All of these stars go to one thing that this shop sells, one little bag of wonderment that you rarely get anywhere else nowadays. It’s like the holy grail of childhood, the nostalgia came flooding back and I could barely contain my excitement.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you… the mix up.
Before you chortle, let me tell you exactly what’s so special about it. No where sells mix ups any more. I remember the days when you could go into any corner shop on the street and they would have loads of plastic tubs of different penny sweeties, just ready to be popped into a little bag in exchange for a shiny ten pence piece.
My boyfriend commutes to Uddingston everyday for work, and he kept this place a secret until we went the other day. The mix ups were sitting on a tub on the counter, and I picked a 50p one.
It was a proper mix up, in a stripy paper poke, and made up of one and two penny sweeties. There were mini jelly babies, foamy strawberries and rhubarb and custard straws. Amazing!
As for the rest, I have no idea. My eyes were on one thing, and one thing only! The return of the Mix Up! I’ll certainly be back!
