So we were told by locals that this is a popular crêpe place. Even though we were really full from lunch, we couldn’t resist popping into the shop for a coupe of crepes for desserts. We had a simple butter and sugar crêpe as well as the strawberry special. Gotta say the crepes are rally amazing. The crust is light and buttery. There must be something in the batter that somehow sets it apart from other crepes. It’s a subtle yet visible taste that one can’t put a finger on it. Too bad we didn’t managed to try the galettes but that leaves a reason to come back again. If you’ll like a cuppa but don’t feel like coffee, do try their dark hot chocolate. The chocolatey taste is rich and creamy, leaves you wanting more. A must-go the next time I travel to Melbourne.

Welcome to La France !

Here is a little Brunswick street treasure that I share reluctantly. Only so I can keep it for myself. What a delightful breakfast that exceeded my expectations. Chicken Marengo Crepes were to die for. Beraldo coffee always goes down well for me so all is good in my world. Décor is French provincial and after 15 years in business it looks the part. Love it! It’s a visit that is guaranteed to become a fav. One star set aside for my next encounter.

Lovely little creperie with solid savoury and sweet crepes. They also have quite a selection of other baked goodies to take home inside.

I aint never been to france! but this is probably as parisian as it gets in ol’ melbourne! the ambiance of this place is very romantic and cozy, great place for dessert with that date of yours if you want to score extra points. But of course they also serve great food — crepes to be specific. About $ 8 each. They serve savoury and sweet styles and also have home made ice creams to accompany.($ 3 a scoop) All i have to say is BUTTERBUTTERBUTTER! This place is BUTTER!!!

A nice quaint little shop, with a very honest, authentic French feel to it(and according to the board, they even have a monthly French speaking day!) Crepes were very good and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was light and friendly. Enjoyed our visit :)

Came here for dessert with a friend. She ordered strawberry crepes and I ordered the rhubarb with coconut ice cream. Both were delicious and I love that they use buckwheat flour for the crêpe itself. I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It reminded me of a tea house or of a cozy family-style restaurant back in the U.S. It was warm and inviting and the handsome waiter was polite.(I love not having to ask for water at the start of a meal.) I can’t wait to try out some of the savoury crepes. The little gift shop offerings were nice, as well. All-in-all a nice meal.

I’m looking for the right word to describe Breizoz, kitsch and clichéd aren’t quite right so I think I’ll settle on ‘daggy’, from the coloured plastic water jugs to the French soundtrack — yes daggy is about right I think. I opted for the scallop and prawn galette special for $ 19, it was served with oyster mushrooms and a béchamel sauce and the galetes were stuffed with cheese and a small leafy salad occupied the balance of the plate. The food was to my table in double quick time. Among the specials were a red, white or rose wine by the glass or bottle — not something you come across very often if at all so I duly selected a little red number from the Rhone for $ 7.50/ glass. Overall it was an inoffensive experience without rendering me with the desire to rush back anytime soon. The table beside me ordered a Flambé Jaffa Surprise for dessert — it looked(see photo) and apparently tasted delicious; however, as I’m ‘sugar free’ I resisted temptation. You may want to try it!

The idea of hot, sweet, crepes on a cold night sure does sound good to me! While the set up of this place may be a little basic, the service is lovely(some of the best I’ve had in months!) and orders are quick to arrive on the table. We shared the goat and Swiss cheese galette — a wise decision because it was quite rich. A terrific match with the cups of traditional unfiltered French Cidre. At a mere $ 5.60 a cup or $ 16 a bottle, I could happily drink this all night if I were here for a longer meal. We couldn’t leave without something sweet. A chestnut and rhum crêpe for him and the apple and Calvados galette for me. Both got drenched at the table with flaming liquor making for a little bit of theatre and danger as we feared our eyebrows would get singed off!

As the menu slogan reads — «There is no entrée and main course. Have one, then have another, but save room for dessert!» This small creperie not only serves savoury galettes and sweet crepes, but the owners and staff members are also French, so that really sets the scene to this cosy nook situated on the corner of Gertrude and Brunswick Street. The front dining room is simple with a French country undertone. It’s bright and cheerful and homely. The back room is a little bare and cold, so I recommend a seat in the front, so you can people watch while you stuff your face silly. Savoury crepes start off simple with fillings like butter, ham and cheese, but then become more gourmet as you scroll down the menu. I love the egg, goat cheese and mushroom galette, and the Le Pave«The brick» — A double galette with egg, ham, cheese, mushroom and tomato. If you’re more of a sweet tooth, there’s jam, honey, banana, apple, chocolate and almond praline fillings to name a few. Prices are reasonable until you start adding extra fillings. If you’ve got a sweet craving, then it’s a cute place to visit.

Six of us arrived a bit before closing time which I don’t think the staff were very happy about… the service was quite off hand and cool. We all had the savory crepes which were just ok, a bit bland, edible but nothing special. Two of us went up to pay with cards and they wouldn’t allow us to split the bill between the 2 of us. I can understand with a big table where everyone wants to pay separately but straight down the middle between 2 customers… it’s really not hard. Won’t be going back.

Sweet and Savory Crepes Accessible in Fitzroy, My Stomach is Glad. I had the crêpe a la crème de marron, which unfortunately tasted pretty pedestrian. However, this shop is just off Brunswick Street making it very easy to get to. They’re open till 10pm, so come here after dinner!

