I’m really digging this little joint. One of Adelaide’s top Japanese restaurants in my opinion. The small and comfortable interior is a pleasant surprise when you walk in for the first time. A surprise the locals would prefer to keep a secret! Thouroughly enjoyed our meals. Nice combination of flavours. Left feeling content and full. –Four traditional tables. –Good for families. –Definitely make a reservation! The sushi is very good but a little pricey. Service was fine. They charge extra for wasabi, but whatevs.

After a hard day lurking in the shadows, jumping across building roof tops and creating shock waves with single swing of my Katana, a Ninja/Samurai like myself needs traditional nourishment. There are a number of good Japanese Restaurants around Adelaide, but the one that reminds me most of my days in Osaka(If I had ever been there) is SATO on Melbourne Street. I have had the pleasure of being a patron of SATO a number of times over the past few years and with each visit I have had the good sense to try something different from my previous visit. This is not because the food was sub par(quite the opposite in fact), but more that there are just so many items on the menu that I want to experience, and although us silent assasins have famously large appetites, it is just not possible to fit all of the goodies into one sitting! On my last attendance(after a particularly blood thirsty mission of carnage) I decided on the Shabu Shabu, which is a pot of broth on a hot plate that you put various vegetables and thinly sliced meat into(briefly) to cook before shoving it into the hole in your face. Simple, clean flavours that help to remind you that quality ingredients speak for themselves. Needless to say the Sake must be the beverage of choice, and there is always a few to choose from. I reccomend a nice dry one to put some hair on your chest(and then wax off, cos us Ninja/Samurai need to be aerodynamic!). Oh, if you try the deserts, be ready for some interesting flavours. Not particularly to my taste, but then not many deserts are.

Lovely food, let down slighly by serivce. I’ve been here a few times when I’m in the mood for japanese. I love their teryaki, beef or chicken(they’re both great), and their tempura prawns melt in your mouth. My only crticism is when they are busy you can be waiting for ages before you are served, and then another long wait before you see any food. It’s worth it for the food, but maybe avoid if you are in a rush.
