One of the best fish and chips restaurants in the south West. Always freshly made, reasonable prices, nice options (Steamed fish for example).
The restaurant is a little cramped, but being so popular this is no real surprise.
The take away is up to the same high standard.

after lookinng on there web page i drove to the port & starboard take away to get some fish and chips. there web page states the take away is open till 9pm, i got there at 8.30pm to be told the web page was wrong! and they close at 8.30pm. what a wasted drive and false advert. sort your web page and rude staff

Extremely excellent service, the fish and chips were simply superb, one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to go to. Great value for money when i asked how big was the large cod they said between 10 and 12 ounces! EVEN I COULDNT FINISH IT AS MUCH AS MY TASTE PALETT WANTED ME TOO! As long as they keep up the good work I will continue to go there when I pass through.

We had take away from here last week, was not as good as usual, all undercooked, the batter was soggy and gooey inside, the chips were soggy and very small, tasty but not as good as it used to be. Mushy peas were excellent though.

Have to disagree with the comments about service. We just went to get takeaway fish and chips for seven, unfortunately for us it was 5 minutes before the advertised closing time. The woman inside actually ran to lock the door to stop us getting in. No terribly sorry we have already turned off the fryers or other more reasonable customer friendly action, simply doors slammed in our face. And another couple following behind also missed out, so they lost a lot of business tonight — not to mention any more custom from us during our week in Cornwall.

this was rated in the top ten fish and chip in th uk a few years back. i thik theres loads better though. the fish is excellent but the chips are quite poor. service is superb and it is run more like a hotel which is a bit weird really. the important thing is you can dress it as much as you like but if the chips are no good then its a waste of time
