This is a classic restaurant. Selection of food is a 70’s blessing and the drink options are from the deepest bottom of the range. The staff make you feel like you should never have disturbed them in their dream of superiority. A must not visit.

Despite the Italian flag on the restaurant’s doors, our party was arguing whether it was an Italian-​only restaurant when the charming maître d recruited us off the street and convinced us to give it a try. For a party of three, we had a salad with sliced peppers, «white and black» (meat filet), fish and reindeer meatballs. Quality was nice and we would definitely come back again.

Exactly what we were looking for in a traditional Swedish dinner! We don’t speak any Swedish and our server was so kind to help us with the menu and our selections. We enjoyed reindeer meatballs, mashed potatoes and fresh lingonberry sauce. Soooo good! Washed it down with a few glasses of Pinot Noir, perfecto! Dessert selections sounded delicious but we were so full we couldn’t do it… next time perhaps!

There’s nothing historic about Rydberg’s Bar & Matsal, so don’t come here with expectations of anything other than a mediocre meal in a shabby restaurant. This is the kind of place where your great-​uncle comes because he likes eating the same meal every Tuesday night, just like he has been doing since 1974. Except Rydberg’s Bar has only been open since 1988.
We ended up here because my travel companions didn’t want to take my recommendation (Rolf’s Kok) and wanted to play it by ear.
I had the Toast Skagen, Scandanavia’s signature dish of grilled buttered toast with shrimp, dill and mayo with whitefish roe. It was almost acceptable. That’s the most positive thing I can say about the meal. Oh, the aquavit was great!

While strolling along Drottninggatan, you will work up an appetite. Just be sure to not spend all of your money at the shops along this popular road in the city.
Rydbergs is a restaurant that goes back some time and from what I understand, moved its location at one point. Once inside, you immediately feel its‘ inviting atmosphere. From the black and white photographs of writers that adorn its‘ walls to the friendly host. They serve traditional Swedish food, such as grilled salmon or the more adventurous — fish soup, which in fact was very good. At lunch time, the price includes salad, a light beer and coffee. The scene was a bit more subdued than other options, but the talkative staff helped make the experience a very positive one.

Very welcoming impression. Good service, good food to reasonable prices. Many coal-​grilled dished, which you can taste the coals on, in a good way.
Nothing mind-​blowing, but a great, solid experience, good food and a very strong 4 as grade.

Leider war es abends schon zu kalt um im schönen Garten mit Springbrunnen zu sitzen. Innen war die Atmosphäre aber auch ganz nett. Der Innenraum ist in Barbereich mit einfachen Speisen und einem Restaurant mit anspruchsvollerer Karte geteilt. Die Preise dort sind schon etwas gehoben, aber insgesamt kann man Preise in Stockholm natürlich nicht mit denen in Deutschland und erst recht nicht in Berlin vergleichen. Der Wein war daher auch recht teuer aber sehr gut. Das Essen war ebenfalls sehr gut. Allerdings die Portionen nicht besonders groß. Unsere Wahl war recht fleischlastig, aber allen hat es gut geschmeckt. Und Salat und Fisch waren auch gut. Fazit: gute zentrale Lage, solide Küche, kein Schnäppchen und kein Szenelokal. Nächstes Mal bei schönem Wetter im Garten!
