Unfortunately, the prices at True Blue Shoes aren’t quite as cheap as the elaborately signposted windows suggest. The deals are actually a little questionable, not to mention very specific, so don’t get sucked in by the false advertising. However, the range isn’t bad and if you’re lucky you might find yourself a bargain or two… or, most likely, you won’t.

High heels, boots and sandals: True Blue stocks a good range of women’s shoes of various styles, generally reflective of the basic trends of the season. Among the brands they stock are Toony Bianco, Zensu and RMK. There’re usually a few decent pairs of flats in each category, which is helpful to the non-heel wearing crowd who still appreciate pretty footwear. There’re enough benches dotted around the shop so as to limit competition when trying on shoes, and you can fish out your size from the pile underneath the display shoe or ask for assistance; they’re pretty cruisy about the whole process. The sales staff can waver between being very helpful and a little cold at times, but if you ask for assistance they tend to know they’re stock pretty well. At the end of winter they always sell boots in a two-for-one-hundred deal, although the more common sizes tend to run out pretty quickly around this time. In my experience, the shoes wear out fairly quickly under heavy use, but this wasn’t all that surprising. People with a light tread and larger shoe collection will probably get more value out of them. Still, the shop is pretty irresistible come sale time.

It’s too easy to get sucked in by the deals screaming at you from their window«TWOSHOESFOR $ 100» and the like. Two shoes means two shoes, as my sister and I found out as I tried to buy a pair of boots and she some shoes and the deal didn’t count(fair enough I guess.) My sister then went back to buy two pairs of shoes and the shoes she had chosen still wouldn’t be discounted as they weren’t actually shoes because they were brogues… Umm? It just made their deal seem so shady and subject to their discretion… But despite that they still do offer a nice range of Tony Bianco and RMK shoes as well as some various other brands.

Now I’m not a big junkie for shoes… my flatmate, on the other hand, is a connoisseur! It’s the deals here! This is like the shoe store equivalent of the Honda Salesman out in Geelong on latenight TV pounding the boot of 10 new Civics trying to sell them by Friday! She’s walked out of there, on more than one occasion, with 3 pairs for $ 100. That is shoe-insanity!