I don’t know much about French cuisine but what I do know is that Breizoz offers an amazing French crêpe experience. A unique combination of flavors and friendly staff make it a great place to sit back and enjoy yourself with good company.

Now I know very little of French culinary and wouldn’t pretend to but I sure do know good food and Breizoz is yummy, yummy, yummy! Can’t vouch for the authenticity of their crepes but my experience eating here has been like an education in enjoying dessert. My first few visits I only stuck to the sweets menu like Apple & Calvados and Orange & Lemon crepes. But on my last visit(with friends from overseas in tow) I decided to be a bit more adventurous and try out the savory section, which I admit grossed me out a little(I’m the kinda person that thinks bacon with pancakes should never have been invented!). My friends had salmon and frankfurts with their crepes while I went for the oddest item I could find: Blue Cheese and Walnut salade. I can’t be certain but that could have been the first I had blue cheese and to be honest it sat really well within the crepes while the walnut mix salad gave it a bit of a balanced aftertaste. It was actually quite filling for a breakfast meal and I’ve been craving for blue cheese ever since! My friends enjoyed their dishes very much as well, despite getting a little drenched that morning. Yes, Breizoz can be tad pricier compared to other franchise crepes but for a few dollars you’re paying not only a unique taste but experience as well.

On the face of it you’d think that Breizoz would be an absolute godsend. I love French food and a Brittany style creperie just sounds amazing. Perhaps foolishly I went for a savoury option as I hadn’t eaten prior. The Galetes were very bland and the filling(I think it was a mushroom based special) really was not very appetising. I struggled to finish the crêpe because it really wasn’t doing it for me. Maybe I’m just not a fan of galettes but I’ve had them in France and always enjoyed them so why would this time be any different. Next time(if there is a next time) I’ll probably try the sweeter crepes and possibly even the flambed ones.

Oh this place makes me happy! Such a pleasant departure from the thick gluggy confections served up venues like the Pancake Parlour, Breizoz does real French crepes and savoury galettes. Traditionally peasant food from the region of Brittany, they have now become extremely popular all over the country. On my first visit to France I guzzled Nutella and banana crepes by the dozen to the dismay of my high school exchange host. Thanks to Breizoz, Australia is finally catching on. While we may associate crepes with breakfast food or a sneaky snack, in France this is not the case. By all means crepes can be served up as both dinner and dessert. Once you’ve tried Breizoz’s savoury galettes you’ll get it. They are a revelation. And while it may seem like a strange concept, it works oh so well. Try the Provençale(egg, cheese & ratatouille) or Le Pavé «The brick»(double galette, egg, ham, cheese, mushroom, tomato). They may be heavy, but they’re equally delicious. The sweet crepes are equally tantalising. Try my personal favourite Banane & Chocolat(banana and chocolate) or the fruity Orange & Lemon. At Breizoz they serve their crepes with the apple cider Brittany and Normandy. An amazing combination of flavours, it is much lighter and drier than Australian ciders. They have a takeaway liquor license so that you can enjoy the cider at home for $ 14 per bottle. Breizoz even holds French conversation evenings for those who like to practice their language skills over an authentic meal.

Breizoz, je t’aime! Somebody has invented teleporting. Seriously. This place was ripped out of France and plopped down on Gertrude. On the quiet side of Brunswick Street, nonetheless. Most often run by the cutest, most effusive French-woman with amazing ringlets of dark hair. She is always smiling, laughing, joking, and, if prodded, will banter back in French. Quelle authentiques! They have sweet crepes. They have savory crepes. They have crepes that are sweet and savory all at once. My favorites: orange, chocolate and ice cream, and ratatouille with coriander herbed sausage. They also brew a mean café latte. Mmmmm. Wear your black and white striped shirt, dark glasses, and roll up your pants. This place is all about putting on your best Parisienne!

I’m an absolute crêpe freak. But I find that a lot of places use crepes as a substitute for pita bread, where they get some filling and wrap it to make what is almost a sandwich. That’s usually not the type of crêpe I go crazy for. Brezioz, however, makes the good stuff. They have quite a few tantalising options with a couple of specials that always have you ordering more than you bargained for. Their galettes and crepes can be a little crispier than other places, but that suits me just fine. Then there’s the authentic French cider selection. Oh my goodness, I think I’ve tried all of them by now. They even sell them by the bottle, which is amazing and dangerously tempting at the same time.

I’m a huge fan of crepes so when I found out that there was a creperie on the corner of Brunswick and Gertrude Streets I was on it. The staff are friendly and the menu is simple. Breizoz offers both galettes and crepes. Galette, which originates from Brittany, is a savoury crêpe made with buckwheat flour. Crepes, on the other hand, are made with plain flour. For the galettes, cheese, mushroom, ham, egg, or any combination of these ingredients range from $ 5.50 to $ 17.00. If you’re looking for something fancier, try the Boudin Blanc — a veal sausage and mushroom galette($ 16). I ordered a Complete — ham, cheese, and egg — in order to experience the galette in its most authentic form. Unfortunately, I was slightly underwhelmed. The galette wasn’t terrible and in Australia with many people being celiac, it is a fantastic gluten free option, but the texture was slightly rough and the galette itself could have had more flavours. I think my issue is that I don’t actually like galette. I prefer crepes with their lighter, softer texture and the sweetness that goes so perfectly with the savoury fillings. The crepes, on the other hand, were tastier — from butter to praline from $ 5.50 to $ 9.50, I’m regretting that I didn’t ask for the savoury fillings in the crêpe instead. There’s always next time…
