Pool $ 1 Saturday 6−10pm and Sunday all day! Always a fun place for a drink in the evening. Often with some beer specials. It is right on the corner of Broadway and Harris and the proximity to Central means it is an easy rendez-vous location. I even like the sidewalk patio even though it is a busy street.

I was once dating an American girl and we stopped in at Bar Broadway one evening for a nightcap. While waiting for our drinks, she mentioned«This is the first bar I have ever been in.» She was a couple of years older than I, probably 23, definitely over the age limit. I was blown away and asked how this was even possible and she told me that due to having friends under 21, they mainly drank in parks or at house parties. So when I see Bar Broadway, I feel vaguely guilty for unknowingly introducing someone to the concept of bars and nightlife via this fairly stock standard establishment: I just want to get that out of the way now. It has pool tables, friendly bar staff, TVs with those running DVDs of weird and slightly unpopular music videos from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. You can probably picture it right now and you wouldn’t be too far off. What it does have is a great location(just down from Central, where Parramatta Road/Broadway bend to become George Street) and large glass windows facing the street with benches and stools. This lends itself to sitting and watching the people fleeing the city as the night wears on, chatting about the streetlife. The city becomes quite. .. grimy when you get to this end of George Street and you could do a lot worse.
