We came on a sunny Saturday arvo and was pretty impressed by the café in a gardening shop concept. The deco and immaculately manicured pot plants added a unique character to the café. It was too sunny to sit at the rooftop dining area(although it would be great if they had some sunshades), so we just sat indoors near the little fountain. They had a good selection of drinks and also served alcohol. There are some local beer on bottle served at a reasonable price. We tried the ice tea and ice chocolate to quench our thirst from a long walk from where we parked(parking was pretty tricky around this area — be warned). We were quite disappointed by both beverages. They were bland and very diluted. We ordered the risotto fritters and Caesar salad with salmon to try one dish each from the brekkie and lunch menu. The risotto was average, they over fried the balls and made it too crunchy. The sausages that accompanied it was very good tho! The Caesar salad was the better dish. Fresh and full of texture from the crunchy fritters to the soft gooey poached egg. I had high hopes for twig café because it had a pretty good rating from Unilocal.Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations this time. I’ll still give it a go next time I’m around the area tho!

Visit if you wish but please leave your car at home. Locals dislike being unable to park when they get home because of all the coffee guzzlers parking us out. Please catch the bus.

Ok, I live in the area and I’ve tasted the coffee in a fair few places. But I still think twig is the best around. It’s got Great food with all natural ingredients. Their coffee is lovely so I swing by most mornings for a strong latte. It has a roof top area which is nice in the summer. But the best thing about the café is the service, the guys are great and super friendly. My only complaint is they only do eggs Benny on the weekend…

Coealic adventurers! You can eat here and you will love it! Redfern is mostly known for houso’s, homeless and general riff raff, but this area has so many great coffee houses and eating café’s that if your a real foodie adventurer then you should not miss this part of sydney at all! Twig café is hidden on young st…(yes we know that young st has the big huge towers of housing commission) however it also has beautifully well preserved federation homes, tree lined streets and the street splits in two. To find this café it is on the corner of cleveland and young st. Twig café is set amongst the very popular garden life centre… Why should an adventurer eat here? It’s philosophy is why? How many cafes have a philosophy? Where possible, Twig café uses locally sourced produce from the Sydney basin. Reduced food miles, fresh produce, chemical free and seasonal eating is their philosophy, and they are sticking with it. They are not just talking the green talk ’cause it sounds good. It’s what they do… it’s embedded in the Garden Life philosophy. But also… The Francis family has an impeccable foodie pedigree with Richard having been the Executive Chef for bills and Eight Over Eight restaurant in London. HOTCHOCOLATELOVERS!!! Whilst hot chocolate is apart of every café… the extensive variety here is almost like a chocolate café such as max brenner, churos etc… I call their hot chocolates, Choctails!!! Yummmy… The variety of GF available: You have your own separate menu! So I really don’t have to go any further than that really! because when they supply you a menu you know your being looked after. Get out of the norm… head to redfern… head to twig café and when you leave purchase a pot plant too;)

Great little café that’s tucked right off of Cleveland St. I love that it’s surrounded by all the plants from the Garden Life store. Come here on a sunny day and enjoy the outdoor seating or even their upstairs, rooftop seating. On a rainy day, you can nestle in their indoor area all the while chatting with your friend and having a beautiful bite to eat. It’s got a relaxing, soothing energy to it that is sure to lift your spirits.
