I don’t know why this fine establishment doesn’t have more reviews! I had one of the best meals of my life here. Crayfish toast starter and Swedish meatballs with the cucumber and berries-outta this world. The wine recommendations were superb. Yes, it’s hard to find-it’s actually IN the building of the Opera house… far left corner if you are looking at the water. Don’t miss it.

Operabaren has one of the best Swedish meatballs in Stockholm hands down, and I tried many. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Stain glass and wood finishes. It is very elegant yet casual at the same time. It is definitely a must for anyone visiting Stockholm for the first time and is looking to try good, traditional Swedish food. The staff was superb. So attentive and polite and a great sense of humor! They have a great selection of different kinds of bread. Carb heaven. And of course, delicious soft butter. The S.O.S.(Herring and Cheese) appetizer was quite impressive. The herring was prepared in four different ways and of course, there were potatoes and cheese. A true Swedish classic. Now – what can I possibly say about the meatballs. I am obsessed with Swedish meatballs and lingonberries and these definitely hit the spot. The meatballs themselves were the perfect size and there was an adequate amount of them. The sauce was perfect: not too salty yet still hearty. The lingonberries and pickled gherkin accouterments really complete this classic. Just simply divine. We also shared a slice of the almond meringue and butter cream cake which was like eating butter with a spoon. It would definitely be wise to share it as it’s quite heavy and. did I say buttery?
