An on campus crêperie, what more could you possibly want. A student run initiative, Crêpes a la carte has proven to be widely popular. Inspired by the proliferation of crêpe stalls in both Paris and Tokyo, this place is a clever addition to the University’s somewhat limited dining scene. The majority of ingredients are locally derived(save from the classic crêpe accompaniment that is Nutella) such as Healesville-produced Jam Lady jam, and Victorian and Kangaroo Island free range eggs. For an Aussie take try the Vegemite and Cheese(weirdly enough this works well in crêpe form). The free-range egg, goat’s cheese and spinach crêpe is equally delcious. Not to mention the sweet classic such as Lemon and Sugar. These entrepreneurial students really are onto something here.

Location: Enter into University of Melbourne via Gate 10 and you will see a sign directing you to this streetcar. It is right behind John Medley West Building. First of all, how could I not support a student-run business? I feel your pain, struggling university students. First thing I have to note is the really really friendly service. Unlike a lot of businesses, this spot truly loves their customers. They greet you with a smile and are very polite and courteous. You should definitely look around their website and/or Facebook page where they explain the history of their bold and youthful entrepreneurship. I will always support them just because they are great people! The crepes are not bad either and at affordable prices as well, starting with a basic butter and sugar crêpe at 3.50(delicious!). Next, I got a banana, honey, and cinnamon crêpe with whipped cream and it was delicious as well. Fair warning though! They put their crepes in little carboard cone containers that have a tiny hole at the bottom so if your crêpe can potentially drip(for example, honey), watch out! Cover it with a napkin! Ways they can improve: ~ They could upgrade on the variety of crepes they offer. They have a lot of basic fillings, but nothing that really stands out as amazing. I’m a huge fan of this business. The crepes are fantastic, the customer service is fantastic, what more can you want? Even if you are not a student, or staff member, or affiliated with University of Melbourne at all, this place rocks and you most definitely stop by!
