Good fortune(via eBay) brought us here to see Hamlet. Perfect foray into theatre & culture which renewed our love of Shakespeare all over again… just something about seeing Shakespeare’s play in HIS hometown that brings joy & makes it all *extra* special This was the David Tennant /Patrick Stewart version & we could not have been more thrilled… Hamlet w/humor — who’d have thought? It was absolutely phenomenal; the performers were superb; the theatre was outstanding, the acoustics were spot-on & the audience was thoroughly engaged. Courtyard Theatre is currently acting as a temporary«sole» Royal Shakespeare Theatre solution while they renovate the original theatre but we could not tell the difference — it was just as grand & spectacular. Intimate venue w/great seats & great view points. Stage was in this X shape that allowed for the actors to get really close to the audience & travel all over the stage so everyone got a good view — like I said, good audience engagement! The whole night was just perfect — started out w/the most delicious meal at Lambs, nice, brisk walk over to the Courtyard Theatre, fantastic performance then back across the Avon to our hotel — only to discover that while we were inside, it had snowed in Stratford Upon Avon — the 1st time in like 20 years. Just magical!
