Our rugs were delivered today, by a marvelous young man named Stefan Ergun. He works for Matis, lives in Istanbul and is in the US for 5 weeks on business, so they sent the rugs to him to deliver rather than having them delivered by FedEx. I had been dreading their arrival because of the moving of furniture and all that would go w/having them installed. Unlike FedEx, Stefan carried the rugs, which were bundled together, into the house, removed the packaging, carried the small one up to Alan’s office and installed it, giving Alan the option which side would face the door, determining the color because of the nap. Then he moved the heavy sculpture from the coffee table and the table itself and the other furniture, rolled up our old rug and the pad, which he advised us to discard. He arranged and admired the rug, which goes as well w/the other furnishings as I had hoped and then we put the furniture back. He helped us throw away the old pad and moved the old rug, which we will have to have cleaned, downstairs. Stefan made the process of moving the furniture and old rugs and installing the new rugs almost painless. He was charming and helpful. All he requested was to wash his hands afterward and a drink of water. We gave him two bottles to take w/him. He refused the tip Alan offered him. He was a joy and we are very, very pleased, almost beyond description.
