From the outside it looks inviting with gift hampers well wrapped in the window facing out and cute chalk signs. There is a vast range of wines, whiskeys and champagnes. You can also buy gourmet snacks as well as things such as milk. There is apparently a cellar(according to the perfect chalk sign!) I would’ve loved to check it out but I only had 10 or so minutes until I had to meet my partner, definitely next time! The man who served me(owner perhaps?) wandered over to me after I was in the store for a few minutes. I said I was looking for French champagne and asked what he recommended. He walked me over to the champagne section and was knowledgeable about brands and flavours. He explained several bottles and the reason why they were popular. I picked a bottle of Gosset which was $ 90, he said it was from the oldest champagne house.(As a side note, my partner & I really enjoyed the bottle.) When I was checking in he asked me what I was doing on my phone and I said that I was trying to check in on Unilocal!(I can’t help myself, working towards my next badge!) He asked what Unilocal was and when I told him, he knocked 10% off and asked if I could upload some photos, I already intended to! He told me that the business had changed hands a couple of years ago and prides itself more on wines & whiskeys, it use to be more of a deli /convenient store. I would recommend this place not just for the wide range of alcohol but also because the service was fantastic!

Gangemi’s is similar to many other gourmet supermarkets in Perth. Food-wise you can get some delicious gourmet pates and olives and a caramelised onion jam but I found myself a little disappointed that they didn’t have a homemade hummus. Their main focus here is on wines, liquors and international beers. You can get many dutch and german Weisbiers here. I didn’t find sufficient reason to shop here rather than a cheaper alternative. I will keep looking though and hope to be proved wrong.
