Jester Seeds

Great lay-​back feeling with good choice of cocktails and a reasonable tapas style menu. A little on the grungy side but fun and friendly.

Ray, Jordan and Paddy are the men who’ll be looking after you on your visit to Jester Seeds (JS). And let me tell you what a visit you’ll have.
We’ve been to JS a number of times now and I’m loathe to write this review. Not because the staff aren’t wonderful and friendly and knowledgeable about the products. They are. Not because the food isn’t delicious and the polenta chips should be the 8^th Wonder of the World. It is/​they are. Not because the vibe isn’t laid back with wonderful music pitched at the right volume. It is.
I just hate everyone else to know about this wonderful watering hole which has been there well over a year! The lads deserve the accolades as they’re a great bunch, backed up by a layer of utter professionalism which sits just beneath the speakeasy façade.

I had a great night here I am suprised there aren’t better reviews actually.
The staff are amazing. So accomodating and after my experience at another bar on King St coming here really was a breath of fresh air.
I had a delicious Rye Whiskey Sour topped with a real Marischino Cherry (I can’t eat those gross brightly coloured fake looking ones).
Haven’t tried the food but will def be back to try more instead of wasting my time down the road. Nice to have you Jester Seeds!

This is a cute little bar with lots of cozy nooks for a quiet drink (or 5) with friends or lovers. I can’t say I’m a big fan of the cocktails, I’ve tried 3 now and I won’t be trying any more… but they do pour a nice generous glass of wine for around $ 7.
I also must admit I haven’t tried the food, so can’t be a judge on that.
Staff are friendly and service is quick.
We’ll be back.

Good, not amazing… Having tasted most of the cocktails now over a couple of visits I can say most are overly bitter. Wine I’d ok though not exceptional.
Despite all that, there’s a great vibe here and the staff are fantastic. Well worth a visit.

Modern Australian bar, that has a courtyard and offers a range of share plates to snack on with friends over a few drinks. A nice grungy atmosphere, minimalist, cool, dark and almost a bit in-​coherant in a modern art installation manner.
This bar does exude cool and funkyness and you may prefer to be with a group of friends then just attend alone. Cocktails are also on offer and many are to choose from. The staff are laid back and willing to ask questions, they like where they work, you can tell in the way they talk about the menu and what’s on offer.

A strange name for a bar, which made me want to look in to see what it was all about. While I still have no idea what was the inspiration behind the name, I’m glad that I discovered Jester Seeds. From street level, it seems rather shabby and uninspiring; but if you go in, a relaxed, casual and vintage bar awaits. There are comfy sofas with the ability to envelope you for hours; especially when you have a drink in hand and a couple of friends to chat to, time flies in this place. It’s helped by the good value of drinks (from $ 7 for a glass of wine) and food. Expect typical but tasty bar snacks — burgers, chilli beer nuts, bowls of chips and tacos. It has a nice atmosphere though — not too busy but not eerily quiet, and it’s evidently popular among the students. The staff are very friendly and all-​in-​all, this is a great little place to start the night.
