Went here yesterday to get candle making supplies for Christmas gifts. I have never made candles before and the staff was super helpful in a non-annoying or over the top kind of way. Everyone in the store was very nice and knowledgeable, way easier than going to Michaels and trying to figure it out myself. Got all the things I needed in one place and even mentioned that I can call them if I have any questions at any time while I am attempting the candles.

I’ve finally learned to not go in here when I’m in a hurry because there is no way that I can just duck in for one or two things. They just have too much great stuff there to make this possible. I’ve been making soap for a while now — nothing too terribly fancy — just the melt and pour stuff with some scents/colours and so on. But I was always buying my soap base from Michaels and paying about 50.00 for a big tub. At first I wanted to come here because they have way better prices. They also have a great selection of a variety of soap bases, molds, dyes and scents. I got inspired to make candles after a visit here and their advice was very helpful. One of the people there actually showed me their warehouse where they make candles for movie sets and gave me a rundown on the different effects that various techniques can create(ie huge, dramatic flames, candles that flicker a lot etc.). Excellent value, quality and service :)

Crafting wonderland They have everything you could think to need for candle making. I made my own Christmas candles this year for gifts and despite my obvious lack of knowledge the staff helped me find everything I needed plus told me tips and tricks along the way. Thanks to this awesome convenient store I now have plenty of wonderful smelling candles that were actually super easy to create and a new hobby. P. s. I did quite a lot of shopping around other stores and online and this store beats every price I found per pound of wax

You’ll find this craft heaven in the midst of an industrial park. Enter through a side door to a mildly sketchy warehouse and head down a long, dark corridor. Initially, I regretted heading to Wicks and Wax by myself(having watch too many CSIs where nothing good comes from women walking through sketchy warehouses alone). But finding a store dedicated solely to soap and candle making was worth it. Having been inspired to make my own Christmas presents last year, I googled locations for stocking up on a long list of random products: melt-and-pour glycerin soap, candle and soap shapes, wicks, scents, coloring, and wax. Wicks and Wax was pretty much my only option in GVRD. The staff provided excellent help and were very patient with me, despite my limited understanding of wick width and its effect on the flame height and burning speed of a candle. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, plus the store website offers plenty of definitions and tips. You won’t find this same quality, quantity, or variety of product at Michael’s or DeSerres.
