A group of us were quite hungry after a night of bike riding and drinking. We realised we hadn’t eaten anything for some time. It was pretty late so we went to the first place we saw that was open. Lai Thai with is bright green sign wasn’t very hard to miss. I wasn’t so hungry so I let everyone else order. We shared a few dishes — pad thai, a couple of curries, a couple of stirfrys, and a few of entrees. The food was good and service exceptional. However, it was my second visit here that I really enjoyed the food. I think my first experience I had too much to drink and was a bit tired. We did a take away of their food and it was delicious! The service for take away was also quite good — prompt greeting and the food only took 15 minutes. It gave us ample time to buy alcohol and come back. We ordered the red curry with beef, green curry with fish, pad se ewe with chicken, and a few entrees to share. I was quite impressed by the food and it was cheap. For the four of us, we paid around $ 18 each.

I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing Lai Thai twice now. The first occasion we dined in with friends during a huge night. The meal was delicious and the service was good. It provided a nice spot to recharge the batteries and replenish our stocks for the night ahead. And it also has a water feature inside which was very soothing to our fuzzy brains. As you can tell the first experience was great but a bit of a hazy one. The other night we had a movie night with friends and were craving Thai food. We decided to try Lai Thai again to see if it measured up. It really hit the spot. The Pad Se Ewe was tres moreish and the duck curry was the pick of the dishes. I’d say it measures up to other Thai restaurants in the North side and would definitely eat there again.
