I love this building! I’m so glad that this place exists and a bonus for me is that it’s super close to my house! This place is home to so many great businesses including SATTVA(my favourite yoda studio), a daycare, Blush Lane(fantastic organic market, Under The High Wheel(classy eats), De Capo(classy coffee), a couple reallllllly great therapeutic massage places, a place to get great health advice(vitamins, supplements), a hair studio, and more! Roots on Whyte is your one stop feel good building on Whyte! As you walk in you’ll see a front desk area and you can ask the front desk people questions about where to go, or just say hello to them — they’re wonderful people! I love chatting with them after yoga! There’s just a great energy in this building! It’s awesome! Check it out and feel great!

With a yoga studio, health supplement store, an organic grocery store, and fantastic ice cream(at da Capo) all together in one building I find myself here frequently. There is a parkade located under the building with low rates compared to most other places on and around Whyte, and if you do any shopping at Blush Lane during your stay(I believe if you spend over $ 25) you get $ 2 of your parking fee reimbursed. A 90 minute stay in the parkade is $ 2, so you can attend a yoga class and grab some groceries without paying for parking at all! A warning though, the parking prices are very strange, with the price/hour increasing the longer you stay. This building is extremely well maintained and the décor is up-to-date. Blush Lane often holds free cooking classes in a conference room on the third floor which is also well-maintained. The atmosphere in this building is very welcoming and open and I’ve met a lot of really friendly, fantastic people here!

This building includes many great services, along with some large spacious meeting spaces. You can find wellness specialists of many types here as well as an organic grocery store(Blush), a coffee shop and a great catering outfit. The underground parkade offers free parking validation with a purchase at Blush, and the rates are quite reasonable for the area(though there is free parking in the area as well as excellent public transportation with a bus stop right in front of the building.

So happy to have Roots on Whyte on my doorstep. A one-stop shop for all things healthy, organic and preventative. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and all the owners are fantastic. Passionate, committed, caring. And there’s a drop off childcare place, so doesn’t get much better. Somewhere to leave the kids so you can have your hair cut at the organic hairdresser, teeth at the biocompatible dentist, yoga, pilates, holistic therapists of every type, spa, supplements, hypnotherapy and counseling. FAbulous. Thanks for making our neighbourhood so much better.

I was shopping for a supplement and found expired product for sale. Browsing around, I saw several other expired supplements as well. I chose to leave.

Frankly, I don’t see the point of Organic Roots’ existence. It is located several blocks from Planet Organic where environmentally conscious consumers can have all their shopping needs fulfilled. Organic Roots occupies a rather large floor space but offers limited number of products. There are supplements, skin care items, cleaning products and a small section with food both bulk and pre-packed. There is also an organic café that serves soups, salads, wraps and smoothies. I guess I was expecting Organic Roots to be a health food store rather than herbs and supplements store, that’s why I was disappointed with the store’s selection. If I didn’t already have a favorite vitamins and supplements store, I might have considered shopping at Organic Roots; but for now Optimum Health Vitamins is beyond competition in my book.

I stopped by Organic Roots today to see if they had any coconut oil, which they did. The staff were very nice in helping me find it, and it took me awhile to pick one out since they had several kinds. I chatted to one woman who worked there about the products, and she told me about the many uses for coconut oil — as skin moisturizer, for instance — which I found really interesting. I finally settled on one, and as she rung up the sale she told me about the brand I was buying, and how they actually let monkeys pick the coconuts to be used. I thought that was pretty funny. So the service here is always great, but the only thing I have a problem with is their pricing system. It’s really hard to see which labels on the shelf belong to which items, and I often get confused, buy one product, and realize it was a different price. So they might want to organize their shelves better. But it won’t stop me from coming here, because I like giving them my business.

I was so disappointed when the original Organic Roots closed down. It was my absolute favourite organic food store. Although I am glad to see this business up and running again, I am disappointed with how much they’ve downsized. The new store is rather small, and it now focuses mostly on vitamins and other health supplements. There is a small section of organic food and gluten-free products, and there’s a small seating area, where you can sit and have a lunch or an antioxidant smoothie(healthy!). The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help. I bought some vitamins, and the lady gave me a student discount, which was great. I will continue to shop here, because I am loyal to this place, and their prices are still very reasonable, especially the vitamins. I do hope they expand again one day soon – I really miss their humus!
