The pictures and reviews present what this gentle family restaurant is all about: Delicious, healthy dishes, with only the freshest ingredients. We loved being able to look at the food choices first, and then choose that way. The service was very warm and friendly.

My first meal in Istanbul set the bar high. The food was delicious and the people were so generous and kind. It’s like a home away from home. Thank goodness this is a short walk from my hotel Faik Pasha.

Excellent restaurant in Beyoglu with the best hummus I’ve ever had. You’ll see this concept at a lot of places in Istanbul where the food is pre-​made and you walk up and pick a few items and the waiter /​waitress delivers them to you. We ended up coming here twice we loved it so much.
The food here is extraordinarily fresh and there are a lot great veggie /​vegan options. My first night I had eggplant with lamb and my girlfriend had a mixed veggie plate. We also shared hummus. The hummus is otherworldly. The consistency is perfect and there is so much tahini that it almost has a faint peanut butter taste. I know peanut butter doesn’t exactly scream delicious in the same sentence as hummus but I assure you it is amazing.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, cozy and relaxing. As for the location, we stayed a few doors down in an Airbnb and there are antique /​second-​hand stores all up and down the street. The décor and feel of the restaurant definitely reflect the area /​street it’s on.
The staff are also all very friendly and attentive and the prices are very reasonable: we order a lot of food and it only came out to about $ 12 per person.

Be ready for a culinary orgasmic experience. Home cooking, fused with a modern sensibility, elevated freshness and focus on the essential. Trendy eclectic, yet non-​pretentious laid back environment. Great with friends or quiet romance. Very affordable, warm welcoming service. English spoken. Wine and beer served. Doubtful it gets any better than this.
It’s behind the Galatasaray Lisesi off Istiklal. Find the Galatasaray Hamami, continue past, make first right, it’s about 25 m on the right side.

No. 19 is the best food experience you will have while in Istanbul. There is no menu, the owner/​chef finds the freshest ingredients at the bazaars and cooks based on that. The food is displayed on a counter and you have a look, then order what you want. Great place to go with a group and order one of everything! She proudly declared that her hummus is the best in Turkey, and this seemed true to us! The food is all so fantastic, the place is cozy, and it feels fancy but is not expensive. We got multiple bottles of wine and it still wasn’t very expensive. A little tucked away in back neighborhoods but well worth it. Truly a hidden gem. Note that on a Friday or Saturday you probably want to make a reservation.
