Dress Sale — woo hoo! It’s better to be a fake somebody a then a real nobody. And sometimes a new wardrobe is exactly what the doctor ordered. Dresses were on sale at one for $ 40 or two for $ 70. This was a great deal and some of the items were almost 70% off. There is a modern eccletic range it is not frivolous or too sexy. It is more aimed at the modern professional wear, where an outfit can show your femininity, artistic flair and intelligence. There were interesting geometric prints and some jewellry was available.

Sarah Jane is a bit of a Newtown landmark, I’ve been coming in here for years to stock up on textured velvet and silk slip dresses. In fact, my old pieces still get trotted out on occasion and have held up well both in terms of style and condition. With more than a nod to vintage styles, Sarah Jane clothes don’t follow current fashion trends but have their own aesthetic. Made as they are from such delicate fabrics they’re not the kind of things you wear to do the welding in, but provide years (if you’re careful) of floaty comfort and silky glam.
Times might be a bit tough, as every time I’ve come here of late, there’s been a big table strewn with sale items which don’t seem to be showing much sign of decreasing. So it’s a chance to pick up a bargain or two. Hope they’re here for many years to come. They remind me of a more sedate, less ditzy Alannah Hill.
