Fish and chips was huge and very well made. I regretted that there was no vinegar and the tartare sauce was not great. Treacle tart was rich and delicious, the accompanying ice cream even better. We sat in the outdoor space — so pleasant! Lack of parking.

Good local pub away from the busy Richmond river side. — Set up: Nice outdoor garden with a decent amounts of seats. They also have a green house with a couple of tables. Indoor is your regular pub design but well done. — Reservation: You definitely need one during the weekend otherwise you will wait as it is a popular place with local — Food: Modern British food, prices are reasonable and quality is good. Lamb and beef were really good and well cooked(medium rare as we asked), I personally went for the Seabass option which was really nice and nicely presented — Service: Was ok, nothing outstanding. They were very busy and apparently short of staff. Still handle our table pretty well. Order and food delivery were prompt, we just had to chase the waitress for our bill. — Overall: I will return for sure

Being on the road, I wanted some fare that reminded me of to my grandmother’s Sunday cooking. Between the lovely girls on staff and the warm fire, I couldn’t have walked into a better welcome to Richmond. Pints were great, food was quick, and the staff was a treat for any homesick traveler.

Cosy pub and good food, but service is subpar — management is profit focused and not customer oriented. Staff is borderline rude and will not go out of their way to please customers. A shame really.

A tardis of a place, The White Swan proved to be a great place to visit on a sunny afternoon of cycling around Richmond. Although it can seem like a task to get a seat(even harder to get a table outside on a sunny day) but once in situ, I did not want to go anywhere for a number of hours! The drinks here were reasonable and actually made by bar staff who cared how they put them together, which is a nice treat for a pub standard of service. For such an off the beaten track location, there is certainly a lot of foot fall. I really love the hustle and bustle of this place. All of the people drinking here had a good fun friendly attitude, which made the ambiance more and more great to be part of. It was a great choice to grab some food here. I went with the burger, which proved to be a great choice as it was so tasty and juicy, like a good pub burger should be! My friend that accompanied me went for the club sandwich, which looked every bit as good as my burger. All of the bar and waitressing staff were really great, super friendly, and ever so eager to help. The combination of a few drinks, a sunny day and great food did nothing to inspire me to get back on my bike and cycle the 10 miles home! I will definitely look forward to coming to the White Swan again. All I need now is an excuse to get over to the side of town.

OK pub, really nice location, eye-watering prices. £3.80 a pint? Come on guys, stop taking the piss.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here pre-Christmas and couldn’t believe I had missed this wonderful pub before. The food is so much better than in the more obvious choices along the river and the atmosphere nicely olde-worlde. We must have been lucky to escape the landlord described by the previous reviewers — experienced excellent service in the first floor bar/restaurant.

Went last night — big mistake. First up, the starter: «Warm smoked duck salad with aged balsamic vinegar». The reality was rather different — a handful of cheap salad from a bag, with some chewy bits of fatty duck plonked on top, drowned in a sea of sticky vinegar. Main course: «Pan seared sea bass fillet with new potatoes». The sea bass was perfectly adequate. The potatoes were anything but new and squashed to smithereens. It came with a blob of pungent thyme-smelling goo that was neither complimentary nor necessary. The French beans had an unpleasant and unidentifiable taste — perhaps subject to thyme contamination. Luckily I was able to disguise the overall taste with a generous helping of English mustard(which is first for me with fish.) Desert. Too risky, so I skipped it. However one of my fellow diners was still hungry so he attempted the cheesecake. Fool. I’m not sure where this had been stored for the past 3 weeks but I’m sure it had never seen a fridge. The sides of the cheesecake had withered to a mottled, leathery texture and the gelatinous thing on top was more than a match for a spoon. I even tasted this culinary tragedy — which lingered in my mouth for at least 2 pints of beer. Sorry, but putrid doesn’t do it justice. In summary — if I’m paying £13 for main course, I expect something better. Much better. If you value your palate, your stomach and your wallet, go elsewhere. But, the beer is nice!

One of my favourites pubs in Richmond — usually an Oasis of calm in the week but a bit more crowded at weekends especially at lunch times. Staff are lovely and the setting superb and relaxed. The food is very good although a bit overpriced however the Sunday lunches are excellent. Good choice of Beer and Wine and no TV. Also how many pubs have their own resident spaniel — a real plus of this place with seemingly every customer knowing ‘Jake’ showing it’s good local feel.

This pub is so great it has it’s own resident dog! This pub is definitely off the beaten path, and a great little escape. It’s a very relaxed pub, with good music and doesn’t get too noisy. The bar and waiting staff were beyond friendly, and although we’d already had our dinner, our mouths were watering at the menu and the food that came out! More about the dog(what can I say, I’m an animal lover!), he’s some sort of spaniel named Jake with THE softest fur! He’s really docile; he’ll let anyone pet him, and he’ll immediately roll over on his back for a belly rub! He felt like my surrogate dog all evening as he leaned against my leg or laid by my feet. Okay now it sounds like I’m reviewing the dog! But really, a very cute pub nearby our home, which I wished we’d discovered sooner! The menu seems like a foodie’s dream, though a bit limited on the vegetarian side — only a risotto dish for a main :(I’m keen to try the puddings! And our friend is excited to venture back because they serve his favourite cabbage(savoy).

This is a beautiful located place and always handy to reach if you are strolling through Richmond. The food is good quality and the staff is super nice. I enjoyed often the Sunday Roast. You dont need to book, sometimes you need to wait a little.

Located a short walk from the River Thames, this small pub has a cosy feel to it and is very much a foodie pub with a small but loyal fan base thereafter. Being tucked away on a quiet back street it doesn’t get mad busy and is therefore an ideal place to go for lunch after a leisurely walk in Old deer park or along the river. Food is light /sandwiches during the week with a more hardcore evening menu and a big effort goes into Sunday lunches. Small and like your favourite local type pub with roaring fires and the odd dog or so that has had it’s weekly walk and is now sat by the fire making a doggy sort of smell. If you know what I mean then you can deal with it, if you don’t you should maybe go to All bar one instead. Small garden out the back which to be honest is not why you would go here, there are much better in Richmond. All o.k. here, ideal for the rambles and dog lovers or someone needing a quite local sort of a pub with a good Sunday lunch.
