seems that more and more of the members here feel that the food quality and service has gone down hill from what it used to be. I am sad to be reporting this news as it means that one more good memory from the past days has left and is no longer with us. I note that many of the reviews here are making the same comment that they liked the place better in the old location and that the experience is no longer what it was or worth the crazy prices they are charging. I have decided to take the high road here and I have removed much of what I originally had to say because I believe it is better to save my energy for giving praise to a place that gave me a good experience rather than trashing a place that really offended me and disappointed me. I hope that my comments here will encourage the ownership to step up their game, stop taking people for granted and try and restore the old level of service and quality to which their reputation was built.

Really disappointing… My wife and I visited this restaurant because we both wanted to treat ourselves to a nice steak and felt we couldn’t go wrong at a «fancy» place. This place tries to be a Capital Grille or Mortons but does not come close in my opinion. My Beefeater had floating chunks of blue cheese in it from the poorly stuffed blue cheese olives and the waiter was extremely annoyed that I sent it back. He seemed to have an attitude the entire time actually… The filet I ordered medium rare was a flavorless medium. I had a MUCH better steak at Firegrill that day for a fraction of the price. The steaks were also not fired on time, we waited an additional 20 minutes and would have assumed the manager would comp a round of drinks but never even came over. The poor guy in the red jacket who was running around trying to attend to everyone was seen getting scolded by the waiter in front of everyone which was embarrassing. This place really is not worth the price. We paid $ 200…What a mistake.

This is a review for the Burger Counter at the back of the new building. It’s probably the cheapest way to find out about the hype without spending a fortune. Still pricey, around $ 20 for a burger, fries and soft drink. I had the Mob Burger, Pepperoni, Mozzarella, spicy tomato sauce and Mushrooms. While I can tell that the ingredients are top notch, my burger tasted like pizza with some ground beef in the middle. It was not my first choice(they ran out of the MTL Burger Week Special), and was recommended by the staff. I went back the next day to see if they had the Special, they ran out. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Description below — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – (An incredibly delicious and unique cult burger consisting of fresh saffron hollandaise, a sunny side egg, sauteed wild mushrooms, sauteed Jumbo Bay Scallops(Butterfly), 3 – 4 oz medallion of Filet Mignon, bacon jam, confetti of red tobiko caviar with a drizzle of truffle oil all resting between 2 artisan bread buns, $ 14.99) I would go back and try whatever else burgers they have, but that QDC burger is a must, the guy said they might bring it back on the regular menu. Skip the fries, they are ok, but not sensational and not worth $ 3.50. Service is ok, they had just re-opened but already were strumming along. There’s not much of a seating area and you’re gonna be eating sitting on a bench in a parking lot. Best to eat it elsewhere.

I had been to this place years ago. And its just as expensive as I remember!!! I was not sure if I should give 3 or 4 stars! My wife ordered the seafood platter as an opener! It was big and so was the cost. This is how I described it, OK and expensive while when I think of Florida where its amazing and cheap! My wife still liked it! I ordered the Baseball cut fillet Mignon! I wanted it med-rare. Have of it was but the other half was well done and dry!!! Strange!!! It was good and I enjoyed my meal and the wine. Dessert was a white chocolate cheese cake which I had a small sample and it was great!!! I am easy going but the boss was swearing his head off at the staff and was freaking out some of the customers! He should just be careful with the F words. Does not bother me but it did others and this is a fancy restaurant!!! For this reason 3 stars instead of 4!!!
