The Reflex is part of the Mitchell & Butler’s 80’s bar chain and is very busy at the weekends. There is sometimes a charge to get in but usually not too much. It’s really only an option for me if on a night out drinking loads and not particularly bothered about real ales etc and stick to bottles/shots etc The best time to go is if you are out during the week when they have some really good offers on e.g. Cheeky Vimtos for about £2 but it’s not often I tend to go out on heavy nights out during the week these days but if I do I would head there. The toilets are only small so when it’s busy it can be quite a challenge to get to the toilets and this isn’t helped by the vendors selling aftershave etc which is popular in loads of city centre bars these days –annoying to say the least. The 80’s theme could be described as tacky but in my opinion that’s what this place is about! So good if you’re out for a heavy night having a dance etc not so much for quieter drinking nights out.

I used to frequent reflex but every time we went someone would be violently ill with the alcohol in there its like they dont clean the taps. The music and dj are all top notch but you have to make sure good bar staff are on the last time I went I was out for a friends birthday and had not been out long had only had 2 drinks I was amazed to stand at the bar for 20 minutes straight when a friend stood next to me not understanding the situation we were approached and they were asked what they wanted they pointed to me and I said how long I had been waiting whilst others were served the barmaid basically scolded me and walked off, I was so offended i left and ended the night for my self I have never encountered anyone so rude and obnoxious. I havent had this problem in there before and was shocked at the behaviour but it has been enough to put me off going back for good. The music and atmosphere is generally good and I even recommended going on that night but after the treatment I recieved I will never return. offensive rude ignorant staff that dont deserve good customers

Okay, I liked the 80’s music but that’s all that’s good about the pub. I only go in there when it’s quite, the furniture is quite trendy and I like the firemans poles. The door staff can be complete tossers, particularly when it’s busy at the weekends, also the place can attract some nasty, drunken behaviour at the weekends, the beer is of a very, poor quality, I only drink bottled beer when I visit the pub. I don’t mind visiting the pub if I’m out with a few friends as the atmosphere in there combined with the music, can be very good!

Cheese-tastic &, like the one in York, does exactly what it says on the tin. Unlike Seventies bars, which seem to manage to forget punk existed, the Reflex establishments play a good wide range of tunes from the era they’re a homage to. Prices are pretty cheap across the board so always a good bet at at some point of your night out.

great music(my era) can be cramped at times, a lot of people, too many sometimes. also ive lost count of how many times ive done my pole-dancing impression & i dont need to be drunk either, which is scary!

This is a great bar for 80’s music and cheap cocktails. It is free to get in and has cheap prices on the drinks. They have many retro nights with retro prices with numerous offers on all types of drinks. The best thing I like about this pub is that it has a massive light up rubix cube hanging from the ceiling which spins round and it also has poles for dancing around too. It has top DJ’s which always play eighties records and do requests too. Perfect for a night out.
