Love the Welcome. Is it because a friend of mine used to work there? Is it because I have been to far to many parties in their upstairs room? Or is it because they amazingly sell you bottles of wine when all the shops are shut on a Sunday night. I think you’ll find it is a combination. What’s unusual is that there is actually a mix of men who go to watch the football and groups of younger students or just plain layabouts. I’ve never once seen it too busy so it is the ideal place to have a quiet drink on a school night. The room upstairs is in fact three rooms — perfect, one for food, one for drinks, one for dancing. There is a small private bar as well as plenty of room for DJ decks and all the decorations/embarrassing pictures of yourself that your family want to put up. The hire charge is cheap so its no wonder it is popular for fun, special occasions like fancy dress birthday parties. I was a 70s groupie, ok? Stop asking me who I was dressed as, it was a year ago.

A good pub owned by Holts Brewery on the Prestwich Whitefield border. Only holts beers sold here but they were in great condition. The pub has live bands on a wennesday night, and the standard is high.
