Apple Dental

Those after a bulk-​billing dentist with zero trace of masochism should look no further then Apple Dental in Fremantle. After a good few years (mild understatement!) of avoiding the dentist after one too many viewings of The Little Shop of Horrors and prioritising Important Things like designer eye wear and updating my accessories over dental care, I decided to take the plunge and get my teeth checked out. It’s near impossible to find any medical practice in Fremantle that is covered by private health insurance, so after a recommendation by a friend of mine, I decide to book an appointment with Dr. Kim. It’s the only practice I’m aware of in Fremantle where you only pay the gap fee.
My appointment comes around and my nerves get the better of me. After spending the morning hiding under my covers, I receive a friendly call from the receptionist asking if I’ve gotten lost. I feign illness and missed busses and lost phones. Luckily for me, they waive the fee they usually charge for missed appointments ($ 50 FYI) and I reschedule another one. I’m given a courtesy call 24 hours beforehand to remind me of my appointment, and the receptionist also gives me handy directions to the place (through the glass door next to the shoe store, turn left and up the stairs).
At 10 to 5 on a Monday afternoon, I’m expecting a grumpy dentist. Instead, Dr. Kim congratulates me on deciding to take care of my teeth again! He doesn’t chide me when I tell him how long I’ve avoided dentists for, and tells me exactly what he’s doing as he pokes around in my mouth with instruments that whirr and buzz.
I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I think I’m actually looking forward to going back in 6 months time.
